...I kinda thought the 'canon' ending was the implied (by Ulysses in Lonesome Road) annihilation of everything in the Mojave by those tunneler things. The ones that apparently eat deathclaws. (though I can tell you which ones I killed easier, and it wasn't the 8-foot, armor-ignoring, nigh-impossible-to-outrun fucknuggets) The ones I think he said might've been around since before nuclear hell broke loose, earthquake'd out of hibernation or whatever by the Courier accidentally setting off all those nukes?

Though that probably conflicts with the machines of the Big Empty stopping that meteor something like 600 years in the future. Unless the tunnelers just never got that far? I haven't played New Vegas while paying attention to the story in a few years now.

I think there are only two logical choices for the game to be good. It has to be House winning, or independent. That way certain groups can remain in Vegas, with enough sides for the player to choose. If the NCR win, they'll be wiped out in the name of progress, or Legion, they'll be crucified in the name of regression.

Any other ending, but keeping the groups needed for diversity, will be kind of a cop-out, at least in my eyes. But they could make it work, if they did it well I'm willing to admit, but I imagine it would involve shaking up the formula a bit, making the game more political than combat based.

Independent Vegas all the way. Total fucking anarchy where the various tribes keep each other in check. Mr House is a control freak, and nobody should have power over the whole world. The NCR needed its teeth kicked in to realize that the Old World is dead, and trying to rebuild it will only bring all its problems back.

The Legion are just fucking psychopaths.

Best scenario? Mr House.
Most interesting? Independent.

Although there is a problem with the independent, if it is actually mentioned to any significant degree then they will have to give the courier a cannon character. This will piss plenty of people off, even though i would actually quite like it. Personally, it sort of pisses me off when spineless developers bend over backward in order to keep the protagonist of past games completely ambiguous. I know people get attached to characters they make and the decisions they chose, but it's either one version is cannon, or none of them are. Unless they are going for some strange multiverse where the timeline is actually an infinite number of different timelines that accommodate every possible out come. But that's not bending over backwards, that's bending over backwards so hard that their torso wraps right around until they are standing upright again.

The best scenario would be NCR, (play your cards right and the worst thing that happens to a good aligned character is that they're kind of disappointed).

Independent might have the potential for the most interesting. Nuke NCR and Legion trade routes, convince companions to become gunslingers, encourage Great Khans to build their own Empire, make Boomers even more xenophobic, decapitate heads of peace-keeping groups, let the Brotherhood become high-tech raiders, blow up the damn and your own army which is one of the few things that can keep order in independent, etc. I sometimes like to roleplay a character that wants to create his own version of the wild west.

In between is Mr. House. Technological progressive but pretty ruthless. New Vegas flourishes and I find something interesting about the Courier acting as his Dragon.

Only one I'd be very miffed with is Legion victory.

Edit: One thing I believe though is that while a rosy ending could be considered by some to boring an ending where jack shit changes or the cycle of people being jerks comes full circle can also be boring.

There's also that one Dead Money ending where you team up with Elijah and unleash that toxic corrosive gas cloud on Vegas...

Anyways, I'm going to say none of them/doesn't matter: in Lonesome Road it was mentioned that those creepy scaly tunnellers are breeding and may someday overrun the Mojave. I bet that happens, and everyone dies, and no one cares or remembers who took over Vegas. *gets boo'ed off stage*

Captcha: chicken feed. Hmmm....

While the NCR ending is certainly the best ending, the ending that I think should be canon is the Independent ending, mostly because the other endings don't really fit the tone of Fallout, and don't leave much room for progression as a series on the West Coast. None of the endings except for the House ending are really all that interesting, and again, none of them have much room for sequels, even though I always side with the NCR.

Do we know that Fallout 4 is going to be centered on the west coast? I always figured the next game would jump back over to the east coast again.
I believe that Obsidian has expressed interest in doing a Los Angeles based sequel to NV.

As for me, either NCR or Independent. Too bad about House being a fascist, but of course New Vegas avoids easy answers (though granted the Legion could have been presented better).

Actually if you're able to do it extremely well you can get it to where everyone is happy, and no one is upset. But it takes a lot of micromanaging in the end and can easily be missed. The hardest part is with the Great Khans because that one can easily get messed up if you're not careful or a glitch occurs. Arcade Gannon's ending is the closest one to which he might not be as happy, but even in that one he becomes a teacher and moves back into NCR territory just fine. To get Cass' good ending you need to side with the NCR, and also not kill the people she wants to kill. Getting Boone's best ending can be difficult due to him requiring enough points along the journey to make it work. Veronica can also get a good ending if the Brotherhood sides with the NCR and the NCR give back the Power Armor they took from Helios One. Veronica will say how she's glad that at least the Brotherhood of Steel in the Mojave is changing a little bit. Lily is by far the easiest one since you just have to get her to take her meds so that her mental condition stabilizes. ED-E is also pretty easy due to the repairs and everything for him generally being obtainable way before the ending. Rex is much like ED-E as well when it comes to getting his stuff long before the main quest. Raul can be a bit tricky if you don't know what to say right, but his Vacqero ending is pretty good.

And those are just for the side characters and Great Khans, for all other factions, well except for House, Yes Man, and the Legion obvious, it requires even more micro-managing.

That's pretty much what I meant. The 'golden' ending's downsides aren't very significant and hard to get, (baring a few bugs I've had).
Ah, okay. I must have misunderstood you.
If I may ask, did the glitches involve the Great Khans? I've played that game so many times that I've always gotten issues with the Great Khans the most more than any other faction. Mainly it's when trying to convince them to migrate out of the area to get their best ending.

Independent. I like the idea of a unique city that doesn't need militia or an army. (assuming the Robots have been upgraded with the chip)

No I've had a fairly smooth time with them. I've mostly had trouble with Raul and Lily's quests. Raul just doesn't seem to want to chat after the second person he's met to meet if he even gets that far. I've apparently met the criteria but I can never start Lily's quest. The wiki says it's unmarked and I just have to wait to hear her recording but that hasn't happened. Looks like she's going on a fruitless quest to find her grandchildren or what remains of them.

For Lily it seems to happen at random times, the longest it ever took me to get that tape to play while having her active in my party was about 5 hours. In Raul's case you may have to go through the specific dialogue choices for Ranger Andy, Corporal Sterling, and finally Loyal multiple times since sometimes Raul won't hear it. I'll admit that I've had some issues with that before as well, but it usually works after that.

Thanks for that. If I ever decide to start a new game I'll have to try that.
Np problem. With how many times I've played New Vegas I've managed to find creative ways to fix tons of bugs. Ironically enough most of my time on New Vegas was with the PS3 version, which I still never got as many bugs as the version of Skyrim on the 360. Maybe that's why I've played New Vegas with over 43 characters and Skyrim with only one. :3

None, really. I like what I imagined up, and none of it really has anything to do with the major factions since I enjoy -not- beating the game thanks to no post ending game, or new game+ (And I hate that the XP glitch was patched. It was kinda new game+ to me.) I've seen all but the Legion ending, and since I really hate the Legion, I won't be personally playing towards it.

More over, it won't likely reflect anything I've done in DLC.

I want Fallout 4 to be on the East Coast and therefore completely removed from the events of New Vegas.
For personal reasons I'd like NCR, but realistically they'd go with Independent.
