After that, I never did it again.

I'm hoping I'm not going to be put on probation or suspended any time soon.(or at all)
If I do, it's my fault for acting like an ass.

OP: Yeah, I've been ban-hammered multiple times.
The first time I got suspended was TOTAL bullshit. A twilight fan was attacking a new guy for saying that twilight fans were ignorant, but here's the thing: The new guy didn't say that. I jumped in to his defense, and I got smashed.

The second suspension, I kinda deserved.

Never "Incurred moderator wrath" but I've seen others be punished for, what seems to me, absolutely nothing. It seems like the first three comments on any of the popular videos is an instant ban, even if it's of genuine discussion value.

So yeah, seems to me like the mods are a bit ban-happy.

There are instant repercussions for posting on a video before you possibly could have watched it. There's no reason to post if you haven't even seen the video, and most posts of that nature tend to be trolls or attempts to claim first.

Fair enough, but quite a few have been posted a good ten minutes after the video was online, when it was entirely possible that they could have watched the entire video.

I have fortunately not had any issues at all with the good mods here at the Escapist, and I hope very much not to. I always try to be nice and all that, and it seems to be working fairly well for me so far.

the most i have had is a random person accused me of trolling, which he later then said sorry for after talking about it.

I've yet to receive moderation on this forum, and certainly don't plan to. Lots of content to posts dealing with anything controversial, allowing for stating the nuances in one's view rather than a boiled-up version that might be taken the wrong way seems the way to go so far.

I've been banned from a religious forum in my younger, wilder days though.

Only suspension came from march madness.

If i recall correctly it was relic vs blizzard thread and i made a neutral post (no sarcasm or smartassness involved) in reponce to peeps saying "sc=best rts ever, no contest" stating that i didnt like the overall playstyle of sc games and much preferred the emphasis on cover and squad tactics a la CoH.

Suspended with the reason given being "keep these kind of opinions to yourself" which drew a o0 from me and an immediate pm to which i got no reply.
I think i must have offended a mod who was particularly into sc and disputing its status as the god of rts was an opinion unwanted.

Attenuating circumstances was the thread was a flamefest, but short of the mod suspending the wrong person, it seemed like a mix of fanboyism and overreaction from the mod in question.

It was to Activision saying Call of Duty was this generations Star Wars.

My response was 'No... no... no... no... just no.'

Which I suppose is kind of low content...

First of all, I have searched along all the Escapist guidlines on the website, and see no reason why this thread should be locked if things are kept at an informative and discussion based level. I see nowhere where discussing one's punishment leads to other's.

Second of all, as you may have noticed, I have very recently recieved probation for one of my comments on another poll (which I invite anyone to go look at).

I suppose you could consider it as flaming, but I did not intend it to be particularily offensive, only comical really. So naturally, I'm a tad upset.

My question is, do any other Escapists have a dark past of recieving repercussions for their actions? And if so, do you feel as if you deserved it?

Well, low content/irrelevant post I guess, so its somewhat justified. Not that I have anything against seeing the post really, but I like that the mods keep this place so clean.

I got several warnings, most deserved on account of low content post, however one in which I bitched (somewhat relevantly) whilst still offering my opinion I was warned on account of admiting to venting slightly. (which while meant I was a bit less courteous, hopefully negated by my admition of my position, was still on topic and meant to be helpful to the OP)
