The original Legend of Zelda. . . its non-linearity was more uncompromising than in its sequels, its simplicity was winning, and the puzzles had yet to graduate to the levels of obscurity seen in, say, Link's Awakening.

...god damn this is hard.

You know, I love them all. They each bring something new and awesome and just are so flippin fantastic! Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Majora... they are my favs, but each one is so cool.

Except for maybe the hand held ones. I have no love for them.

I feel like being totally unoriginal and saying Ocarina of Time. You all know why.

But I would like to thank the TC for listing Oracle of Season/Ages as choices. Seriously, no one ever talks about those games, and those are my second favorites of the series.

Wind Waker. That game was my childhood, along with Mario Sunshine.
Luigi's mansion and super mario sunshine. Two of the best and most under rated games nintendo ever made. my childhood as well, escapist... And windwaker is just fantastic.

Even though nobody else thinks so, I would go with Link's Awakening. I thought it was the perfect length and difficulty, and because the ending is just so damn sad.

For me it's a tie between Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past. They're the only ones I ever truly played more than once. I tried playing through Twilight Princess for a second time last autumn and for some reason I couldn't get into it at all. I can't explain why, but OoT and LttP feel fresh every time I start a new game.

Majora's Mask or Twilight Princess.

Both have had quite an impact on my life.

Majora's Mask, definitely. The soundtrack was wonderful (including my favorite Zelda boss music), the premise and primary mechanic entertaining and often genuinely creepy, the subquests involving and fun, and the dungeons challenging.

Following that is probably a tie between Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, the former for its art style and seriously fun exploration element, the latter for its story and fun-as-all-get-out dungeons (including some great bosses and weapons...Spider-Link, Spider-Link...).

And Ocarina of Time deserves a mention, naturally. Even though it's third in my own list, I still love the game to death. I still get chills whenever I hear <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-xKPWePgRw>the final fight theme.

All in all, a series as old as me...and I love it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, The Legend of Zelda for the NES is not only the best Zelda game but the best game ever.

I'm not saying the series is terrible I'm just saying its repetitive... It's still one of those games that I'll play ever once and a while

The original NES version. My brother recently downloaded it to his Wii and I made into lvl 9 w/ only 3 deaths remembering where almost every lvl entrance was and the maps of the worlds themselves. It is, has always been, and probably always will be my favorite game ever. (I didn't beat it that night because his wife got sick of me playing and made me quit so we could drink more)

Zelda CDI is by far the best. Can't go wrong with CDI games! Haha, nah. I'd say Wind Waker, I guess.

Ocarina of Time is easily my favorite. There is literally no contest. The original was good, the 2nd was pretty fun... Majora's mask? aaaaa, no. Twilight princess? I don't like the Wii so I wouldn't be a good critic. Windwaker? Really? Come on. I just can't get over the fact that Link has been around for 25 years and he still hasn't "manned" up. As in "Hey Link, man up ya pussy."

Ocarina of Time was a revolution in gaming. I don't think it's too bold a claim to say that there has been nothing like it since.
