K now before anyone hates me for selecting COD I only put it on there because the only other game on that list I've played was God of War Chains of Olympus and I didn't really enjoy it for some reason. I really don't know why I normally would, but I'd just finished playing Crisis Core through and I had heaps of fun with that so I suppose that would be my favourite RPG hack and slash. Also Jedi Knight 2 and 3 can be considered hack and slash in my opinion, at least on the levels where you aren't using guns much. I liked those.

i didnt put diablo 2 on the list because i consider it a rpg and it is old. all the games on the list are recent, or have recent incarnations. i know it is not that specific. as for the "i dont play games", it was a mistake and i meant to put "i dont play hack and slash games". but diablo 2 is better than all of the choices.Red Right Hand said:

Blah blah blah, . The only one of those I actually own is Darksiders, and I haven't started it yet. There are plenty of others (from the past three decades, not just the past three years) that I have played and liked, though. Depending on how broadly you interpret hack-and-slash, I'd nominate stuff like No More Heroes and Zeno Clash (at least in spirit), several of the old 2D brawlers, some action-heavy RPGs like Secret/Legend of Mana, and even D&D (where the term came from), depending on the group you play with. And of course obviously ARPGs like:

I was sad at first when I saw the list of games in the poll, and then I was more sad that it took so long for people to complain about the lack of what's traditionally been considered hack-and-slash, but then I was happy that someone mentioned Titan Quest before I did. I was really surprised by how much fun I had with it, considering that I could never really get into Diablo. Any year now the remains of the TQ team will finish/release Grim Dawn. Just because it's not recent doesn't mean that it can't still be a favourite game for many people. Also, it pretty much completely perfected the top-down, hack and slash, adventure genre. Ever wondered why there were pretty much no games like it released after it was? Because nothing could significantly improve what diablo 2 did already. I'll say this now: It's pretty much as perfect game as we're gonna get for a long time. I also hold Starcraft in that fashion as well. However, I feel Starcraft is too perfect for it's own good, I could never find any enjoyment in playing it.
