At 14 I'd have tried to sleep with her, but that's why there's a law, 14 year olds are stupid/naive.

I don't care how attractive she is, she shouldn't have slept with him. If it'd been his girlfriend who was one year older than him and they were on either side of the legal age of consent, it'd be a different story.

You can't be allowing people to sleep with minors. Regardless of gender.

What if the kid is actually a homosexual, would this change your opinion of the case?

What if he were straight and it'd been a man?

What if it'd been a priest?

You can't just allow people to abuse children because you think the child wanted it. It's not a case by case basis of how hot they are.
well the majority of humanity is stupid and naive no matter how old they get, yet they're still allowed to have sex after they cross the age barrier.

as for your questions if the kid was gay that would be different because it would be actual rape not statutory rape.

same answer for the second one

and the major problem with the third one is that the priest would be a massive hypocrite with all their antigay speeches and if the boy was straight it would be actual rape and the priest would have also abused his power and not only would he have raped a kid but he would have betrayed an entire organization, community, and god that he believes in.

in austria you can have sex with anyone (willingly) if youre 14 so if he doesnt say shes a rapist it should be perfectly fine.

also that kid must be the ultimate womanizer EVER. The Girl is a bad weird i guess...

An adult had sex with a child. That means some sort of punishment should be levied. However, if she is charged with anything she'd have to register as a sex offender. Meaning she loses more than if she went to jail for a violent crime. Unfortunately, it seems she and the small child had a previously existing relationship which will hopefully mitigate the charge. If possible 'child endangerment' with no registry would be the best charge. It's a shame she couldn't come to an understanding with the little guys parents or simply ended it and moved on if this conversation hadn't occured. Legally speaking what she did is molestation. I'm intentionally referring to the kid as 'little' because he's not old enough to give consent. No matter how hot she may have been. These laws are meant to protect the young. I know she likely didn't mean any harm and he probably enjoyed it but why is no one asking why did she do it? What's the matter with her that an early teen is what she wants? Pedophilia is a real danger to children and yes- women can take advantage of boys. Counseling should probably be mandated as well. However, if the alcohol was used to sway a non-consenting child than I think the sex offense charge should be back on the table.

May as well embrace the double standard. Men make more money and hot women shouldn't go to jail. Deal?

While I have no problem with underage sexual encounters between individuals (as long as it is wholly consensual with absolutely no coercion), there has to be a certain age limit to which this should be allowed, eg. A 20 year old woman/guy with a 14 year old girl/boy or vice verse compared to a 40 year old Guy/Girl with a 14 year old Guy/Girl. Personally I do not feel that any harm would come with an age gap of 6 years (progressively narrowing the gap the younger the people get) but I draw a hard line made of bricks and mortar when it comes to someone drugging a person to cognitively compromise them making it easier to coerce them, or to coerce them in general.

So in the end I feel that unless she did the boy any physical harm or caused extensive cognitive trauma, she should receive a (high) fine and community service.
You took the key strokes right off my fingers, well said.

I've seen a lot of comments saying "He wanted it, doesn't matter if he's 14, it should be okay". There are two faults with this argument.

1. The human brain is not fully mature at age 14. Hell, it's not fully mature at age 18. Society has a lot of baggage about sex, and while changing that condition is a laudable long-range goal, in the meantime, it's in a kid's best interest to protect him/her from that baggage; a child of that age simply isn't able to fully comprehend all of the consequences of sex. (And don't give me "when I was that age I was smart enough to know"; even if it's true, that's much more the exception than the norm.)

2. There is no "maturity thermometer" that can be used on a child to determine intellectual and emotional maturity. (If there were, I'd love to see it used on some politicians.) Therefore, the law must set an "age of majority" to determine when an average person is considered mature enough to handle such things as sex, voting and entering contracts freely. It is simply impractical to expect the authorities to delve into every last aspect of the lives and mental states of those involved in every last situation such as this. There has to be a line drawn somewhere; every government is free to draw it where they choose, but don't be surprised if a different culture draws it somewhere other than where yours did.

Also a lot of double-standaridzation here, a lot of talk about how all 14-year-old boys want sex so it should be okay for them. Apparently 14-year-old girls are incapable of the same?

For most of us here (medal + no crime = the majority) it all comes down to the one thing that matters: is the kid at the receiving end? If not, then it's not so bad.

So yes we'd be all offended if instead a 20 year man fucks a 14 year old girl (or boy). We don't think this a double standard, we consider it a completely different scenario.

If she is 20 now, and the victim is 14 now, and it happened a year ago, she would be 19 right?
Yet a lot of people seem to think he would still be 14, not 13, why is that?

