I am truly divided on a day to day bases, for the simple fact that their doesn't seem to be a natural set standard on human sexuality anywhere. In some parts of the world, a 14 year old human male having sex with what we Americans deem as an adult female is from a biological sense, acceptable and was actually considered a norm not too long ago even in American history. Boundaries such as these are being shaped and molded on almost a daily basis, this case truly represents the darker shade of gray, and my feelings that the woman should be punished solely on the human male's age are somewhat confused.

However, the Law is the LAW it's the reason why we are civilized, the boundaries we set as a majority are meant to be upheld, she broke the law plain and simple, whether she should go to jail for it, or whatever the punishment may be isn't for me to decide, it's for the Judge(s) involved with the case. Based upon the amount of pages of comments this particular post has gotten, i highly doubt i am adding anything new to this thread.

I'll be honest, this is a double standard and should remain one. Say what you will, that kid had the time of his life, as the late update says, he wasn't being forced to anything. This will also improve his social life for the coming few years. I'd be willing to bet a lot of money, that if you found those 14-15 boys a few years later, when they're of-age, that they still wouldn't hold anything against these women.

Girls have different reactions to this stuff, girls regret the guys they sleep with, guys regret the girls they don't sleep with, simple as that.

6 years is a little much if you ask me. And theres no real debate that i can see, thats sexual assault right there at the very very least. If she was 16 and he was 14 this would be a grey area, but as it stands 6 years is a hell of a long time at that age.

Since when does a 14 year old boy need a babysitter? My parents finally decided to let me stay at home when I was that age.

In consideration of all of the details, no she shouldn't go to jail. Both the 14 yr old boy and 20 yr old women were consenting to the act of sex together for months so it's not like she raped him. Also, I'm very aware of how minors love to get there hands on things they don't need such as alcohol but it happens so shame on her for exposing him to it but he probably drank and became drunk of his own free will. I remember being in middle school and kids trying to hide in the bathroom smoking cigarettes.

Now I am strongly against minors having sex but as it stands, sending the woman to jail is overkill. Make her do community service and pop her with a fine. The charge is going to follow her around for the rest of her life anyway, especially if she is charged as a sex offender. Besides, this kind of thing happens more often than you think.

A friend of mine had sex with a college student on an alter in a church when he was 14. I'm not saying multiple similar situations makes it all better, I'm just merely advocating that people should not freak out when it happens.

I noticed one poster compared this situation to the teacher-student sex scandals that were plastered over the news a few years ago. It's kind of funny to mention those because in the last and most famous of those cases, the teacher and student (high school) made it known that they both consented to having sex. After the teacher served her time in jail, they married each other, had kids and I believe they are still happily married to this day. Love is freaking weird.

Double standards exist for a reason, really. There's nothing wrong with this once all the details came out.

I think family therapist Terry Real is spot on

"I think the idea that all boys are ready to have sex at all times with their hot babysitters doesn't really take into account the sensitivity of a young boy."

For one we have no idea how sexually aware/mature the boy was. Yet people here are actually saying "well done kid, lets give him a medal" without even knowing if he wanted it or not. That just seems insensitive to me. Not to mention she gave him alcohol which obivously would have clouded his judgement.

As many others have pointed out there is an obvious double standard when it comes to cases like these. If it had been a Man raping a girl or a man raping the 14 year old boy then I think people here would be reacting very differently. That is a big problem as well and contributes to the idea that only men are sex offenders and that women can't be paedophiles as well which isn't the case, they can be.

The point is this, As a man If I were to go out and Rape a minor then I would expect to go to jail. The law is the law regarldess of Sex/gender, She broke the law and being a women doesn't excuse her or make what she did any better.

You can argue that the law is stupid but judges are not concerned with what people or themselves think the law should be, they are concerned with exactly what the law is in its current form. You break the law then you should be punished.

Him? With HER? Nah, he's definitely bullshitted his way into this one.

"Hahah, f*****, 14 and you have a babysitter"

(bullying, more bullying)

"Nah-ah, I'm fucking her. We get drunk and fuck all the time."

(lie reaches mother, spirals out of control)

And if it is true anyway?

Niiiiiiice.

She should go to jail, no doubt. No-one would be questioning this if it were a 20 year old man with a 14 year old girl. Having sex with a minor is illegal no matter the genders of those involved, and she should face punishment for it.

