The problem with horror, I've found, is that they usually don't succeed in creating a scary or spooky, hell even a jumpy, atmoshpere but when they do they are brilliant. Usually when they're psychological

But I chose RTS cos they're usually more fun and easier to play with other people and don't have to be exceptionally brilliant like horrors, to still be fun to play
yes!
its mostly about fun, but i do love a good horror that scares the $#@#!@#$# outa me, sadly that hasent happend in a long time.
i jumped a little in Metroid Prime 3 but only on the flagship that had been attacked by Space Pirate's and thats only because after opining a door and seeing a body desentagrate suddenly suprised me, it was still freaky though.
Last one to make me jump was in Dead Space my first Necromorph jumped out at me. Then again, 5 minutes later, when it revived >.<
man i wanna play that game, i remember in bioshock, i was at the part where you haft to take pictures for that psyco artist. i had wandered in to a basement in the corner was a statue and on the other side of the room was a chair, i went to the chair and when i saw there was nothing i turned a round th statue was in a freaky pose right behind me, i jumped of the bed i was sitting on, luckly i had the shot gun equiped cuz my fingers went though the trigger buttons. plus i was playing it at a friends house at night and he was asleep, needless to say i tryed to finish that part of the game very quickly and quitely.

Lol. I remember that part it was great, another time I almost managed to scream at a game. Almost..

But I wouldn't recommend Dead Space. It was alright but by the second half it got kidna boring and dragged out. And kinda annoying with the loads of aliens running at you every 5 seconds and making you run all over the ship to increase the length :(

I was kinda wishing it to end by like the 9th chapter.

I'm the only person who's voted horror so far, which is rather depressing.
I would have voted horror too, but it's only become a recent fascination of mine, while shooters remain my true love.

i had heard that from my friends, too bad from the trailers and game-play vids i saw, to me it had a lot of potential.
though i get scared easer by games than in real life, but is just that i get desenseatized easily, so for a game to keep me scared it needs to keep it fresh. painkiller did a good job at that, just watching someone else play had me jumpy.

Where's "3D platformer"? Well, I suppose you couldn't get so specific with the poll, since there's only eight possible options, but I thought you would at least put "platformer" in general as an option. Well, I voted adventure, because it's the closest thing.

Adventures are my favorite. Games like God of War really made me love the genre. Shooter is great too.

Yeah I'm pretty much the same way. Only psychological horrors make me scaredthough unless its a game. And Painkillers always been something I've wanted to try

I would of said Shooters but i think RPG is the most fun and is less repetative than the others.

You're missing Platformer(Super Mario Bros.), Puzzle(Tetris), Educational(Jumpstart Series), Fighting(Mortal Kombat)(unless that's hack and slash/beat em up),Point-and-click(Sam and Max), and Party(Mario Party). But I'll go with RPG.

RTS games are my favorite. I love to manipulate my foes through overpowering strategy and then laugh like Lelouch Lamperouge at the decisive moment where I finish my opponent off.

Plus, the only game where I have over 500 hours spent in it is Company of Heroes, the best game I have ever played. Sure, Relic has slighty screwed up the traditional balance and has made it more bob friendly now, but I still havy many fun Co-op missions with friends using the Joint-Ops mod.

I love me a good ol' RPG. I do like Adventures and RTS's too, and I have been trying to expand my horizons to include shooters.

Between my favourite,(RTS, FPS and adventure) I'd choose RTS, probibally because I delight in making massive armies of very small, weak units and sending them out to die. So in reality, I'd pick God games cus I'm a semi-self-centered control freak. But I'd still pick Command and Conquer 3 over Sims 3.