OT:
She should go to jail, she got a child drunk and molested him.
If it was as others have said a 20 year old male there would be screams to have him castrated.
If it was a 20 year old male having done this to a 13 year old male people would want him dead.
The thing is the law applies to all, man OR woman.
If you think it's wrong to send her to jail for this then get the law changed.
And don't complain if it's ever your 13 year old who ends up having sex with a 19 year old babysitter who provided them with alcohol.
Why didn't she say to the mother:
"Hey I think your son is hot! Mind if I get him drunk and have sex with him?"
If it was alright what she did, why did she not say that?
As another poster said, did she use protection?
What if she got pregnant?
Wouldn't that be a nice present, 18 years of financial commitment!
Think he was ready for that level of responsibility maturity?
Were you at 14/13?

This seriously.

A majority of straight guys can't deny when an attractive woman is offering free sex, it's in our nature. At that age we wasn't really thinking about 14 year old girls we're thinking about the sexy math teacher, a friend older sister. Basically at that age we sought out older women. When it comes to straight sexual encounters it's all in the woman's park to allow it or not, use guys are just their to complete the act.
So you're saying it's not the exact same for 14-year-old girls?
Haha, what, do you think millions of tween girls read Twilight for its excellent writing? They obsess over Justin Bieber for his fantastic music? Gimme a break.

Sex is an evolutionary drive that exists equally for both genders. It wouldn't work otherwise. Guys just express their sexuality more openly because society allows them to. When girls do it, it's considered "trashy". So they hide it. Only difference.

Well if the had an actual consenting relationship that changes a lot. She still gave alcohol to a minor though.

In my opinion she shoudl pay a fine for the alcohol and the relationship should be stopped.

Kid, if you happen to read this, just so you know, my hat goes off to you. Only six ppl. have managed to do this, but that dosnt change the fact. Also since you grew a pair, its time to stop needing a baby sitter, she can sneak in when your parents leave.

That's right people would be screaming for blood.

But seriously why is this even up for debate?

Providing alcohol to a minor
Sexual assault
Sexual assault of a minor
This basically, she, or any other woman, should be treated the same way a man would if this was reversed.

This is rape. There is no more to this story. A 20 year old raped a 14 year old, age of consent in Connecticut is 16. Rape=Jail, if she were a man it would be without trial. She needs jail, period.

So a girl who's an adult has sex with a guy who's a minor? And we all care why? Don't even tell me the reverse is a huge deal either. People bring that up and my response...that's every freaking day of the week in my home town. I was in junior high and all girls were dating guys old enough to drive. These poor dumb young girls were telling how awesome it was to be dating a 18 year old...why over whelming number of girls all got knocked up before they made it out of high school. They should arrest have of Cicero then since this so common place. People having unwanted babies at 20 or 14 is a bad deal regardless. Both have dismal earning potential in this rotten ecomony.

I am by no means saying let's have sex early and often, as I didn't have sex till i was 25. But historically people used take wives at 13 all time, and 20+ somethings were old maids well past breeding age. (red dead redemption makes a crack about this in the Newspaper about Ms Macfarlene.) Kids at 14 or 18 are still almost the same level of immaturity and foolishness. Some people are ready have sex at 12, and others are aren't ready till 30. Everyone's different.

Sex is not evil, and is a part of life. it can be wonderful and enjoyable thing if done responbly, or can wreck your life if you do it recklessly. If people really want to protect their children , then talk to them and educate them as you can do far more protect them than the law ever could. We can't make enough laws stop crimes, as laws only exist when there's to uphold them.(More laws doesn't magically make all sex offenders cease to exist.) The spirit of the law was to protect very young children from being taken advantage of who have no idea what sex is. Not to stop foolish teens and horny babysitters from consenting. If they never got caught..who did they harm? The same age gap is meaningless if you were to make him 18 and her 24, so why is suddenly such an awful thing then? It's just an arbtitraly number the law picked, and isn't any more morally right or wrong at either age in my mind if they're both on board..regardless of gender.

Yes techincally she broke the law...and they both did when came to the booze since neither was 21. Which beckons the question...Why is this even being considered a crime or we as society are bother wasting tax dollars on handling it when there's more violent crimes and dangerous criminals to be stopped. Slap them both on the wrist and go on with life.

I was thinking somewhere between Jail and Rehab, but i voted Rehab...but that's tough...
if jail, then a fairly short sentence...that or SERIOUS rehab/community service/fine. something like that.

hmm..but if the genders were reversed, it'd have much more attention...maybe jail is a better alternative, especially for the drugging or whatever first, that makes it pre-meditated, and she's frigging 20! an adult doesnt behave like that unless theyre stupid or something....she shouldnt get off lightly i guess.

im no judge, so im leaving it at that.

You know what? If this chick simply did what she did to USE a boy and his endowment, then she oughta suffer to the extent that she realises she thinks of guys as nothing short of tools and should feel guilty for the rest of her life over it! Don't give in to women's manipulations, especially if they're no better than guys! She could've tried her attentions on a guy her age, but her pride in controlling males overruled that. I'm basing a lot of this judgement on the actual charges against her, but there really shouldn't be a double standard and there needs to be no sexual discrimination, even in the eyes of the Law, which exists for things just like this.
