While I'm not fond of P.E., my absolute most hated class was French.

Thus says the embittered Western Canadian who feels the language is unjustly impossed on us while those blasted Quebecois refuse to learn English! Fucking double standard! To hell with your "sovereignty"! I don't want to learn your ten thousand verbs because YOU want us to!

...*ahem* Sorry. I'm really passionate on the subject.

I almost got left back in ninth grade because my mind is so one-dimensional toward mathematics (which is why I'm an accounting major in college) that English was the bane of my existence.

They put me in Honors English because "he's one of the smart kids" and I ended up getting a C-. For the rest of my high school career I took "English for kids who can barely read" so I wouldn't have to work too hard. I got a lazy man's B at that level.

Also, consider the irony of a published writer (twice on this very site!) who could barely pass a literature class. Something's wrong with the educational system!

I've always liked most subjects, but Social Studies really got to me - I assume social studies can be done well, and I had some really nice, well meaning teachers, but at the end of the day, it's History that has been put under that pussification ray Yahtzee mentioned once... =P

Hm. The top 2 most disliked subjects here on the Escapist also happen to be my own.

English, I see it as pointless and it annoys me when so many people dislike maths because 'its useless in future life' and whatnot.
I ask them, when (unless for a few specific carer paths, such as writer or reviewer) are you going to need to write a story that engages the audience, if youre in a business environment the people need to read it, it doesn't need to be interesting it jsut needs the information. Also when are you ever going to need to understand the meaning behind a text or peice of writing, or for that matter need to know why the writer used alliteration or personification or a number of other features?
