On Topic. I'd love to see a Fallout game set in England. Maybe some branching out into Ireland for DLC or something. :D
I'm going to be honest there is a lot of empty space in ireland without it being nuked(also who would nuke ireland)

No, because the weather would always be terrible, everyone would constantly be complaining and if it snowed, whatever settlements or shelters or whatever developed would cease to function.
/being bitter about today's England
With all the radiation and fallout do you think there would be much snow? :p

Touche. But still, if our entire country basically stops with snow, I doubt anyone would even bother trying if we got nuked.
Fallout: England would just be you wondering around with a load of people sitting in shacks.

Never said it had to be nuked. It could be like Point Lookout or (in my understanding) The Mojave Wasteland. Untouched by nukes, fucked by radiation.
Fair enough but the lack of things to do sill stands :p

Well maybe you could set it with an eternal 60s culture kind of like how the US is stuck in the 50s. Nuclear cars that explode when you shoot them painted like the Union Jack anyone?

No. I don't think it would work all that well to do Fallout outside America. But if you are going to do it outside America don't do it in a country that:

A)Is culturally very simular to America in the 1950's.
B)Doesn't play a very important role in Fallout universe.

If your going to do a Fallout outside America do it in China. It plays an important Pre War role in the Fallout universe, meaning there's a certain amount of pre existing lore to build on and it's very, VERY different to America meaning you could have a radically different Fallout game while retaining elements that keep it grounded within that universe (Ghouls, mutated animals, robots, a dark sense of humour).

I've never seen post apocalyptic China, or many games set in China at all for that matter. If your going to do something different make it Different with a capital D, don't do something safe and boring.

Its already sinking into the ocean as is. I doubt after it was blown to hell and back it would still be above sea level.

The only issue I can see is the availability of firearms. There are way fewer guns (per head of population) in the UK than in the states so it would be probably heavily melee focused.

I think it could work. especially if it's set in a city like London. Hyde Park filled with deathclaws, Madame tussauds as a ghoul hangout (is it a wax figure... or something else Muahahah!).

And of course there is the vast network of underground tunnels dating from god knows when.

I think it would be a little bit more... depressing and dark than the USA version. I think it could be made to feel far more isolated than the USA setting where you meet people or mutants all the fricking time and it seems that the apocalypse was more a mass change in fashion than a nuclear holocaust.

EDIT- definitely a hellgate london vibe but I would rather see a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. type game where you really are alone against the environment most of the time.

Also, while Vault-Tec has the Pip Boy, a suitable alternative that fulfills the same function wouldnt be too hard to come up with. Instead of the Pip Boy character it could have Mr Chumley Warner. A sample: http://www.funny-videos.co.uk/videochristmastidingsfromharryenfield.html

I wouldn't know as I've never been, so I'll take your word for it. >.<
I live there and an open world scene wouldn't work to much, but as an expansion it might work

I only have limited A-Level Physics and Mechanics knowledge - you probably know more about this sort of thing than I do. But I'm not 100% convinced that a few nuclear explosions would have anywhere near the force required to sink such a large landmass, let alone move it at all...

They couldn't use their trademark cold war parody so much if it were in England. I'd still buy a Fallout set there, though.

It would be potentially doable, but I would think it would be best if they actually brought on a European dev. team, so it doesn't come of as an aping of European culture. Also, as long as we're throwing out cities: Venice. Think, the causways boiling and radioactive, not to mention infested with some sort of mutant squid, the buildings crawling with sniper nests, raiders setting up toll booths on the bridges. It would be pretty awesome.

Being from England, I can safely say that it would NOT work.

I just think that Fallout is meant to be in America, it wouldn't work as well anywhere else and England doesn't really have the right environment for it.
