I don't think so. There is much more to the Fallout series than simply being set in a world ravaged by nuclear war.

The culture is intrinsic to the franchise. If you set it anywhere other than the USA, you're going to lose a big, big part of the game.

I've said this time and time again yes a fallout game would work in Briton in particular London there is no evidence in the fallout universe so far that there is not british branch of vault-tech or its equivalent.
Also anyone saying that there would be no signature fallout equipment should question why there is so much Chinese equipment in areas not invaded by Chinese forces.
However in the end if the fallout develpoment team wants a game set in england they will alter canon until it fits.

Most definitely a good time would be had in post apocalyptic England. Besides, its about time the video games industry diversified their selection of stereotypes, the Russian, German and American ones are getting worn a bit thin. Next step, Fallout New Sweden.

Sadly not, as much as I'd love to see another free-roam game take place in my homeland... Fallout is an American series. The whole charm in fallout is how it makes fun of the whole 1960s-70s cold war propaganda and how the world was at that time. I don't think that charm would work in the U.K as we never (officially) entered the cold war and I'm doubting they'd be all that much to make fun off when it comes to nukes.

It would work best if it would take England with a nice little grain of salt.

Y'know, hilarious accents, slapstick humour and at least one person looking and talking like Baldric from Blackadder^^

Guns aren't nearly as wide-spread in Europe as they're in America. No Second Amendment here. I think European post-apocalypse-land would look a lot more like The Road than Mad Max or Fallout.

It would really depend. I don't think the Fallout canon has anything to do with the UK, though I imagine they would be the US's allies in the war. So maybe there would be a little nuclear action going on.

No, because there is no vaults in England.
Also, this. There would be no vaults in the UK. I'm not saying that it would be impossible to make one simply because there are no vaults, since people managed to stay alive outside of vaults anyway, but no vaults means no Pip-Boys. The Pip-Boy is a device that, not in-game mind you, bridges the noticeable gap between game and character. It gives you a tangible device that gives you information, so that you aren't just looking at in-game menus. I feel like no Pip-Boys would take away the subtle charm that it provides, which would actually do more damage than it may seem. The developers may have to think of a clever work-around, without ruining the canon.
ahh yes but you could very easily have a quest where you find a box of pip boys or such and a community which you could be doing quest for early before you turn into a adult gets

I think a fallout game in Canada (prb Toronto, I think my home town Winnipeg might be too obscure) would make more sense, as it was occupied by the States during the war, and would therefore probably be more significant to the canon of the North American based Fallout series. Not to say an English one wouldn't work, just that I'd rather see one up here in Canada. One problem though, the snow animations for a Canadian fallout would probably crash the game all the time.

ahh but IN A WAR there are bound to be plenty of military units running around with what? guns so you wouldn't find as many guns that wouldn't be used for war but even with no guns i find that a post-war game based on more melee weapons since most guns would be rusted beyond repair anyway to be quite entertaining and maybe a secretish weapon like the alien blaster only in melee form would be oh say excaliber?

No.

Fallout Scotland, on the other hand, more specifically Edinburgh... ;)

But yeah, I'd like Fallout to explore another country's reaction, post war Britain was pretty cool culture-wise. Anywhere in Europe, actually...
You don't need a game - Edinburgh looks post-apocalyptic already!

A Fallout London would be cool. Clearly the whole world became a nuclear warzone, but I'd imagine the UK would be spared (primarily because it would only take a few to cover our landmass).

The Underground would be FAR more interesting than D.C.'s metro, and the landmarks would be interesting.

Plus, you'd have a good mix of really old buildings (Victorian, Edwardian etc.) and more modern 50s ones.

On Topic. I'd love to see a Fallout game set in England. Maybe some branching out into Ireland for DLC or something. :D
Amen to this! Being an Irishman I think it'd be pretty awesome to have a "blast from the past" moment and have a heavily re-industrialised England trying to lay claim to Ireland (again). As long as I got to side with the Irish. >.>

Only problem is I'm pretty sure both England and Ireland sunk, or something to that affect.

No because not only is it changing Cannon it is changing the whole feel of the game. The game is supposed to be in 1950s but somehow super advanced America playing on the culture at the time. Also given that according to cannon there are no Vaults in Europe at least due to Vault tec knowledge but at this point you're getting into a bit of Deus Ex Machina. Given that I don't what English culture was like I would assume it never got past the 50s either. Given that Europeans have less firearms regardless of how you want to look at it. So there should then be less weapons and guns to go around. It would be interesting but just too many flaws. Given that it won't be cannon it will not be well received by fan base. Well probably not.

Why not? at least it will be full of the best accent in the world! except russian.
I should have known I would meet my soalmate on the escapist! (jokejoke) Anyway I agree that Russian and British accents are the best. If only there were some game like fallout where the nuclear winter hit Russia. A game with lots of Russian people living out the apocalypse together in Moscow. Perhaps in the metro system? Nah im being silly now.

But in all seriousness I think a fallout game set somewhere other than Amarica would rock.

I think Fallout New York would me more likely first.

Surprisingly there is very little to no information on what happened to New York during the war.

"The only issue I can see is the availability of firearms"

Well seeing as how fallout occurs because of wars surely England would have a large stockpile of weapons. I may be wrong seeing as how i don't know much fallout lore.

Yeah it's easy to do. Write the back story of England as being the 51st State, heavily into American goods and culture, and have all the American 50s style with a British flavour.

I can see the Vault billboards now: "Come on in! We've got tea!"
