I hate them. I don't know why. It's not the pain (there usually isn't even any)
it's almost as if irrational fear is irrational

Unfotunately no, I just can't stay away from them.

EDIT: Just to put things into perspective for people who wimp out on th tiny 1ml needles:

My veins are now so bad that my doctors either have to let me take my own blood samples or take blood from the main vein in my groin with a 10ml syringe, (the needle is 25mm long and about 0.6mm wide)

God, I hate needles. hey hurt, they stick 'em in for too long and whatever they're trying to get out of me, it hurts like a sunovabitch.

I also hate doctors. A bunch of perverts that want me to take off my pants.

I don't like them personally. I lived with a buddy of mine who did heroin, and I had toi inject it for him, because he was too afraid/messed up to do it himself. Anytime I did it, it went right up the nose.

My wife is a nurse, and I guess she's good at hitting the vein on the first try, but she tells me some horror stories about nurses missing four times. I feel bad for that guy.

I've ran away from school once to skip the needles. However, even since my accident with a band-saw, I've been more terrified of things that cuts.

Besides, when I was in bed at the hospital, I've received too much needles to count. After that, needles were nothing.

I'm only scared of blood tests. but I do have a fear of hospitals, doctors and the ill, so I don't really ever get jabs anyway.

I'm OK with needles, for tattoos etc, not when the nurse is waving about a huge needle telling you what will happen if it goes in the wrong bit of your skin... still have those nightmares ...

my tactic is to talk to the nurse as if it were a regular day. (...)
That's actually pretty much the same as I do. And if I didn't the nurses would. At my school however. That's what I love about school nurses and such. They know how to handle children. The school nurse would just clean the spot while talking to you. And a little after you would ask "Are you going to take the shot soon?" and they'll tell you they've allready did it. You know. In the end, if your attention is somewhere completely elsewhere, you'll feel nothing at all. And the good nurses practice this if there's someone with a fear of needles

I know lots of people who have fainted and passed out during needles, or just plain hate it
And its usually the bigger stronger people too, which I find hilarious
Yeah, I know right? It was like that in the high school I went to. You know, the biggest bully in tha class would be the biggest wuss when it came to the needles. He would allways freak out, and refuse to take it. Wich is kinda problematic since he's like a big guy, you know. That's what I thought about cpt_Oblivious as well. You know, since he's a big guy with a "I'm goint to kill you" look. I immedietly thought he was going to say that he feared the, like the plague =P
I guess I was wrong. Obviously big people can be perfectly fine with needles as well ;)

My sister, however, faints when she sees blood or when someone has to take her blood for analysis.
I really don't get that. I mean, how can you faint by looking at blood? It's just blood. It's a bit off topic, I know. But it has allways amazed me when people are afreadi of blood. Especially to the extent where they faint. Me on the other hand has allways loved seeing blood. It just .. It's great =P

Edit: Oh .. I forgot to add my own two cents.
I've never really had anything against needles. What so ever. Never have I understood what people have against them either. I mean if we're talking about a huge motherhumper, then I definetely understand. That would scare the shit out of me. But regular needles? Nothing to be afraid of. They're small, and are (usually) only insterted in a short amount of time. And when they're talking a very small sample of blood, they're just pinching a small hole in your skin with a device. I've never understood the fear of needles ..

you, complete me...

nah just kidding.

but, on a related note, last year we got to dissect cows hearts right? all the girls left the class (obvious) when we were shown how to do it the bully in the class (well one of 'em) fainted right in front of me, it is so satisfying to see those jerks collapse like that.
I ... I didn't get it.

But yeah. Especially if they've been bullying you. Then it's really great to see them faint over so little as a simple needle - wich you are able to recieve without any problems :D

I am, I don't know why but they make me... uneasy... I was completely fine with them until earlier last year when I had to get blood drawn and was incredibly anxious and jumpy. I still have no idea what caused this sudden minor phobia of them, it just happened.

I REALLY LOVE NEEDLES!

Srsly, I used to be so excited everytime we had injections in school! And I love having blood taken too, it feels so awesome!

I think if I was a heroin addict, it'd be addiction to actually physically putting the needle in as well as the heroin XD
Guessing you are a girl...*checks*...yes you are.
Don't know why I was so sure, its a bit weird.

I realise you were probably not entirely serious, but you weren't far off the mark - the process is as much a part of the addiction as the substance itself, it's like a ritual. Kinda like how people giving up smoking feel the need to do something with their hands to replace the feeling of holding the cigarette, I've known recovering heroin addicts shoot up water, just for the ritual.

Now I've rambled all that, someone will have said exactly the same on the two pages of the topic I couldn't be arsed to read.

Um... yeah, I'm not keen on needles. I don't have much of a problem if it's a simple injection, but dental injections are approximately the most painful thing I've ever had done. Also, I fainted last time I had blood taken, though I'm putting that down to a combination of heat and lack of food/drink.
