No. I hate fan-fiction. I believe fan fiction destroys the very series/franchise/whatever that they're supposed to pay homage to.

It really depends. If its good fanfic please share it and let the world love you for it.

If its genera bending, I would sugest keeping it to yourself and those select forums that enjoy that kind of thing.

Though of course you don't have to take any of this to heart. I have my biases. Such as a complete lack of love for Yaoi and related fanfiction. I am not saying that I hate the people or their view but I am saying that I hate those forms of fanfic.

Depends what kind of fan-fiction, if the writer puts effort into it, maybe has an original or interesting take that would never appear in the original source, than it's a very worth while artistic expression. So I suppose I would have to say yes.

I've read some of the worst dregs of the internet and humanity from fanfiction.

That said, I've occasionally read things that are beyond amazing. I'd link to decent ones- or at least the so bad it's good ones- but I think I can save time like this-

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FanFic/FanFics

I've gone through that list, and agree with most of it. Though I will admit to not really examining things I've never heard of.
Oh, and I do write things occasionally if the game itself disappoints me. But it doesn't really see the light of day, because it's more for me.

I've seen some very bad and shallow fanfic, but I nevertheless encourage it. (Too much) Personal thought put into a fanfic ruins it, unlike one I saw based on the Queen's Blade series. I was amazed, how a guy put reason and logics of the characters personalities into a short story and made it interesting, even without all the infamous half-nudity.

I usually read (written) fanfics as a joke. I find the often stupid plot, very bad spelling and grammar to be amusing. I look for the funny stories, not so much the well written ones. I also reading Fan Fiction Friday on Topless Robot because of the editor's comments during the fanfics. If all the R rated fanfic went away, I wouldn't miss it but it entertains me while it's here.

Video fanfics go over better though. I like parodies and some of them are really good, usually funnier than written ones.

If any of you are interested in really batshit crazy fanfiction, check out ComicsNix on fanfiction.net. His stuff is hilarious, especially his comics.

I usually hate fanfics because they focus way too much on self insertions and stuff. I don't read things written about a character I like to read about the author, I want to read about the character.

Also, I've once read a fanfic about Ridley and Samus from Metroid in high school, dating. And also, Ridley had horrible acne in extreme detail, and got Samus pregnant...

I like french toast and pancakes better, but waffles are good.

OT:
no, there is the odd one thats okay, and the extremely rare one where people should change the names and sell it as a novel.
but they are all eclipsed by the majority of fangirls who write about some of my favorite video game/manga/anima characters like it rough from men with hairy bums.
among them, slippyxwolf, cloudxsephiroth, cloudxcait sith, cloudxredIIX, cloudxvincent, soraxriku, soraxroxas, axelxroxas, axelxsiax ,salemxrios(which ruined ALL gay jokes about them) and then the left4dead "explorations"
dont get me wrong, im not homophobic.
but these girls get into some pretty sick stuff T_T

The thing with fanfiction is that 99.9% of it is laughably terrible.

I beseech you, I'd love a link to have a good laugh at that if you can remember. I don't expect you to scour the net for me, but even a name to send me in the right direction lol.

That is completely my point. Thank you for explaining it easily.

Honestly, if I could remember, I'd tell you the name of it, or who wrote it or something. I haven't seen it in a few years, but I think it was on a site called fanfiction.net, or something like that. I really can't remember much else at this point, since I just found it while looking for the most ridiculous fanfic I could. lol

Damn. I love the stories like that. I remember one I read where this author wrote a story about Optimus Prime having sex with a cyber-woman. After much drama, they had a baby. Not only did the author write herself in as the cyber-woman, she wrote in her child as the baby. I bet the father is really pleased he had sex with her now. :p

I've been in a recent wave of pokemon-induced nostalgia, and I've been reading some of the fanfics on adult fan fiction. Some are good, some are ok, and others are just blatant pornography.
People write about what they wanna write about, isn't that what art is?

I could link you a really sick pokemon story but it's horrible and it would probably break a rule or two.

lmfao. I never even thought to look for stuff like that about Transformers. But now I have tons of questions of what they'd even do in those kinds of situations. Like, since they aren't flesh and blood, like humans and animals, I have no idea how alot of that would work in a Transformer's version of it.
