The fire lance crash is based on luck I think, but the crashed alien ship is in a fixed position.
Yeah, I know, I just haven't gotten around to visiting the crashed ship on my current playthrough (which is the save I'm using to get to level 30, do all the DLC, etc), and I haven't had the random Firelance drop happen - or if I have I haven't noticed which means I'll probably find the Firelance on a random NPC because they found it before I did.
If you see an explosion in the sky, go get dogmeat and come back. The damn firelance is a royal pain in the ass to find.

I was searching around for 20 minutes before I went and got the mutt, who proceeded to find it in a rock, then get himself stuck in said rock. Oh, Fallout and your funny glitches...

I liked them all, but my favorite is probably Broken Steel. Point Lookout is cool, but the atmosphere wears thin quickly, and both Calvert and Desmond are unlikable pricks. But hey, the Dismemberer is awesome!

Special mention goes to The Pitt for actually making a place more depressing than the Capital Wasteland.

Interestingly enough, I have 2 DLC (Broken Steel and Point Lookout) but I haven't gotten into either of them that much.

I haven't touched the quests Broken Steel added. Really all I'm doing right now is roaming the wasteland gathering Bobbleheads and tying up loose ends. So the only thing I've experienced from Broken Steel is the level increase, new enemies, and the Heavy Incinerator (which is awesome).

I actually tried Point Lookout, and enjoyed it until I went back to the Wasteland. I went back for 2 reasons. The first reason was because I wanted to finish up most of my business in the Capital Wasteland before diving into Point Lookout. The second reason was because the enemies in Point Lookout are stupidly hard. So I want to gather a stockpile of weapons and armor for repair for going back, and probably gather a few more stimpacks for safety (not that I will probabaly need them. Considering how many I have I could eat them like candy and still make it through the whole DLC).

On a side note, if you beat the quest line in Broken Steel, does the Enclave leave the Capital Wasteland for good or do they still have random groups in it?

No option for PS3 owners that can't get DLC?
Wait for the Game of the Year Addittion?

edit: And the "I don't do DLC" would cover that I believe.
Fallout 3 wasn't Game of the Year, was it?

I have none of these, but I like the items in Operation: Anchorage (and since I have FO3 on the PC, I can console all the items from the simulation MUAHAHAHAHAHA) and it sounds like The Pitt has a good story. Some extra terrain would be nice too, so I could maybe like Point Lookout, and Broken Steel is my first target, as it fixes the issue in the vanilla version (since when is it a good idea to give an ending to a sandbox game??) Mothership Zeta will definately be good, imagine classic 50's style sci-fi with Bethesda's writing. So in short, despite my adversity to these mini-expansions, they all have something nice to add.

Oblivion wasn't either (well not officially, but it got Gphoria 06)
Neither was CoD4.

I never bought Point Lookout, and don't plan on getting Zeta. Anchorage and Broken Steel were major let-downs for me, but The Pitt did satisfy msot of my expectations. I go with the Pitt.

I am excited about Mothership Zeta simply for more Alien Blaster ammo. Seeing people become blue goo was too addicting.

With the PS3 version I don't have any of the DLCs. Sure they are releasing some soon but to my knowledge all that will be coming are OA and The Pitt which I'm not too excited about. I wish they would anounce Broken Steel for the PS3 soon.

They still show up. Only difference is Three Dog saying "Take pity on the Enclave; they're homeless!" on the radio.

Operation Anchorage just didn't do it for me. It felt mindless, and the gear (Chinese Stealth Suit in particular) seems to take all the challenge out of the game.

Broken Steel is pretty cool, lots of action and big explosions, but it actually felt a bit weird comming right back and playing after how the game originally "ended". The assault on the Enclave base was very hectic and exciting though.

I loved the Pitt. The atmosphere was crushing and brutal, even more so than the Capital Wasteland. It also gave one of the most morally ambiguous choices i've come across in a video game. Wherner and Ashur were also great characters.

Out of the three i've played, I enjoyed The Pitt the most.
Too true. I've always been a stealth character, so I jumped at the chance to basically have a permanent Stealth Boy, but it really does make things too easy. Thing is, I can't not use it. I mean, it's there, if I die without having used it, I'll always blame that.

I agree, I liked Broken Steel a lot.

As I said earlier about the Pitt, I really do love how they made it even more depressing than the Capital Wasteland. I just wish that you didn't get your gear back half way through, takes the challenge out. I mean, I could just not use it, but the same logic as with the Stealth Suit applies. And yes, the choice was awesome, and I did like how Wherner was sort of an anti-hero and Ashur was sort of an anti-villain.

I liked how Broken Steel added a lot of content, and expanded the ending so it didn't suck. But I liked Point Lookout a lot better. My favorite part about Fallout 3 is the exploring, and they really let you in Point Lookout. The enemies were pretty funny lookin too. Mothership Zeta should be really interesting though, and I'm really looking forward to that one. I loved the energy weapons and the new weapons should be sweet.

I have all of them, I liked broken steel the most, what I did NOT like of Point Lookout, is that simple hillbillies have a ridiculous amount of health, it took 3 shots from my awesome tesla cannon that kills enclave hellfire troopers in 1 shot...
and the only reason I got Op. anchorage is because the winterized T-51b armour and the gauss rifle, and the pitt was fun for a short time, but did not give long-time satisfaction, and no really interesting gear, not counting the ammo press.

damn, ninja'd....

No there are still stragglers. I would advise stocking up on plasma rifles and laser rifles anyway throughout BS as you can get tonnes of em and never go wanting again. I think I have 30 plasma rifles in my cabinet in Megaton.

By the way, I am very jealous of you that you still get to play through BS for the first time...
