Never talked much, but glad to see her around again.
You too as well! I remember having interesting conversations about your name, and pengu armies, and...and! :)
Yeah... never talked much, did we. <_<

When you left, everyone was incredibly sad. Don't get me wrong, I was pretty bummed out, too. But I didn't seem have the same emotional pull as everyone else did. Felt like we should've chatted more. Felt like I was missing out on something there. :/
I can't really say. I don't feel like I'm anything special. Just a woman who smiles a lot!

I'm smiling on the fact that I'll get to know you better this time around too, if you let me. :)
Well, nothing was stopping you before. I just don't say much, so it ain't really your fault. :p
Tell me more this time? <3

I could have been swamped with PM's though. I would get around 45-70 a day way back. I apologize if it was that.
Hm? Oh, no. I never PM random people I've never really talked to beforehand. Seems rude and intruding to me. At least when I do it. When someone else does it, it's a pleasant surprise. :p

If they're my friend, or if I need to ask them something, then I'll do it, but don't expect me to-

-Wait, 45-70 PMs a day?! Christ on a stick! D:

I had forgotten all these names! BonsaiK, NeutralDrow, VaudevillianVeteran... so many lovely people who could write so well!

I would miss them more, but I've just spent half an hour catching up on this thread, and I think my face is about to split with smiles seeing my old favourite Escapists chip in, if only to say hi.

Also, the amount of love extended to long-time lurkers is amazing. Why can't we be so nice in all the other threads? It's one of the very few times I've been on here and not felt vaguely ashamed of my measly 1500k post count.

Thanks for posting this, Souplex! I was feeling a little jaded from these forums, and this thread has been really refreshing :)

Dammit, Souplex, now I'm having flashbacks. The collapse of the Zynga/Valve thread and the subsequent quadrupling of #escapist's population, causing many to flee to Skype; the time the Men of North and South drank of the firewater and proceeded to lay waste to the twin kingdoms of Spelling and Grammar; the weirdest morning of my life, and the breakage of many brains as I reported the loss of my apartment door to a pair of lovely Australian workmen.

I guess lurking since 2010 doesn't count then...
Apparently not. The date under your avatar is the only date that matters.

[sub][sub]Looking through this thread, I now feel so ashamed of my 2011 join date ...[/sub][/sub]
Look at it this way - at least your posting isn't interrupted by the Meals on Wheels lady coming in with your pills and easily-digestible food.
Mmm, apple sauce and statins...

It's depressing that I feel so much more comfortable in this thread, seeing all the old names like it was 2010 again.

All we need now is Max to come in and tell us that life is a joke and we all suck and it'l be like nothing changed.

And actually I think that's a bad thing. I like the forums now, let's keep 'em the same.

This thread made me happy. I miss the old days, of course we lost our resident neurotic cynic Max so things will never be quite as snarky as they once were. But alas, seeing a few old names is a nice thing.

I lurked, and hard. Problem is, the glory days are called "glory days" because that's when the glory happened. You never call the present "glory days".

You can't call for the old... ever. This must be your first "arena" if you haven't learned that lesson yet. I've been at the forefront of three "golden eras". Funny enough, it usually involved a "war" of some sort. So believe me when I say that trying to reclaim "the good ol' days" is like trying to light some ashes into a bonfire.

...and I see you've gathered a lot of ashes here...

Best to go get a new arena, gather new generals, or even be a general and not a king. This is the internet, you can live a hundred lives, millions of years apart. Go be something new.

Reading this swayed me. I left a while ago due to huge failure in my AS exams, but now I've recovered from that and found a rhythm of working that I can maintain, I suppose I can return. The break was needed, I enjoyed my time away, but I believe the time to return is now. I joined the Escapist in January 2009. It was a great place back then, the users of the site understood it was a Gaming Community, not somewhere to discuss world issues like diplomats and exchange philosophies regarding the "Friend-Zone". I remember a time where RPers were dedicated, the stories were brilliant and characters were well-developed.

A return to the glory days is needed.

I'm back, Escapist. Let's do this.

Congratulations, this is like a happy family reunion and you get to be the drunk uncle that came in his underwear and vomited all over the banquet.
[sub]I hope you are happy now.
[sub]The revolution thing is obviously silly but what matters is the fact that people are showing up to say hi.[/sub][/sub]

Hey, I didn't crawl through the mud... or... whatever you call wet clay... to get sassed by a 1st-timer-old-timer.

No wait, that's exactly why I crawled through the wet clay stuff... carry on.
[sub]Also, bring me some pretzels.[/sub]

Do I count as an Oldscapist? I've been here for a few years, but I've never really posted that much, and I doubt anyone actually remembers me from anything.

...I miss Max.

I've been here about 2 1/2 years so I'm just about an "old" Escapist, nothing compared to some of you guys though.

I think I have the least amount of actual comments since i've joined. I've still been lurking just like before I even officially joined the Escapist.

39,372 hours as an Escapist, and alright with that.

I've been here longer than most of the people in this thread, active more or less throughout that time, with varying levels of contribution, and yet I only broke 1000 posts a few days ago. I choose my words with utmost precision and barnacles. Tasty barnacles of freedom.

Although I don't really know anyone here, not really. Wouldn't know who to contact. A few names, faded beyond recognition linger in the back of my mind, but I don't know why they'd give a shit what I had to say, or why I should give a shit what they have to say. The Escapist forums had some golden years, and may yet have more epic adventures and escapades in store, without the old names and their venerable post counts. I say we just let happen what happens organically, so to speak. Which doesn't mean I'm against dousing any of you in pesticide.

Barnacles.

Ejit: I though Pimp and NeonBob has transcended their mortal coils. It seems not. I was deceived. You know, going through the thread; more of a nostalgia trip than I expected. Turns out I remember more of how the place used to be than I thought.
