Point One: It'd just be "Doctor", he's called "The Doctor", not "Doctor Who". Common misconception.

Point Two: Why does everyone feel the need to compare them? I loved Eccleston, I loved Tennant, and I love Smith. I can't choose between them, just as I can't choose one particular episode or one particular writer to be my favourite.

I loved David Tennant, but Matt Smith has done a great job at expanding on both things which made the Tenth and Ninth Doctors great. Matt is excellent with the lighthearted energy on one hand, but at the drop of a hat can become the dark badass of the Ninth. He's phenomenal...and bow ties are cool.

This was a good one too...

Number four I do believe. Most of the Who fans of America don't know him though. I'm one of the few...
That was actually the first doctor I saw, back when BBC Kids used to play reruns here in Canada. I love the little joke when the Tenth Doctor is picking an outfit, and he picks up the fourth doctor's scarf.

Well, I was sort of referring to each of the new series. Not as many people would have posted if the title was just the Doctor. By adding the Who to it, people know what the subject is. Misconception put to good use.

Oh don't get me wrong, I understood why you did it, I'm just a pedant.

Well, my head exploded from the dual sexiness on display. Thanks, guys.

OT: David Tennant as my first choice, as he was great and got me into Dr. Who. That and I have a massive man-crush on him. Second is Matt Smith as he's brought a youthful energy with him and basically reminds me of a puppy bouncing around at times. And bringing up the rear, Christopher Eccles-cake. ...I meant Eccleston! But he was also very good, just not as good as the other two. Nothing memorable about his lines, really.

I too have a man-crush on Tennant. He is so handsome, especially when he's serious. And he really pulls of his suit (although he doesn't fit in blue...)

I think the reason Eccleston didn't last so long was that since it was a reboot of the series, they needed to make the new fans familiar with the concept of there being a new Doctor every now and then. If they had kept him longer, they would be very disappointed when they lose the magnificent charm and charisma that is Christopher Eccleston.

It's really hard to choose between the 10th and 11th(I didn't like 9 much). Tennant showed the emotions and seriousness that comes with being a Time Lord. He was a brilliant Doctor and added so many wonderful catchphrases. "Molto bene!" "Allons-y!"
Matt Smith also does a fantastic job, but he's more on the humorous side. He's the funniest one of the 3 moderns, but I'm going with Tennant. He was just brilliant.

But the 4th was the best out of them all, and don't you deny it.

Eccleston was too grumpy. I liked Tennant but he was a bit drawn out (He had 3 bloody sidekicks, who went down steadily in quality, ending in the series-ruining Catherine Tait). I like Matt Smith at the moment because he has a similar quirkiness to Tennant, but he seems fresher with the new sidekick and everything. Plus bowties are cool.

Still, Captain Jack is my favourite character over all. But that may just be because I have a slight man crush on John Barrowman.
You're in luck, the guy's a sausage chomper.

the 11th.

Because he reminds me of Baker, who I grew up on.

Tennant is starting to grow on me, but it's a bit stunted. There is so much hype surrounding him and the few episodes I saw were good, but my mind wasn't blown, whereas the first episode with Smith, I was hooked.

Also the second time I saw Tennant was when he was all "RARG TIME LORD VICTORIOUS" and he came off as a jerk, so that also slowed down my liking of him.
