Paragon because scarred up Shepard is hideous. BioWare did the same thing with KoTOR.

This, this is why i'm always the good guy in bioware games, because if you aren't you end up getting hit with the big assed ugly stick and it annoys me (like how if you were sith in KoToR your face became hideous)

But I usually end up choosing what I would choose, so some times he's a complete ass but is usually nice and helpful

Renegade female Shepard first, then paragon male. Always that way for RPGs, femme fatale first, then upstanding heroic manly man.

I picked "Good" because I mostly end up with more paragon points then renegade, but I mostly just role play her, and so there are plenty of times I knowingly pick an "Evil" option because I consider it in character.

I like my Shepard to be nice enough that he/she doesn't come off as a jerk, but when it comes to decisions he/she is not afraid to do what is necessary. Which is usually the renegade option; if the stakes were that high being 'nice' is going to get people killed. And diplomacy can suck balls, there's a galaxy to save.

It's just such a shame that in ME2 you have to go all one way otherwise you, by some arbitrary scale, can't influence/intimidate people.

I have a very high Paragon count but always found myself doing the quick-time Renegade options during Mass Effect 2.

I play paragon for the most part, but I can't resist those awesome renegade interrupts. My overall is neutral with a hint of good.

so bioware put a lot of work into telling us that shepard is not good or evil but just may do things differently and you just reduce him to good/evil again. shame on you

I tend to be good when given the choice, but i do occasionally push people from windows, punch annoying reporters and set people on fire.

I don't really see Renegade Shepard as evil, he/she's more pragmatic (if that's the right word to for him.) He/she likes to get things done his/her own way regardless of who suffers for his/her choices. Paragon Shepard on the other hand is a bit more concerned with the safety of others rather than getting the job done.

Both kinds of Shepards want to save the universe, but they each do it in their own way.

EDIT: Of course both kinds of Shepards can make choices that create risks for later on.

For example:

A paragon Shepard who releases the Rachni Queen or reprogram the Geth may risk the safety of other people. A Renegade Shepard may keep the Collector base and risk Cerberus gaining power over the galaxy.

I try to make decisions I would make. Unless I know one specific choice will lead to an outcome I really want. So with that in mind, I always play good. I just can't bring myself to be an ass hole and screw over everyone.

Paragon in ME1
A bit of both in ME2. "I'm tired of you disingenuous assertions." & "You're working too hard."

I go with whichever one I would do in the situation. Normally this means Paragon, but I wish there could be some more gray area rather than just choosing whether we're serious versions of Dudley Dowright or Dick Dastardly.

I cannot make myself play bad shepard... I have tried and failed numerous times, causes too much cognitive dissonance.

I like mixing the two personally, since that's how I'd do things in real life. I'd be a completely sarcastic jerk in conversation with most people but I'd make the paragon decisions. I'd save the Rachni, and be a douche to that inspector guy from the original. "Shepard, I'm not happy!" "Somehow I doubt that that's a rare occurrence..."

Why is there no both option? Or paragade, or renegon?
Seconded. I tend to play through both Paragon and Renegade options with different characters, since thats where most of the replayability lies. My main Shephard, I do things how I would handle the situation which is mostly Paragon with the odd Renegade decision where I feel it makes more sense (that prick who got sparta kicked out a window had it comin).

My Shepard is definitely Paragon but he is the type that takes no crap from anybody. He'll go out of his way to save two dozen kittens from a burning building but he won't hesitate to execute a thief for stealing a loaf of bread.
