I'm not playing it because MMOs in general bore me, and you have to keep paying for them.

Where's my option, ey?!?

It's the most boring MMO I've ever played. It's all way too passive.
I only found about 3 different things to do which were fighting (right click on target, click attack, wait until it's dead) mining (right click on target, click mine, wait until cargo is full) or travelling (right click on target, click travel to, wait until you get there)

I'm certainly not paying for this kind of crap.

A bit late perhaps, but here's my answer.

1. Costs money/month
2. I study and work already IRL. I do not want to work in my free time as well.
3. It's pure multiplayer, with all the good and bad that entails.
4. Did I already mention work?
5. Did I already mention it requires a constant input of IRL money?
6. It's boring and slow by all the accounts I have heard.
7. Starcraft II beta...

I've been in EVE for almost 2 and a half years, and I really like it. I can't imagine joining another MMO unless I find out it has as deep an economy since I like running a corporation. As can be seen on this chart http://www.mmogchart.com/Chart1.html EVE has a small but steadily growing userbase. This seems to indicate that it has a very strong appeal to a small part of the population.

I'm curious about what people around here think about it; you guys must see the ads all the time (which I think look pretty spiffy).
Because they STILL haven't released Walking In Stations after promising it for three years, and I just found out today that the next expansion isn't going to have WIS in it either. Boo hiss.

I tried the demo. I played it for a few hours and didn't really feel like I'd accomplished anything at all. I tried it a few more times over the next few days (even got a couple of extra ships, and took various jobs like mining, bounty hunting, etc etc) and none of it really seemed to hold my interest. I wanted to like it, I really did...I love sci fi stuff and the idea of zipping around in space in some futuristic ship was really quite appealing to me...and I didn't even mind the interface once I'd gotten used to it.
It just didn't have enough opening "pop" to really draw me in. After the fourth day of the demo, I dropped it and wasted the last ten days, then uninstalled it.
Game had a lot of neat points and a ton of potential. It just felt to me like it wasted a lot of that potential.

Stuck in a spaceship the whole time. That's just horrible. Even more horrible than Mounted Combat in WoW (which they thankfully dropped after one patch.).
Are you kidding? Did you see the date on this thread? It's 2 years old. That's so far past the accepted ressurection time it's ridiculous.
