Can't say I have really, then again I guess games are something I absorb throughout my life like other external influences so they must have had some effect on my writing I guess.

No, never done that. I've ranted about a game in an essay before, but I've never stolen a game idea for a short story.

I sort of done so a few times. I've more based lines and/or characters off of games rather than plots.

Once, in a way... But instead of having to beat Temples as Link, it was about me having to beat stages to get parts for my time machine while dodging dinosaurs.

Ok, I guess that doesn't seem to have much to do with each other, but I got the idea for different stages from OOT.

I once wrote a series of experiences that happened to me in Fallout 3 providing my own narration and character motivation. I wasn't doing any quests or anything, just wandering around.

Got a damn good grade too.

No but sometimes I use smiler story arks, weapons, or vehicle types...

The kind I use are so overused in media no one ever notices, and I usually put mu own twist on my work...

I've ripped off the storyline of Guild Wars numerous times in short stories I've wrote.

Yep. I ripped of Resident Evil last year for my Creative Writing class. Though, it's not that hard to write a zombie story but I had tiny references to RE in it, just to make it more interesting for myself.

I try to keep copying plot elements from games to a minimum. There have been quite a few times where I'll be thinking really hard and I'll come up with some idea that I really like...only to realize two seconds later that the exact same thing happened in some game that I played a long time ago. And then I feel really stupid and like a failure as a writer. -_-

once or twice.
the only one I remember is for a creative writing class in which we were to creat a "fantasy" setting and tie it into reality like a "science fiction" thing.
you know what that means?
