Depends what my objective is.

If I'm drinking for pleasure, then either Guinness, or Clerics Cure, a beer made in one of the better local pubs, which has a very, very old brewery attached to it:

If I'm drinking to get drunk, then either Stella Artois or Jack Daniels and Coke. I would have Vodka as it's cheaper, but it does nasty things to me.

I love beer, of all kinds and all levels of quality. I prefer IPAs though, and drink microbrews whenever they're available.

Occasionally I'll take hard liquor straight for a few shots, but I'm not hardcore enough to do it consistently. I usually mix rum or vodka with some flavor of soda or fruit juice.

Though I am quite partial to a good Jack and Coke.
A poster after my own heart; you cant really go wrong with a jack and coke.

Real Ale. The drink of the moment is Adnam's Broadside, but my local changes its ales every month, so next week it'll be something different.

That is porn right there.

Look how sensuous, look how deliciously dark, look how creamy it is.

Guiness is a bit /too/ smooth for my taste. If I wanted to drink something that tasted like that, I'd have a glass of milk.

Now /this/ is a beer:

OT: I prefer a good beer, but lately I've been drinking more rum than anything else, because it's cheaper per drink and one bottle lasts a long time. I also like a nice whiskey every now and then.

I love a bit of Guinness myself sometimes. Though I'm more of a Whiskey person. Not that I actually drink a lot, but when I do.

I could really go for some gin right now.

Or vodka.

Or rum.

Those are pretty much my favorites, right there.

I'm not much of a drinker, but I do like a beer (German, Dutch or Belgian; I don't drink that other swill) once in a while. And I often have the gin and rum standing by for some Cuba Libre's and G&T's.

Beer, cider and whiskey (scotch preferably, single malt or blended doesn't make too much of a difference). Beers, I'll drink about anything but prefer a pale or golden ale. Same with cider, though my favourite brand at the moment is Dirty Granny (and not just because the name is clever).

Spiced rum. If you can find a good black spiced, it's even better.

I like to mix it with root beer (both liquids depend on a mix of complex flavors to get things right, and it works incredibly well), but most anything works.

Word to the wise, though - don't try the old holiday tradition of mixing it with Egg Nog. I love rum and Egg Nog, but the combination was just terrible.

I think you're supposed to use golden rum with eggnog. I can imagine spiced rum being weird with it XD

I drink iced tea. >.> ...What? Can't a guy enjoy a nice cool non-alcoholic beverage?

Sigh...fine. My drink of choice is brandy, so that puts me square in the "spirits" category. As I live in 'Murka, where the beer is like sex in a boat, I find beer rather disgusting. I've never tried whiskey, so I can't really give my opinion there. Wine is...not to my tastes. Vodka is just...bad. I've never tried alcoholic cider before. Liqueurs are alright.

Well, I used Captain Morgan Original - nothing too fancy. You could well be right, but my biggest problem was that I could taste the booze very, very well. I might give that a shot this Christmas, though.

Tasting the booze strongly with eggnog is a problem no matter what you mix it with, frankly. It has a tendency to separate whatever you mix it with into layers, and you have to make sure to stir really well.

Just to make sure we're on the same page, though, when I said golden rum, I was referring to the variety, not to "gold label" or whatever. There's three basic types of rum: gold, white, and spiced. Spiced rum is exactly what it sounds like, gold rum is rum that has been aged in a barrel for a while, and white rum is rum that skipped the barrel aging. You can get absolute rotgut that still counts as gold rum, although rum in general is harder to screw up than, say, whiskey.

Edit: in case it wasn't clear, neither gold nor white rum are spiced. They're just liquor made out of sugar cane and then either aged in a barrel or bottled straight off. Rum doesn't improve on its own if you let it sit; the changes from aging are purely due to stuff picked up from the wooden barrels.

If the weather keeps up, I will be maintaining a diet of cold, crisp lager. If it cools down or starts raining, probably the same. Maybe mix it up with a decent red wine or ale crawl.

Whiskey all the way. Drank half a liter of the stuff last night alongside 6 or 10 jagerbombs. Whiskey is best alcohol.
