I understand the affection, but my house backs onto fields and so we get a lot of mice and rats being presented to us by our 2 murderous cats.

I don't mind, it's cleaning up the blood and the left over bits of spleen that bothers me. Also, why do they leave just a tail or once just a side of the muzzle? That was a good one. 2 front teeth, half a nose and the left whiskers. Not a trace other than that.

The family cat is way too pampered and treated like a child. She doesn't even want to leave the house anymore, and is scared of my hamsters. Nuff said.

My cat loves dissecting squirrels and leaving various organ systems (still intact) on my porch.

No, but I did some research, and did you know that when they do that, it means they're planning to kill you?

Actually it means your cat is calling you out saying how bad of a hunter you are, some instincts your cat hasn't been able to drop. I say kill a deer and drop it into his bed, it will probably stop the issue.

one of my chihuahuas thinks he's a cat.
Keeps catching mice and sitting them on the front step of my house. More than once he's trotted into my room carrying a mouse and sat it at my feet. -_-

Though once he brought in something for me that he hadn't killed. It was a tiny baby bird that'd fallen out of its nest. It was still alive and he brought it in so carefully. The wee thing was terrified but we sat it in my rabbit's old cage 'til it was comfortable and soon it was jumping around quite happily, trying to fly. Eventually it did fly though, don't know how, (I'm assuming it'd fell out of its nest by accident or something & landed in all the leaves at the bottom + the nest was very low in the tree), so we released it.

It had just rained and I was sitting on my back porch and my dog brought me a dead crawfish.

When I lived with my parents, my cat use to bring home all sorts of kill, bird, rat, mouse...grasshopper. You knew when it was bringing home the kill, it would meow like a cat with its mouth full. These days, the cats play with their food with no actual intention of killing it, though they do eventually.

In the first week after we first let our cat out of the house, he brought home a rabbit that wasn't quite dead. This tiny little kitten, barely 3 months old, was dragging this twitching corpse across the street in front of our house, leaving a trail of blood and assorted gibs behind it.

And I had to smash its head in with a brick to put it out of its misery.

The rabbit that is, not the cat.

Artemis used to make a habit out of bringing me a stunned corpse with its gut torn out just before Sunday dinner. That was until the fox came into the garden and nearly beat the tar out of her.

Now she just hunts plastic bags.
You name your cat ARTEMIS and then wonder why it hunts stuff?

(unless I've really messed up my INT roll, Artemis was the Greek God of the Hunt?)

Oh man it was sick. There was this little crow who was a real bastard and used to hang around my porch. so one day I step outside and he's just sitting there, being a bastard, then out of no where BAM! my cat pounced the shit out of him. He dropped the crow's still probably warm corpse at my feet and was like: "hey asshole. Bet you can do any better." SO then I went fishing and caught this huge trout brought it home and my cat was depressed for a week xD

Yes, my cat used to, and I thought it was gross until I learned why he did it. Now, I just think it was insulting. Smug little bastard.

My cat brings me bats, as there are no mice in my house.
I've always thought it was quite impressive, catching a bat.

Back when i lived in venezuela my Siberian Husky brought me a dead baby anaconda, no joke, i was so happy i gave it food and used the snake's skin to make a collar for my good ol' Loki, god what an awesome dog, i had it trained to bark and growl and scare the shit out of people at command (if only it were still here, that command would of course be "would you kindly")

yea, my girlfriends cat does that all the time.

when I studied zoology and ethology last year, I read that cats do that with the intent of feeding you, if they think you are inept at doing so yourself. Basically, your cat looks down at you and thinks, "here, watch how a pro does it"
Haha, that doesn't surprise me, cats are dicks...

I don't have outdoor cats, and my Great Dane is always inside as well so that never happens to me.
