Oh yea and for a pure skill based game where no button mashing noob can win you can't do much better than Virtua Fighter..........but your list doesn't have that for some stupid reason.
You also forgot Guilty Gear and Blazblue. Man your list sucks. It's like making a best FPS ever list and making it COD4, Halo 3, and Pokemon Battle Frontier.

I'm torn right down the middle. I grew up playing Tekken, with Tekken 2 being one of the first games I ever played. Although I fell in love with the Street Fighter series when I played Street Fighter II, and 3. I'm voting Street Fighter because at the moment I'm playing Street Fighter IV. Come this weekend I will most likely change that opinion back to Tekken when Tekken 6 comes out.
Really Smash Bros because I play more with people on it and have a lot more fun. But I also enjoy Tekken as a second favourite because I am actually GOOD at it.
LOVE Tekken, can't wait for the next one. While waiting for that though, I've grown quite fond of Soul Calibur IV. It's been the only fighter on the 360 that I actually liked, and now I've tried some of the older games as well. Overall, the series is pretty good fun.
The Marvel vs. Capcom series has yet to put out a less than stellar game. I pray to all that is holy they make a 3rd installment in the series some time soon.

The balance on the original Soul Calibur is one of the best I've seen, considering how much variety there is between the characters. It's not just mere low/high punch and high/low kicks with few different fire balls every here and there.
I tried SSB once and couldn't make heads or tails of it. So many good choices in the poll, but it says favorite, and so I've got to go with Soul Caliber. Yeah, the last two were awful if not gorgeous, but I simply adore the variety of exotic themes and styles each character brings, from the caveman, to the mummy, heck, it's got pirates and ninjas too!
If the question would have been greatest, my answer would have been a very different one, since I'm pretty sure there's no doubting the series that really popularized the genre to ridiculous success. If not for SF2, the landscape of fighters would not be what it is now.

Biofreaks was an amazing fighting game for the N64, where you can cut off your opponents arms, fly around on a jetpack, etc.
Today's equivalent of that game would be Dissidia, except Dissidia doesn't have much violence.

Although i was tempted to vote for MK, soul calibur just took me by the balls and rammed me against a spiked wall of awesomeness. It's that good.
