I don't like it either, and what pisses me off is that I bought the Game of the Year edition. I'm REALLY pissed, cos now I have no money and a terible game.

Maybe if you tried NOT killing Megaton? Then you will have money and ammo.

A lot of the fun of Fallout 3 is dicking around and exploring the large world. Stock up on ammo, and just go exploring, you'll find some fun locations. Although following the main plot is a good idea. And make sure to stop by the Super Duper Mart as a part of Moira Brown's quest (you know, after NOT shooting her...)

god its not rocket science and the game holds your hands the whole way,i love the game(not as much as fallout 2 or tactics) but still, plenty of exploring, decent story especially with the expansions and good gameplay
read the journal, follow the marker, talk to everyone, and kill people for shit

Don't kill random people untill you've bleed them dry. In the case of Megaton, don't shoot anyone unless you then plan to blow it up. If you do accidentally make people angry, run away a good distance, then come back an in-game week or so latr. They shouldn't be angry at you then.

I recently got fallout 3 for the 360. At first everything was fine up until you get to the first town. I had no idea what to do/where to go and whenever I went to where the marker was it lead me to a dead-end subway station. I gave up and walked back to buy some more ammo. I was testing to see if I had any amo in any of my guns and I shot the store lady thus making everyone pissed at me. I fended them off for a good while then left the place i was using as my fort. I explored around a bit and now this is where I stand:

I have no money, no ammo, no indication of where to go, bored with repetitive environments, everyones dead and the people who arnt dead hate me.

I am frankly dissapointed because I was looking for a really solid, entertaining RPG that wasnt as text loving as ME1(or 2) or DA:O. What should I do to spice this up and make it the jaw dropping deliciousness I always hear about?

EDIT: Thank you all for your pointers and tips! I restarted a new toon and low and behold I am enjoying myself much more :)
Next time you should try not shooting a civilian in the face. No offence, but you sound like you don't know how video games work.

Yes, you are doing something wrong for not liking something the masses like.

How dare you.

/sarcasm because apparently that is needed at the end of sarcastic statements

I tend to hate most things on the Xbox 360 people love.
I hate Halo, I think COD is average at best, and can't stand Fable or Fallout.
Same here, except the Halo part, it's not bad, but certainly gets more praise than it deserves.

OT: Don't kill everyone in Megaton.

Well, you screwed up a bit. No need to restart though. Just let the game sit on the shelf. It's terrible anyway.

But whatever you do: do NOT listen to the story. It makes the game even worse than it already is. Seriously: it will make your brain cry.

Fallout and Oblivion have to be struck at the right angle. If you don't get immersed quickly you just end up wandering around with no goals in mind, board as hell.

Why are people still posting in this thread? It was started back in April. The OP has actually already at one point said he's enjoying himself much more, so I'm pretty sure he doesn't need extra advice.

What you're doing wrong is playing a game that doesn't cater to your personal preferences. /thread

People think Fallout 3 is a typical FPS, and don't understand the RPG elements! A few of my friends find it boring, and I find it fun! It depends on personal taste, for me it works!

It's one of the things they're aiming to "fix" with the New Vegas. Personally, I had no trouble, it was pretty easy as the quest log tells you where to go, but then again, once you brave Morrowind's begginings, you get used to having 0 direction :p

Either way, the game's good, but of course, your experience may vary. I'd say reroll, start over, keep an eye on quest log :)

Well try again, this time don't blow away the quest givers.
Then pop up the map it normally shows ya where to go...

If you make it a mass murder simulator, yeah your gonna be left with no direction and lonely if ya just kill anything that advances the story.

What to do:
Press the little button next to the disc tray
Remove disc
Insert Mass Effect disc
Press little button again
Enjoy

OR
You could check the walkthrough. That always helps. Besides, RPG's are a bit dull at the beginning; stick with it, it'll pay off.

Nah, so like everyone has said, don't shoot everyone. You want to have some of those NPCs alive
