the dead one. wait none of the ponies are dead? hm, guess that must have been just a wonderful dream. no matter how many times its explained to me, i will never understand this pony craze
Do you really think that was a constructive post? We don't advocate the burning of things you love (unless the things you love are supposed to be on fire, in which case we do).
i have watched it...or at least i tried. i watched like 10 or 15 minutes of the first episode and then turned it off because i was bored. it wasnt horrible but i dont understand why the internet seems to be obsessed with this show. i mean even if i loved the show, it seems like it just exploded over night, or maybe i just wasnt paying attention
Normally I wouldn't respond to something like this because I don't like David Mitchell, but he seems to have made several rather glaring errors, as usual.
For example was he not aware when he made his rant that a lot of adults in the 1930s went to see Snow White and Seven Dwarves as made by Disney? Not as a family or with their children, they went as adults to see a movie. Granted it wasn't aimed at them with a special cover or anything but still, the point stands, yes adults in the 20s would have read Winnie the Pooh, and without the depressing cover, if their reading habits were anything like their movie going habits.
Equally, he is making the time honoured mistake about 'kid friendly' and 'fun for the whole family.' It seems like he's not, but he is. If he genuinely had watched Doctor Who, he'd know that it deals with issues that could easily be described as kid unfriendly, and very obviously adult.
I only started watching Doctor Who with the new season, granted, so at fifteen I wasn't an adult like he claims you have to be to enjoy 'real' entertainment (the stuck up elitist Tory prick), but even at the time I was well aware that there were things in there my then ten year old sister didn't get. The Father's Day episode in particular was not the sort of thing that she could quite grasp, and the episode Dalek where the entire Time War is in many ways likened to the ways in which over the years the oppressors have become the oppressed? I'm not too proud to admit that even at fifteen I needed my parents (45) to explain fully what that episode was trying to say.
So no, David Mitchell, no you do not understand 'children-only' and 'family friendly,' you are just an elitist toff who thinks everyone should listen to your opinion because you went to Cambridge.
And in relation to the OP: Twilight Sparkle ams the greatest. Followed closely by Fluttershy.
And we have a David Mitchell Troll. Stop trying to derail this thread! The internet is about freedom to like what you like, people like you shouldn't try and persecute us for being who we are.
I'm sorry, but he was at least partially on track with his post, you on the other hand were derailing the thread being you didn't come here to discuss your favorite pony, as the topic demands, but attempted to look down on everypony who likes the show.
*blink* ...Ok, just exactly how old are you? Because right now I'm convinced that a good 430-something of those users are either under the age of twelve, or have serious problems letting go of their young childhood.
Yea, might be a little hypocritical of me to judge a show I've never seen, but from what clips I've seen of it, it focuses on almost all female cast of unbearably cute ponies, of multiple bright rainbow colors with names like "sparkle" and "pinky pie". What kind of impression would you venture an person to logically draw about such a show?
I am an 18 year old male college student and I have watched all 26 episodes. How you react to the cuteness is your call, of course, but I for one find it very refreshing to take a break from the cynical brown seriousness of, well, everything else and enjoy something colorful and innocent. And then there are scenes like this:
(Also, Radoph's profile clearly gives a birthdate of October 1990.)

I'm a 20 year old, sophomore accounting major who plays mostly first person shooters; and I love MLP:FIM. My brother is 17 years old, planning on majoring in zee Ziences who mainly plays shooters; and he loves MLP.
1.) Your comment about an all female cast is so incredibly sexist that I don't even know where to begin; what is it about women that would make a show about them inherently boring? I would be insane to not watch "Drew Carey's Improv-a-Gazna" simply because it features more female comedians than "Whose Line is it Anyway?" did.
2.) Next, what's wrong with colorful? Do you refuse to play Team Fortress 2 because its color spectrum extends past brown and grey? "Team Fortress 2 looks like a Pixar movie; what kind of impression would you venture an person to logically draw about such a game?"
Is World of Warcraft too cartoony, too juvenile for your tastes?
Mario frankly beneath your level of manliness?
3.) Finally, what the hay is wrong with cute ponies?
Not that there's a problem with THIS type of Pony thread (Compared to the usual Pony Thread that comes up) It just happens almost as often as the "other" pony threads.
On an unrelated note, while looking for that picture I saw lots of random pictures including an icon of Stocking (From Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt)and various images such as a Pinkie Pie eating cereal like from that meme, a nope.avi Applejack and

Logically, you would draw the impression that it is a terrible show for five year old girls, designed to get them to buy awful merchandise of colorful ponies, that forces rainbows and sunshine down the viewer's throat at all times, and that has absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever...
...which is why it's so awesome that the show is actually good.

Well then you don't know the demographics for the Escapist then do you? I know of about twelve of those users who are under the age of 15.
So now cute is to be considered a bad thing then? That's news to me, but to answer your question, when presented with the now 480 members, you should draw the conclusion that they're doing something right and its "worthy" of your attention. Or you know, you can ignore it, or continue to post like you have been.
She does considerably better when you can vote for as many as you want:

She's in my top 3 now! Fluttershy, Pinkie, Rarity. She's got some work to do if she wants to compete with Part of One and The Best Night Ever, though.
