a) soccer, although it's actually football, because, you know, you actually use your feet.
b) messi is easily the best player the game's ever seen. If you're not a football fan but like sport in general, look up clips of this guy and he may well turn you..... to football (not gay)
c) i support arsenal, although nowadays i wish i didn't ;(

I love watching football but as far as a game I truly know the ins and outs of and love beyond any other sport is baseball. I grew up playing baseball, played some in college, and now that I'm out I'm going to get certified to teach just so I can coach in the high school ranks and try to work my way up.

Favorite Team: Chicago White Sox (2005 was the greatest year of my life). My brother and I always picked rivals of each others teams to be fans of. He was a Cubs fan, so I gravitated towards the White Sox. Honestly, I'd say the Cubs are my second favorite team just because my brother and I are so close and I want him to experience what I got to in 2005.

I have pictures of me from the early 90's (I was born in 88) wearing miniature White Sox jerseys. Frank Thomas is my favorite player from that team, but I honestly believe the best player ever is Pete Rose. I wore 14 on every baseball uniform I've ever had because of Pete Rose. My dad was a big Rose fan, and we've studied his career from top to bottom and I wholeheartedly believe he should be in the Hall of Fame. But that's another discussion altogether.

Baseball is one of those games that I truly believe is passed down from one generation to the next. Steroids have taken a lot of the luster away from baseball in some fans' eyes, but to me there's nothing better than watching baseball on TV with my dad discussing every detail about the game.

My mine is not on the list. Its hurling. The fastest field sport in the world. Watch the video below if you have never seen it. The skill is unreal. You have to be tough and fast.

Makes soccer look like its being played by a bunch of girls. Rugby nearly as tough but they dont go on to the pitch with 3-4 ft long sticks swinging at head high. Oh and I forgot to mention that protection is not regulation except for a helmet.

Bring it.

American football, not that sissy soccer crap. That was a joke, so don't quote me 900 times.

My favorite team is the Detroit Lions, and I live in Minnesota. I used to be a Vikings fan, but I got sick of watching my former favorite losing non-stop.

My favorite player is Calvin Johnson. It's nigh impossible to cover him without 3 people, and he catches everything thrown his way.

Football, although I'm also a big fan of basketball and have been getting into baseball for a couple years now.

The fact that most votes are in the "I don't care for sports" section is very depressing. I choose Hockey, simply because I'm Canadian and I play goalie in ice and road hockey. You people who don't play/care for sports, you have no idea what you're missing out on. Get out there and try something (except golf because you will only get very angry at yourself)!

Guess it only helps enforce the stereotype that all nerds and geeks wouldn't touch sports or physical exercise with a 10ft pole.

I love baseball and my favorite team is the Houston Astros. The best player in the history of this great sport is Ted Williams with his amazing swing. Although, my favorite player was Ken Griffey Jr.

I mean come on! He hit back to back homeruns with HIS FATHER!! How cool is that!
See you in the AL west in 2013, Finally we get a team that we will be able to beat on a regular basis. I do have a lot of respect for Astros fans though, they have to put up with as much shit as us Mariners fans do (perhaps more considering you share a state with the Rangers).
Ya but I do like the fact that every division will have the same amount of teams. It has bothered me for years.

Funny how they (Europeans) coined the term soccer, yet cringe from it now.

lol
Actually, it was the British, not the whole of Europe. It was only used for a fairly short period and only by some of the British from the higher clases.

Also, I voted soccer. Played it in my youth, but practically only watch it now.

I don't do sports. When I do, its swimming. Swimming's awesome, keeps you fit enough, and is a great life skill to have.

Baseball is boring to play, even more boring to watch.
American Football is really dull and I can only watch Canadian Football (CFL) when it is super important games.
Soccer is fun to play, but omg so god damned boring to watch...
Basketball is neither fun to play nor fun to watch.
Tennis is one of those rare things that I completely understand and love to play. I blame years of Mario Tennis.
Cricket just baffles me, I have no idea what the fuck is going on.
Hockey is both fun to play and very fun to watch. I enjoy watching almost any game of hockey and try to watch every game my Bruins play this season.

Y no curling? Curling is very hard to play, but very entertaining to watch.

Edit: Seems I forgot to include who I think is the best player ever of my sport of choice.
Very well, I'll go with Bobby Orr. Not just because he was an incredibly good player among other incredibly good players, not just because he played for a very fucking long time, and certainly not because some of his plays are "how the fuck did you even do that?!".
Its because he did every one of those things, and is still around supporting Hockey.

American Football/Football/Basketball is boring or no fun to watch, but curling is entertaining? If I ever make a dictionary, I know what I'll be putting under irony.

Anyway, don't you think the boring or fun factor goes hand in hand with how much you know about the sport in question? You know a lot about tennis and like to watch it. Same goes for me with football. That's probably also the reason I can't watch American Football on TV, I just don't know enough about the rules and tactics involved. I'm not saying it's some sort of causality, but it certainly plays a big part.

I'd say soccer...
Except there's no such sport.

It's called Football. Harumph.
Aww, come on, cut me some slack, its the time of the day that many American are up including myself (although I'm always up it seems), and we call it soccer. To be honest, I would prefer we call American football Gridiron but there's not a ton of support for that.
[HEADING=2]I will never ever cut anyone slack for calling football "soccer"!![/HEADING]

[HEADING=3]Raaaaaargh![/HEADING]
[sub]Huh. For some reason, I didn't get a message when you quoted me. Strange.[/sub]
Thats because I fucked up the quote by accidentally deleting the last ] and had to go back and edit it, if you have to fix it through the edit function, it doesn't send the message.

Like I said, I totally get your objection, but I was just going with what I call it. Also, for all you who call it handegg, I find it somewhat insulting, as it is meant more to mock the sport, that to give it an appropriate name.
I thought I was making it clear that my reaction was supposed to be a joke with the ridiculous font size and stock image...

It's just a pet peevee; not something that holds any significance.
Indeed it was clearly a joke, I simply put it in there to explain why I used the terms I did. That portion of the post wasn't directed at you specifically, I simply wanted to "head people off at the pass" because I knew there would be people saying stuff like that, and I just wanted to get it out of the way.
