Say what you will about the olden days, one thing is for sure: The people back then were awesome. These days I run into asshats every time I leave the FG and groups, while back then it was really, really rare.

There are just more people here now, that's all. The awesome people are still around.

It's amusing to see how many "Oldscapists" still lurk with great regularity and came out of hiding for this thread. Personally now that my work isn't blocking the Escapist anymore I've been posting with some regularity once again... though mostly about giant robots... so many threads...

Man, I guess I have been on this site for a while.

Remember when the mods banned like 4 guys in a row in a thread because they said they ran adblocker on the Escapist, and everyone flipped out until they unbanned them? I think SikOseph [sic] did get banned on it though (different reason).

Remember when they introduced Escapist pubclub and people started freaking out?

Remember when marijuana threads were popular? Or "should women be allowed into the military?"

There are more but I can't really remember any other big events off the top of my head (that didn't involve forum celebs directly).

This is about how long you've been here, not how old you are.

So what are the specifics of being an Oldscapist?

Generally having joined 2010 or earlier.
But it's not exact.
There are people who joined in 2011 who carry the OldScapist spirit.
It's one of those nebulous ill-defined things like patriotism; some people will say it's what you feel, others will say it's how you act, others still will provide their own wacky definitions.

But man, seeing Fanboy again. I remember asking him to animate the flames on my old Typhlosion avatar and add an Escapist E back in the day. I remember when they first animated Neon Bob's signature avatar... I think that's when I got sucked into the forum games. They were barely alive back then. Now I remember Baby Eater, Chinchilla, Sassafrass, Ren, and Vaudevillian Veteran. They were great.
