Is Terry Wogan there still trying to come up with positive comments to make about our, always, god awful entry?

Not that I'll watch it if he is, but I might look up some clips on youtube later on if they are amusing.
unfortunately he quit...it's Graham Norton now

Currently watching it and all I'm thinking in regards to the UK screaming about how we've got to win it. Get. Iron. Maiden. Instawin.
Or Judas Priest. But these bands are too epic for Eurovision.

We can always dream though, eh?

Yeah... A heavy metal Eurovision would be awesome. Every country sends their best rock/punk/hardcore/metal/thrash band. God damn that'd be good.
When we were going to choose Norway's representatives last year, one of the nominees were Keep of Kalessin.
Any metal entry this year?
Nope.
And to top that off, our entry didn't even reach the finals this year. Pathetic.

...What is Eurovision?
Well, you see...
Here in Europe, every now and then each country will choose artists to represent them in a europe-wide sing-off.

It gives us stuff like this:
That was pretty horrendous, but also quite entertaining. Unfortunately I can't find it on any American channels...
It's on in England on the BBC, i don' think America can watch it.

The American equivalent of the BBC would be ABC? try that.
Nope, it's not on ABC or BBC America. And I really wouldn't say ABC is the American equivalent. Of the big 3 broadcasting channels in the US (NBC, CBS, and ABC) it's easily the worst and least watched.
Ahh fair enough, i only know a handful of American channels, i just assumed it would be.

And yeh you guys probs can't get it (Which is a lil silly), keep checking Youtube, you can usually watch the acts there, not yet though, as it is broadcasting live.

Oh fuck..and here is UKs entry. We apparently want to win and send a failed boyband. ...I know the failed in that sentence is redundant but meh.

They actually lost. They ended up on the very bottom. The eurovision crowd really isn't the target audience for fantasy metal.
Some people just can't (yet) appreciate the metal music.

Was responding to arc1991's post, should've quoted him to avoid confusion, sorry!

And yeah, entry song from France is something I was quite amazed upon hearing the first time.

Figures. It's pretty much a uniquely European thing.

That's Ukraine's entry from 2007, one of my favourite songs ever, only for the craziness. Just so you know, the singer is a man...
I... could tell... as someone with Ukranian ancestry I'm not really sure what to make of it...
That's impressive. I spent forever trying to figure out his sex.

The United Kingdom is preforming right now. I love how they always seem so desperate to win, always entering artists that are actually well known. (Eurovision is mostly composed of completely obscure shit.)
Haven't heard about the boyband they're sending this year though. Holy shit, that's horrible.

Also: Moldova's entry... What the hell?
[sub]From what I'm gathering it's a bunch of garden gnomes - one of which is wearing a monocle - and a fairy riding on a unicycle. And it's one of the best entries...[/sub]

And Germany's doing some weird shit too. What the hell, Eurovision?

And if people would be able to vote for their own countries...Don't 'ya think the votes would be a bit biased?
The best would be to introduce a weighted voting system with different tiers (based on population size, GDP or whatever) if you want something representative...

BLUE ARE SO BAD WHAT THE FUCK.

Honestly what a disgrace to us in the UK, hahah.
Much better than what we have had in previous years, i prefer them over Scooch, or any other cheesy acts that barely get in the top 5.

I'm not too big on the whole Eurovision thing. I used to just put it on while doing something else in case something interesting popped up, but since there's been so much outright BS in that contest i'd rather just hear about potentially good songs later.

But like , there are "some" catchy tunes every now and then (Epic Sax Guy)

That's exactly what Eurovision is about.

Well, the Eurovision has been and it seems that it will always will be a place for horrible singers to gather and sing horrible songs just to lose in a rigged competition.

But then again...Who doesn't love garden gnomes, monocles and unicycles?

On a slightly more serious note:
I kinda like the entry from Moldova. It's epic, in a funny sort of way. Those guys just crack me up...While managing to sound pretty dang decent.
