I mostly like chilled out metal, alternativey stuff, sixties rock, and trance/techno/whatever stuff, but I'll listen to anything that sounds nice.

I mainly like gangsta rap, pop, emocore and metalcore.

My favourite bands are the Jonas Brothers, Slipknot, Lil Wayne, Taking Back Sunday and Lady Gaga.
I also occasionally listen to Nazi Germany anthems and racist skinhead music.
Somehow I find this less offensive than all the people name-dropping obsure metal sub-genres.

OT: I listen to idnie rock band such as Spoon, The New Pornograhphers, Neutral Milk Hotel, Belle and Sebastian etc, so I guess I can't get away with saying I find metal offensive.

Not at all. Completely different genres, although to say one stemmed from the other is true. Genres are like branches on a tree.

I'm sorry, but I only listen to Techno (specifically most of the Hardcore genres) and I feel kindof left out in this poll.
That's pretty much what I was going to say...

Can't go with one, but I'm rather fond of prog rock (I'd say Journey is awesome, but someone would kill me for that), symphonic and power metal, some J-pop/rock, alt rock in the vein of They Might Be Giants and Barenaked Ladies, possibly nerdcore and comedic rap (like many I love The Lonely Island, and I've heard good rap remixes), and whatever Enya fits into (she's the artist in that genre that comes to mind).

Of course, there's also a good bit of video game music I like, and my music tastes are actually rather broad. The above was just me trying to give responses less generic than "rock."

I'm a fan of Indie/Alternative, which is what I voted for, but I also like rock, pop (sometimes), metal (sometimes), orchestral, and jazz. The one thing I'm just not a fan of is rap/hip hop.

These thread never have an "all" option. :(

I guess if it I had to pick, it would be jazz. Everything I love about music has roots in jazz somewhere. Even if it's not jazz, it applies many ideas of it and has a similar free and open feeling.

Where doth be the option for either punk or indie? Either one would be my answer if one were here.

If both were here- I would A) give you some kind of award for having such cool options and B) vote for punk.

Mustaine facepalming is possibly the best avatar I've seen in a while.

OT - It used to be death metal, but now I'm listening to the older bands like Mercyful Fate, Manilla Road, etc.

I approve of this post.
If you're like most of the people in this thread, I've got one hell of a deal-breaker for you: I cannot fucking stand metal or purely orchestrated music.

That's ok. The fact that you like all of those amazing genres makes up for it.

Although orchestrated music... meh.

I guess these 3 songs best define me. I like pop, rock, some electro/techno/house stuff. Damn, my musical preferance is all over the place.
