I like both, they have a different approach to the shooter/rpg game style that gives them something unique about them.

But like others have said, VS thread = bad, try keep that in mind for future reference ^^

Considering Borderlands is an Online shooter while Fallout 3 is an RPG. I don't get why you want to compare then.
Borderlands is just as much an rpg as Fallout 3 really, just curious but have you played them both?

Fallout 3, everything in that game has context, unlike Borderlands which is fun and has better shooting mechanics but is ultimately shallow and far less rewarding.

I don't know about it being less rewarding, that all depends on the person playing.

But I will admit it is a fairly shallow game, I do like it though, same with Fallout 3.

I guess what I meant was over long term play. Fallout 3 has a lot more depth and is intellectually and emotionally rewarding for a very long time, at least it was for me.

Borderlands was great fun for two playthroughs, after which it had nothing left to offer me except more fancy guns.

I like any game that lets me send heads and body parts flying with well-placed shots.

I like Fallout for it's storyline and cohesiveness, and I like Borderlands for the sheer volume of weapon and armor choices and the over-the-top craziness permeating the game world.

None of my friends own Borderlands and I enjoyed it more than Fallout 3.

Borderlands is an extremely fun game, but only really if you're playing in a party. Playing solo can be quite frustrating and a tad boring.
I love both games, but I'd have to say pound for pound, I much prefer Fallout 3 (bethesda didn't fuck something up for once). The sheer depth of that game, blows the other three games out of the water. I love Fallout 1 and 2 and even enjoyed tactics, Brotherhood of Steel doesn't exist as we all know, but Fallout 3 was very faithful to the already well-established fallout series and just the fact that they were able to incorporate the V.A.T.S. into real-time gameplay (without destroying the established Fallout 3 battle system) makes it all the more epic.
F3 gets my vote.

Borderlands.

Fallout 3 got very boring after a while and has no replay value.
No replay value? Umm... wtf!?
I completed it like 6 months ago on pc, and my friend recently lent it to me on PS3. I'm playing through it again, and not one thing I've had happen to me on this playthrough is identical to my pc playthrough. I think you might be playing a different game...

Are you joking?? Games like this need to be explored.. u dont just do a story line.. i duno about you but i have spent over 100h on this game just wondering around findin cool shit to do..
I have - 99.99% game completeion in fallout 3, almost every achievment(F^.^ mother ship zeta's find all alien logs), more bullets than there are monsters, more money than there are items to buy, more items than I need, every DLC, watched every clip from v.a.t.s., every bobblehead, personaly killed ever companion, tons and TONS of dogmeat, reached lv 30, and can kill a death claw with my hands..... oh wait I also have NO REASON LEFT TO PLAY..... all under 100 hours.

I'm on Borderlands and only have a lv 50 Siren..... so I'm with borderlands.......FOR NOW!

I've played both games extensively, and I would have to say Borderlands, Fallout 3 is bland in design and interaction. This may be because I'm comparing it to Oblivion also, but I think this is a fair assessment of the experience. I will say the biggest drawback for both games is starring endlessly into the wastelands for hours. Post-apocalyptic may sound fun at first, but when the whole color palette looks like it could have been pulled right out of Gears of War, something went wrong. Overall, if you like the quirky story and atmosphere of one better than the other, thats what you should base you purchase off of. Boarderlands gets a nice bonus for having multiplayer, but lacks in the character customization dept. where Fallout 3 has a solid standing (as far as shooters go).

Borderlands is crap and forces you to play with others to be fun.

Fallout 3 is great no matter what.

Fallout, no contest, played em both, and borderlands is clearly alot more fun, but it runs out of steam 4 times faster than fallout.

Borderlands really just has better FPS mechanics, and the story and world just didn't appeal to me even in the comic book sorta of rendering.

Fallout 3 was just way more an enriching experience, even though the developers could learn a few things from Borderlands on how to make the combat better.

NO. ONE. LIKES. VERSUS THREADS.

I know you may be new, but please. Don't do a versus thread.

[small]No one expects the Spanish Inquestion![/small]
I always expect the Spanish in question.

Unless... you mean the SPANISH INQUISITION! Dun-dun-dun~!
Well, in question, I expect the Spanish.
In practice, I'm not sure.

OT: Fallout 3.
Borderlands is basically a (more-or-less) open world, FPS...
I got bored after playing for about 2 hours, and it's just the same thing over and over again.
Fallout 3 is really fun, but once you beat it, it's only fun with the DLC's.
