And FYI, DoW is epic.
DoW has a limit cap on your troop numbers and as such is severely limited in its epicness. also that makes it awful because it means that the races sre unbalanced.

And Im a Warhammer:40K player and its a very poor portrayal of the universe.
That stops people from zerging and makes players think more about their strategy instead of just grabbing loads of powerful units and flooding the enemy with them.

I will agree it doesnt portray the 40k universe that well, but its still very good.
But the Necrons can bypass the Limit cap and zerg(as you say) people anyway: UNBALANCED.
Well done for repeating yourself. I cant actually be bothered to argue about this, from previous posts you can see that many enjoy DoW even with its flaws (i will admit Soulstorm failed).

Its your opinion and what you like at the end of the day.

The poll is badly done since it doesn't include some of the greatest games ever. If the point of the poll is asking about the favourite SERIES, then what's Total Anihilation doing there? It never had a sequel (no, Supreme Commander isn't a direct sequel, it's a spiritual successor).
Total Annihilation: Kingdoms
More of a spinoff than a sequel ;)

But alright, you named an obscure crappy RTS I forgot about, you get points for that :)

Furthermore, Dawn of War should have been there since the game has had three expansion packs, with two of them being stand-alone and bringing almost as much content as the original game (basically, almost sequels) and an actual sequel is to be released this week with the beta being open for all for a month now.

Starcraft should have been in there too. It's had only one expansion pack and I don't like it too much, but any talk about RTS games should include it.

Basically, bad poll.

And I don't see the point in asking about the best SERIES in the first place...
1) StarCraft isn't a series.
2) Total Annihilation is a series.
3) Dawn of War is an oversight, like I've said before.
4) There'd be no way of running a poll that could include all the RTS that people might like (WarCraft: O&H, WarCraft II, StarCraft, Dune II, Shogun: Total War, Close Combat, etc).

I have to give Homeworld some credit for that too. I know that mods don't really have anything to do with the game, but Homeworld's are so fun they deserve mention.
Never tried modding homeworld, any recomendations?
For the first one, I'd suggest the Babylon 5 one which is a personal favourite. There's also classic Star Trek and Star Wars mods. Certain Trek ones are well done but I prefer the Star Wars mod for the second game, which gives you Imperial, Republic, Separatist and Rebel civs, not to mention they worked on a Vong one was well (unfortunately never completed I think).

For the second, there's also a great Battlestar Galactica(the new one) mod...not to mention the upcoming (or already released- can't remember) Stargate mod (note: most of it is in French though, I heard they may be working on an English version). My personal favourite is the Pirates Mod, which gives you the Pirate Battleship, which is a broadside-firing weapons platform with a good 4 dozen cannons on it. I tried to find a picture but couldn't, curse this dialup.
Holy crap, entire new forces?! Well thats more than a reason to go dig out those old CDs. Also ouch, dialup, you poor thing *hugs*

Complex Mod. Just turns Homeworld 2 into the best RTS ever created IMO. Check moddb.com they have like a hundred mods for both games. Including everything mentioned above I think.