Look at it like this.

What if it was a 20 year old male babysitter who got a 14 year old girl drunk and slept with her?

That's right people would be screaming for blood.

But seriously why is this even up for debate?

Providing alcohol to a minor
Sexual assault
Sexual assault of a minor
I agree wholeheartedly with this statement, however...
The kid enjoyed it, it was consentual( the edit anyway...)
if the kid liked it, and he consented to it not uder influence, why not?

"It's very difficult for a 14-year-old boy to make decisions about sex and the decision shouldn't be imposed on him by someone who is significantly older..
I know when I was 14 it wasn't difficult. It was get that shit now.

But what the OP fails to mention is the fact that she has done this before with another kid.
On July 29, Bouchard was charged with another count of second degree sexual assault for allegedly assaulting a teen boy in the neighboring town of Southington.
This says to me that she has problems that need to be looked after. What she did is illegal, she did have sex with a minor, and provided him with alcohol. She should have to face the consequences of her actions, but I don't think jail will be the correct solution. This girl does need 'rehab'

And why the fuck are 14 year olds needing baby sitters. Can someone detail this to me. I can understand if they have mental problems or some other form of debilitation that would require this, but the article refuses to point that out so clearly the kid doesn't or she would be known as the babysitter that raped a handicapped person.

Did the boy or his parents report her?
Did the boy want to report her at all?

That makes all the difference in the world to me.
this, honestly with all sexual acts i believe that if both partys are willing there is no crime regardless of age, gender or whatever
obviously there are limits, the people in question have to understand the concept of what they are doing

the alcohol is the problem with that definition, in this case

honestly, if the parents had cared they'd just look after their child instead of dumping him on someone to go peruse their own interests

this still falls under bad parenting, which is the plague of modern society
people are pressured into relationships far too young, and have no time to enjoy life before they are encumbered by a child causing far reaching problems

I hate stories like this. I wanted to have sex with girls since before I was even physically able to and if the girl was as hot as she looks in that picture and not trying to hurt me or put something in my ass then there is no problem.

I remember this dude at my high school who got beat up for getting a well known and well loved extremely attractive teacher fired for this type of bullshit. But I'm a firm disbeliever in statutory rape, teenagers these days are smart enough to know what their doing and consent is consent no matter how old you are.

Before reading the article and the update; I'd have said that she was deserving of going to jail. Not only is she a minor herself but she bought alcohol for a younger kid (lets face it, it happens) and then got all Barry White on his ass.
That action alone deems some kind of jail time, because who's to say that underage guys aren't her thing and this is something that could go on.

That would be warren enough.

However if your article holds up true and they had some kind of sexual relationship before hand, well I'm in two minds.
The boy could well have wanted to sleep with her, you put a fairly attractive woman in front of a 14 year old boy and your hormones are flying around enough anyway.
For all we know he could have instigated it.

and that aside.

The article said:
"This isn't a victimless crime. I think that this is really a double standard," said family therapist Terry Real. "I think the idea that all boys are ready to have sex at all times with their hot babysitters doesn't really take into account the sensitivity of a young boy."
The article said:
"It's very difficult for a 14-year-old boy to make decisions about sex and the decision shouldn't be imposed on him by someone who is significantly older," Real said.
These two paragraphs piss me off so much, they're in direct contradiction of the actions being taken. One suggests that the boy should be thought of and one suggests that the decision should be made by him.
Well, it isn't going to be because of the law.

It's a plee for
When in no way shape or form was his opinion on the matter ever going to be taken into account when under the eyes of the law.
It's a simple claim in order to victimise the child and make the babysitter suffer more than she already will do.

"Nicccccccccccccccccce........" (Southpark reference)

I really can't get much of an opinion on this one, its odd that a 19 year old woman would sleep with a 14 year old male.

Depends a bit.
If they were indeed in a relationship and she didn't get him drunk and all that, she should get some relatively mild punishment, I say. It's a crime, but not a horrible heinous one, so I say give her at least community service, maybe a bit of jailtime (I don't really know how much'd be appropriate).

If she did get him drunk though; some decent jailtime is definitely in order.

Why do I have this weird double standard in my head; I feel like this boy is very, very lucky, but if it was a 20 year old dude with a 14 year old girl I would condemn it.
