Currently watching it and all I'm thinking in regards to the UK screaming about how we've got to win it. Get. Iron. Maiden. Instawin.

Or Judas Priest. But these bands are too epic for Eurovision.

Yeah... A heavy metal Eurovision would be awesome. Every country sends their best rock/punk/hardcore/metal/thrash band. God damn that'd be good.

When we were going to choose Norway's representatives last year, one of the nominees were Keep of Kalessin.

Spoiler: They did not win, despite clearly being the best artists among the nominees.

And to top that off, our entry didn't even reach the finals this year. Pathetic.

Well, you see...
Here in Europe, every now and then each country will choose artists to represent them in a europe-wide sing-off.

It gives us stuff like this:

That was pretty horrendous, but also quite entertaining. Unfortunately I can't find it on any American channels...

It's on in England on the BBC, i don' think America can watch it.

The American equivalent of the BBC would be ABC? try that.

Nope, it's not on ABC or BBC America. And I really wouldn't say ABC is the American equivalent. Of the big 3 broadcasting channels in the US (NBC, CBS, and ABC) it's easily the worst and least watched.

Ahh fair enough, i only know a handful of American channels, i just assumed it would be.

And yeh you guys probs can't get it (Which is a lil silly), keep checking Youtube, you can usually watch the acts there, not yet though, as it is broadcasting live.

They actually lost. They ended up on the very bottom. The eurovision crowd really isn't the target audience for fantasy metal.

Some people just can't (yet) appreciate the metal music.

That's Ukraine's entry from 2007, one of my favourite songs ever, only for the craziness. Just so you know, the singer is a man...

The United Kingdom is preforming right now. I love how they always seem so desperate to win, always entering artists that are actually well known. (Eurovision is mostly composed of completely obscure shit.)
Haven't heard about the boyband they're sending this year though. Holy shit, that's horrible.

The best would be to introduce a weighted voting system with different tiers (based on population size, GDP or whatever) if you want something representative...

I'm not too big on the whole Eurovision thing. I used to just put it on while doing something else in case something interesting popped up, but since there's been so much outright BS in that contest i'd rather just hear about potentially good songs later.
