Yeah I'm Defiantly a turtle, but a snapping turtle so watch out.

Anyways for those who enjoy a good RTS how do you like to play? Do you hide in a corner or roll over the opposition as fast as possible.

If I left someones favorite out feel free to call me on it

Yeah, resources.
I try to grab as much and as early in the game as possible.
Afterwards I either turn to pumping out waves of units to steamroll or bunker a little.
But at the start, a steady economy is the most important to me.

I build up my defences. Turrets, bunkers, everything, you name it.

I always lose, though. Seriously, I'm really crap at RTS games.

I build up resources first, then make an army of tanks that spread across the whole map and just steam roll my opponets.

I suck at Defense thou.

Resources are my passion. Why I don't really like DoW 2.
I didn't Like DOW2 either but mostly because it was impossible to turtle, plus I prefer macro management to micro. Imperial guard FTW!

Also I had no Idea There were so many other turtles I'm not Alone yay

I'm a hopeless turtle in single player RTS games. It gets to the point of insanity in Supreme Commander. I love to play against three skilled bots. Creating endless rows of energy generators, alternated by power converters, shields and anti nuke installations. Surrounded by an incredible ring of fortified outposts, stocked with anti air sites, point guns and secondary artillery installations.

Once everything is in place, I create loads of backup commanders. Upgrade them to include an additional resource generators. Once my defenses are in place, the limit of a thousand units is usually almost reached, so I build experimental units. Normally, one takes ages to command, but I sprout them out like mushrooms with my insane economy. It takes about two seconds to create some of them. If the enemy hasn't amassed experimentals themselves and overrun my defenses, they stand no chance from that point on. Total Annihilation at its best!

I take a good hard look at wherever I can on the battlefield to get an idea of terrain (if there's fog of war or anything stopping me from seeing any of the terrain, then ignore that part). I then formulate a decent strategy with whatever army I have formed mainly around getting a good defense up first, then fending off any and all attacks until I have a sizeable base with some turrets or whatever to defend it. Next, I send strike teams around the battlefield to basically annihilate any and all troops in each different sector of the map, trying to extend my own control (cut off points of entry, basically) and build further turrets there. I basically build outwards and develop a huge base then crush the enemy under my (by this point) large foot. Unless playing as Eldar in DoW, then I build a small base and teleport it to a hidden part of the map, then build a huge attack force and hide in the Webway. Teleport to a point behind the enemy lines (works best on maps like Kasyr Lutien and Kaurav City) and go for a pincer move straight on the enemy's base. Large attack from behind straight after a distracting small attack in front to lure out their troops. Almost always works, but it ften requires strong allies to defend me during preperation and I keep having the misfortune to be teamed up with n00bs who like to charge in themselves, while the enemy work as a team. You get some right douches on DoW, especially Soulstorm... :(

I'm more of a TBS style player but I would say turtle, artillery are my best friends and my favorite command posts. And totally effing up the weather because my commander can just to mess up the enemy feels so good.

I like to turtle 'til I reach the latest tech of units then steamroll across the map. In games like DoW and CoH though you have to capture territory to gain resources so it's harder to use tactics like that, so I capture territory first then put heavy defence on the bottlenecks.

I think I'd be a turtle, but the only RTS I've played in the longest while was Halo Wars (demo). I'd like to try a few stratagies, though.

My strategy is to in early game keep out of conflicts and build defenses and my military. Also, research tech, if applicable. Then, with my opponents weakened by the fighting I sweep in and take them out (Although I often then leave my territory undefended as my forces advance).
That is my strategy in Civ4 and SoaSE anyway, doesn't really work in SupCom, which is why I don't like SupCom

Definately turtle, wait until I have researched the big game-breaking superweapon before I do anything.

Or - in old school Red Alert, build as many GIs as you can and march them towards the tesla coils...

I call my style fortress, where I slowly research everything while using as little troops as poss 2 defend, and then at the end launching a precise attack on my objective (unless its kill every1 then i steamroll)
