The correct Arabic name is Altaïr.

All arabic words, when translated into english are spelled phonetically, and therefore there are a great many correct spellings. Example: Muhammad, Mohammad, Mohommed and so forth.

The general format (and this is VERY general) for an arabic name is <Father's Name> , and it can quickly get quite complex. A well known example is Saddam Hussein al-Tikritti.

Altaïr Ibn La-Ahad is the full name of the character, and if I'm not mistaken it translates into (roughly) Altair - Bird (it's closer to flier actually, i'm always fuzzy on context here)Ibn (son) la-Ahad (of none).

All that said, none of the characters listed are really my "favorites". I'd probably go with Garret from Thief for my favorite of all time.
