it honestly depends, when i was younger i didn't care for it at all but since i've been getting older i've been liking it more and more, which is odd but oh well, i don't watch it consistently but if it's on i'll enjoy it, i used to watch a whole ton of futurama but after i got done with that south park and family guy have mostly filled the void...

Nay. Big fat Nay. Early episodes were good, but it's humor has sunk to 'Portal Meme' level.... the Chicken fights, 'SSSSS....AAAAHHH', "Here's something you'll really like!", and "Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty!" all get reeeaaallly old really fast. Seth's leftism is getting grating quickly (even if I am a mid-leftist myself) and his arrogance and hubris is dragging the show down with him.

My friend one time made a joke saying "The official definition of "******" isn't a derogatory term for gay person! It's a person who thinks Family Guy is better than Futurama!" The more I think on it, and the more Futurama I watch... the more I agree.

American Dad is better in my opinion, Family Guy is more "low brow" I guess. I prefer The Simpsons.
Thank you! It seems everybody my age (17) thinks the Simpsons is a stupid cartoon. That show is a classic and such statements make me ashamed of my generation.

The humor became less random and more topical, and I started to get the feeling that Seth Macfarlane was using the show as a political platform to occasionally jump up and say, "If you are not a left-wing, atheistic, secular humanist then you are, without question, a self-righteous, closed-minded, ignorant, hatemonger."
I could not STAND when they got up on that little soapbox. It's comedy. I don't mind if you bash me for being right-wing, I mind it when you only do that and pass us off as people who should be ignored.

I stoped watching the show because the jokes got stale and I'm tired of being told that my views are eeeevvvviiiillll. Then again, I don't watch much TV any more.
Agreed and agreed.

It's one thing to poke fun at people who believe things that you don't, it's another thing entirely to overgeneralize and paint huge groups of people as "ignorant idiots" just because they believe differently than you do.

And I don't watch much TV any more either. I like your avatar by the way.

I don't watch it anymore. Don't like the newer stuff really. I did see one scene that I thought was funny (The bull spitwad thing) because someone told me to look it up, but that is all I have seen lately of it.

As others have said, Family Guy is very hit-and-miss for me.

Many jokes fall flat, but occasionally I do find one hilarious. Like the Street Fighter parody that had Peter jumping around pulling off Hadoukens.

I guess it's ok, but I'd probably look for something else if it came on.

I still love the cutaways, but there's way too much "Stewie and Brian: The Odd Couple" and not enough :EAT PLASMA VILE WOMAN: in the episodes since its return from cancellation.

You stole the words out of my mind. "Guilty pleasure" is exactly how I'd describe my position on family guy. It's crude and immature, but hey, so am I!

Liked the first 5 or 6 seasons, can't watch any episodes after that, don't find them as funny and fun as they used to be.

I'm the type that never forgets good things so I can't choose either options.

I liked it when it was more focused on it's original goal. Remember how it came out? The whole show was geared to be a subversion and a nod/homage to all the great (and awful) sitcoms of yesteryear making references to them and playing off some of the moments that made those shows wholesome by dirtying it up a little for comedic effect. It was great and well written but after a few seasons it became unfocused and randomly references whatever in an attempt to be funny while the show as a whole doesn't really have anything weighing it down anymore and it just degrades itself to be entertaining.

This really does happen to everything though I mean you can enjoy certain things like family guy even after it's lost it's prime strength but to be honest any show willing to keep there dignity intact should close there doors the second the star talent goes away or at least after the mandatory 3 to four seasons most cartoon shows get anyhow.

I've seen more people than I have blood cells say "Oh, Family Guy used to be good, now it's gotten dim and sucks", but I've only met one other person, my ladyfriend (whom you'd be on the right track to assume that was one main reason she became my ladyfriend), besides myself, who thought it was a steaming pile of shite from the very beginning.

So nay. I say nay.

Somewhere in between. It's a bit of a roller coaster. Family Guy's good episodes are great. The bad ones suck worse than DNF. And the really good ones are few and far between...

The Simpsons is better, overall. The good episodes might not top the best episodes of Family Guy, but it's more consistently entertaining. And the bad episodes aren't as bad as bad Family Guy episodes.

the older series are the best.
some of the new episodes and approach they've taken i really dislike ie unsubtly implying stewie is a homosexual, louis is now a condescending *****, everyone makes fun of brians intelligence, peter griffins characters stupidity has gotten to the point where i want to stab something. overall a lot of the stuff in more recent series have turned into seth macfarlane just dissing on celebrities he doesnt like in the most unfunny way possible

It was much better when it first started i find, i liked it much more back then. But i find it to be more hit and miss now but with more misses seems like they are just running out of good things and are just being stupid

It's hit or miss with me, mostly a miss. I feel like it's been going downhill for a little bit, and some of the jokes are just plain boring. I'm not a fan of the whole "Stewie is gay" bit either, it's just silly. That being said, it's still better than most of the Cleveland Show, or Bob's Burger's

The Cleveland Show is just stupid. I'm surprised it hasn't been cancelled.

I still like it, but the latest eps are not as good as the old episodes. Like the Simpsons, it has run its course.

Now it's just a vehicle for Seth McFarlane's political and religious ideology.
