100 points to poleboy for mentioning Cube, even tho I can't really nominate the Cube itself as a 'bad guy'.

I would have to with Freddy Kreuger as my first, even tho there's a lot of really silly scenes in many of the movies, and later on Pinhead from Hellraiser. Jigsaw I also found interesting, tho.

Cube is a great movie tho, I recommend it hugely, although its only partly 'horror' I guess.

I didn't really mention it in that sense, just used it to illustrate how Saw could have been an interesting movie.

It would be a tie between Darth Vader and the guy who played Lucifer off of Constantine
Peter Stormare, he also playe the nihilist Karl Hungus in the Big Lebowski, and the mute in Fargo. And the executioner in the Brother's Grimm. He's good shit.

What about Captain Vidal from Pan's Labyrinth? It's not really a horror movie, per se, but he is still the best villian ever.
Example: He's running an outpost of the Spanish Army during the Civil War looking for rebels in the forest. His soldiers find two rabbit hunters, and, assuming they're spies, take them to him. He questions them, but getting no response he takes a bottle and uses it to beat their noses into their faces. Searching the bag he finds two rabbits, and yells at the soldiers; it's their fault.

Such a good movie. Class, your homework: See Pan's Labyrinth.

Was a close one for me between Freddie and Jason as well, but eventually I went for Jason because who doesn't love a machete wielding, hockey mask clad, near invincible psychopath that misses his mam?
Well, Freddy, for one.

Those two just don't get along.

Anybody see The Intruder? starring sam and ted rami?

Anyway, the villian in that movie is SICK! he skips through the produce section swinging a head and singing with this big smile. and the scariest part is, hes just some normal guy who loves the store and doesnt want to see it close. Its terrifying.

Bonus: bruce campbell makes a very young camio.

Ah touché.

I'd also like to throw in Evil Ash from Army Of Darkness.

I voted Jason, just classic.

Another good one that no one's mentioned is the Tall Man from Phantasm. He's this tall, creepy old dude that poses as an undertaker, but he's actually a transdimensional monster that takes the dead bodies and turns them into undead midget servants!

...I know it sounds really weird but it's a pretty good movie.

I heard it was good and strange, and it seems like you're confirming that.

Sweet.

The Tall man seconded, The chap from Halloween three now he was an evil genius. The bloody theme tune from the happy shamrock mask adds give me the creeps everytime I hear it and yet I walk around humming it for the two week run up to halloween!

And for those who havent seen Scream or indeed the first Friday the Thirteenth Jason does not appear apart from in the very final frame, I dont think that that constitutes a spoiler.

The pissed off military types from Severence are also pretty terrifying, watch it its kind of like a British black comedy remake of Hostel but good!

I would have said The Predator but he's not really a "villain" per se.

I'm going to have to roll with Pinhead. He is so cold and twisted, but not without a seriously warped sense of humour. He is also a vicious butcher.

Well, the Predator could count.

I mean, if the Alien from Alien counts, I think the Predator fine as well.

My "favorite" is Hannibal Lecter, why isn't he on the list?
Agreed! He is definitely one of the most clever antagonists out there.

Jigsaw is mine, he's not a cold blooded killer like the others, and i can respect his motives. plus he's just clever as all get out
