Poll: Far Cry 2... like it? hate it?

So, Far cry 2? I`ve searched the forums and found very few topics on the matter .
I was wandering about the feature that bores the most in this game, thus the poll.


PS: Can somebody please tell me how the @#$% do you take the diamond case from the top of the wagon in the Oil Company compound ?

There are to many outposts and patrols, I can`t go anywhere without having to kill a million mercs.

I'm surprised how many people fail to realize that this game is a SHOOTER.

Anyway, needs more bus stops, the shirtless enemies that are virtually invincible, need to at least LOOK like they are invincible (though to be fair, you take a lot of hits too), the AI needs to be ****ing CONSISTENT - this AI is either the best or the worst at times - and. The repetetive side missions I can handle because I'm not restricted to what I do (unless it's one of those main missions, especially near the end), all it is, is "get the job done".

No hate here mate. I really like the game and I play it whenever I have the time, but there is something in this game that really bores me to the point that I can only play for about 2 hours before deciding is time to do something else.

i found that NPC's talk really really fast....
i know it doesn't sound like much, but it can seriously get in the way of immmersion, it just tells me every time i hear an NPC that im in a game, not a real world.

I don't know how I feel about the game yet. I'm not a huge fan of 'immersive' UIs and such (what's so bad about a damn map screen?) The weapon limits seem arbitrarily restrictive. Why can't I just hold whatever four weapons I want like Far Cry 1? No no no, I have to abide by some sort of cosmic gun karma law which states I can't hold an assault rifle and a sniper rifle at the same time, but I can hold a sniper rifle and a heavy machine gun?

Speaking of, why do the heavy machine guns suck so much? Again there seems to be some kind of overriding FPS logic here which states any gun with a high rate of fire and a huge clip must be incredibly inaccurate and do pitiful damage, even if it fires .50 cal bullets. The inaccuracy of firing from the hip is atrocious; try firing at a building from ten feet away with the AK (and the accuracy upgrade) and watch as the bullets spray from floor to ceiling. At point blank range, you literally cannot hit a wall you are standing in front of.

But burning stuff is fun.

I love the game, but the outposts and jeeps (especially in the south) can get annoying at times. I don't mind shooting guys obviously, I'd just like the game more if it were slightly more similar to GTA; you get a mission, go to a certain location, and blow some stuff up. I'd love it if it were just that.

The weapons are pretty good, but as said, the heavy machine guns are awful. Especially the ones on jeeps, every time I try to use it on someone I find myself aiming at an enemy and having to hold the trigger for about 5 seconds before they kick the bucket. So far the only accurate primary weapon I've found is the Silenced MP5, so I use that in combination with the Dart Rifle. Bit of a hassle, but it works.

What also bothers me is the fact that buddies aren't really helping me out at all. They're just a liability really.

What are peoples thoughts on the multiplayer?
Gotta say i funking love it, uprising is the best game type in my opinion whether you get to be captain or not as long as your not playing with a bunch of idiots the parameters of uprising force a basic need for teamwork and it suits the style of the game really well.

P.S The Mac 10 makes the MOST satisfying noise when you fire it.

Most of the time the npc's are even speaking english, it's afrikaans.

And the thing I dont like most, is the patrols. When you play it on the max difficulty they kill you super fast.

The big thing that annoyed me about Far Cry 2 was the replayabillity which they said would be awesome and a 'unique experience every time'. Well, its far from it. You just spawn in a different place with different NPCs, none of which influence anything to do with the storyline. I would have completed Far Cry 2 a second time if I hadn't had an extremely annoying bug which made my buddies shoot me on sight. Don't even get me started on the DIRE multiplayer. Far Cry 2 gave me an amazing weekend, but its sitting idle on my shelf now.

yeah the patrols do get annoying, but you can avoid them, and without them travelling woud be a bit boring...
also, i mostly meant npc's you talk to, its almost like they cut out any gap in their talking, even in important bits!

Can't say I'm too impressed, it feels like an less balanced version of COD4 if I'm honest. There's just too many snipers and too many dudes who just use grenade launchers and flamethrowers in every match. The environments are pretty good though.

I actually enjoyed the difficulty of sneeking around, it kept me on the edge of my seat during the whole game, I didn't find many problems in the game, the nav. system was the worst, the huge game area and the hard to navigate maps that you constantly need to pull out even while driving was just too much. I honestly don't see why I can't just have a better gps taped to my arm to save me the hastle.

For those saying that the game is easy, I suggest playing on a harder difficulty. Being shot once and losing 1/3rd of your health does not make any game easy. If you're using a sniper rifle, stop. That's easy mode much like archery is easy mode in oblivion.

All in all, the game is ok. It's nothing spectacular but it does what it intended to do very well. Some issues I have are the guard posts respawning faster than they should and the malaria.

I'd have to say neither Love it or Hate it. I really like the game, but there are some problems that really detract from it. The AI in general is just bad and there are enough encounters with it that I really begin to dread some of the encounters because it just plays so bad. I mean multiple times I've had guys running windsprints because the AI has no idea what to do when they encounter enemies. They just end up running back and forth across the screen.

The most annoying thing is the travel times to missions. They wouldn't be so bad if there weren't patrols and outposts to be avoided (in vain) and fuck you up. The missions also end up being fairly repetitive, though I haven't reached the second area of the game so hopefully things will pick up then.

I still like the game and enjoy playing it, though.

Just press "H", because in Far Cry 2, it takes NO time for medicine to take effect - though one time I went on with malaria without treating it for a long time, and nothing happened. Malaria is just for shits and giggles in that game.

played it and thought it was great but now its seems to have dropped to ok
im not really sure why either i cant really put my finger on it.
