ALTTP have to be my favorite along with Ocarina and Mayora's

Twilight is great also, but the easy boss fights turn me off a lil :p

Link's Awakening! I will never understand it's lack of popularity, my fave Zelda ever.
Agreed.

Low Content Shield:This right here... best reason to play Link's Awakening (my favorite was the DX verion on GBC).
Well, that and the entire rest of the soundtrack...

I like that one zelda game that has monsters and puzzles and you play as a character named link and have to go through dungeons and save the princess from the evil Ganon/Ganondorf
Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm glad the series hasn't gone through some kind of overhaul. It's not like each game is the same, and even if some are they're all solid adventures and really fun to play. Nothing wrong with that.

Majora's Mask. The story, the characters, the feeling of impending doom... and learning everyone's damn schedules by heart. I loved every moment of it! Twilight Princess was a nice refresher, I felt that it tried to bring back OoT's charm while being a little more serious.
As for WindWaker... I loved it while playing, but blame my current loathing for it on my memory card crashing three days after I'd uncovered the whole bloody map.

I had such a tough time choosing one for the poll, they're each amazing in their own right.

My choice is probably Twilight Princess though, I remember it being the one I enjoyed the most.

GAH Im torn between them... if i have too i will narrow them down to three

1. Links Awakening
2. Wind Waker
3. Majoras Mask

All three take major steps in renewing the formula expanding on the story adding new game play elements and just having a cool premises with colorful characters. But i just dont know which one to choose...

1) Ocarina of time - My first Zelda, and one of the most breathtaking experiences in gaming i have ever experienced. Most people call it the best game ever made, and their's a good reason behind that.

2) Twilight Princess - The mature Zelda everyone was hoping for so many years, and guess what... it delivered with its brilliant visuals, clever ideas, and unforgettable characters. Even though that this is really the only game in the series that has really match up to ocarina's greatness, some minor annoyances such as it being too easy stop it from beating it.

3) Link to the Past - The classic snes adventure that managed to shock and amaze me in more ways than one. Flawless presentation, and some of the best music in the series makes it my third choice.

4) Wind Waker - A epic cartoon adventure on the high seas that was incredibly imaginative, and very thought provoking. This game was very good though their were a few problems with it such as the long tedious sailing, and that the game started to wear thin towards the end of it.

5) Legend of zelda - The original game which feels a bit dated, and a bit too simplistic now, but it is worth playing even just to see how far the series has come in its twenty five years.

6) Manjora's mask - The sequel to Ocarina of time that while had to good premise and storyline, it lacked in a lot of areas especially the dungeons. All in all it's a playable zelda that can be rather fun, but compared to the rest of the games in the series, it was disappointing.

7) Links awakening - A very ambitious, but very flawed handheld entry in the series. This game left me on countless of occasions the feeling of "where the hell do i go next".

8) Adventure of link - The black sheep of the Zelda franchise, or should that be the piss stain of the zelda franchise. A absolutely awful game that should be avoided.

I haven't play oracle of ages, spirit tracks, or phantom hourglass (and im glad i haven't because i hear its terrible).

Well not being a super fan Ive only played Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time (in that order) and I thought that TP was a lot of fun, and much better than OoT. But before I get torn apart by die hard Zelda fans, please note that I thought that they were both good, but I just enjoyed TP better, probably because I played it first and have no nostalgia for OoT.

Ah, I need to go back an play them to remember, but I had thought the Seasons villain did do some things throughout the game. Maybe it is different on which is played through first, because if I remember from what I did in the past, I played through both twice, once where I played Ages first and then Season and once with Seasons first and then Ages.

Thought what the villains do many have depended on the type of villains they are. The Ages villain was dark magic witch of sorts, and the Seasons villain was some armored brute of a character.

But I liked it best as a set because it all came down to the the classic Zelda formula:

Ganon was behind the scenes pulling the strings of the other villains
Eh, maybe I need to play them again too. I just cant remember the seasons villain doing anything.

Close call between Zelda 1 (which created the Zelda formula) and LTTP (which pretty much perfected it). I, however, have to go with Zelda 2 simply because amongst the glut of Zelda games that at this point in time all feel the same, Zelda 2 still stands as being noteworthy and very playable.

There's really no reason to play most of the Zelda games today simply because they are essentially all the same. Zelda 2, however, feels as fresh today as it did back when it was released (if not more so because the 2D sidescrolling action/RPG hybrid was a lot more common in the NES days).
