A 14 year old is NOT FUCKING INNOCENT! Boy or girl, they know they want sex. If they meet an attractive member of the opposite sex, they will want their dick/vagina. This girl's not a criminal, she was probably just being nice. People calling her a "sex offender," don't know what that actually means.
I have pretty good idea of what it means. A sex offender is a person who has committed a sex crime, an adult having sex with someone underage is a crime ergo she is a sex offender.
Kinda fucked up being nice means you go to jail. 2 people having sex that are 6 years apart that are in their sexual prime and it's wrong for them to do it. Yet sex when you're old and shit doesn't work as well is basically glamorized. Sometimes I hate as humans in modern day we're still overall very immature and scared when it comes to sex.

This isn?t about fear. Someone that young simply cannot give informed consent.
There are kids at 14 that have jobs. Shit at that age I had a small gambling racket. There's people much older the 14 that don't have the correct state of mind. Morality Laws are really messed up because they really don't work because everybody is different. One kid maybe immature and naive. While the other is wise and well-informed. It goes for adults too just because one is of age doesn't mean they ready by default.

Did the boy or his parents report her?
Did the boy want to report her at all?

That makes all the difference in the world to me.
Honestly, I'm of the same mind. I don't think that any truly consenting relationship between biological adults should be illegal.

Also, if you didn't read the edit, his mom reported her and the two had been having a sexual relationship for about a year.
There's a difference between consent and informed consent.
What are you talking about? I have no reason to believe that anyone in this relationship was misinformed.

As flawed as it may be, what does the law say about this?

Don't know exactly where this is all going on, i assume somewhere in the USA? They must have some law stating that any sexual conduct between an adult and a non-adult is a crime or something like that? Well, it's easy then. Conviction following that law and it's precedents.

No differentiation because it's a 20-year old girl with a 14-year old boy instead of the other way around. We all know if that was the case he'd already be convicted and publicly destroyed. So why should it be any different now? It shouldn't, that's what!

Prosecute and sentence! Law is law, no exceptions should be made.

PS: I don't want to come over as some "the law is always right and should be followed to the letter"-kinda guy, but you can't go around choosing which ones are ok to follow and which are not. It's an all or nothing kind of deal.

There are three really important (to me at least) questions here.

1. Did she get him drunk, or did they drink together?

2. Did he or a family member press charges?

3. Did he want to have sex with her?

Without those questions properly answered I cannot form a proper opinion on the matter.

If it turns out that they had a few drinks together, had sex willingly and a parent pressed charges I do believe this woman to be innocent.
I share this opinion of yours; but people ask what if it was a 20 year old guy with a 14 year old girl? I reply: what were the circumstances? I never make a premature judgement without some solid facts and answers.
Yes, well, guess what? The circumstamces don't fucking matter. If the genders had been reversed, the 14-year-old girl could scream that it was 100% consentual til she was blue in the face. uess who's still going to jail
A real double standard but one that is not without a smidgen of merit. You see it has been proven that many (but not all) girls who become sexually active at a young age may develop cognitive and emotional issues as they develop while at the same time many (but once again not all) boys can become sexually active as young as twelve and still develop normally (but once again I will stress that this is not guaranteed). But the effects, longevity, and overall outcome is almost impossible to predict with today's knowledge and methodologies. I think Canada has the age of consent law right, at least to a limited degree. A person age 12 to 13 may have sex with someone up to two years older than them. A person 14 to 15 may have sex with someone up to 5 years older than them. At age sixteen no more rules apply. While this is not perfect I feel that it does a good enough job in protecting youth by not out right barring them but rather limiting them to an age group small enough to prevent one from having a disproportionate advantage over the other physically and mentally.

ummm, why is a 14 year old being babysitted?
My thoughts exactly. Weird.

In any case, to not charge her would show a horrific, sexist double standard in society.

[sub]That said, I'd totally let her rape me. I mean... uh.. wait what?[/sub]

Bah, here it goes, even if my post gets lost in this avalanche of replies.

Yes, go to jail, girl. Look, I've met some really pretty girls who can be quite deceiving. The fact of the matter is that:

-She is an adult (Older than 18 can be considered one)
-He is underage (Same as above, only opposite)

So legally, she deserves this. Not only that but, AND NO OFFENSE TO 14 YEAR OLD KIDS OUT THERE, at that age, kids are not that smart compared to a 20 year old who's probably had a couple of serious relationships. I'm talking about doing a little more than holding hands here.
I know it's only a 6 year gap between the two but at that age, I think it's safe to say the girl is more experience and smart, simply because of the age.

The kid was horny and dumb. The girl was also horny (I suppose, because what could she possibly see in that baby?), whorey and smart.

Sorry but I just can't understand how a 20 year old girl could possibly hope to have a serious relationship with a kid! Okay, let's pretend she truly loves him. He's still a kid! By the time she's ready to have kids, he's barely gonna be getting out of high school. So if she really loves him, she should have waited. Not because having sex is bad or anything, but because it's pointless.
Getting a little racy here, how pleasurable could it be to have sex with a 14 year old?

Look, I know 14 year old kids are already having sex at that age and apparently, it's quite common. it still doesn't make it okay. There's a time and an age for everything. While this girl is thinking about sex and looking for a job and stuff, the kid is thinking about Pokemon and his 360. It's just not right.

I don?t care how mature a 14 year old thinks they are. They are still more puerile, naive, inexperienced, and exploitable than adults.
Quoted for truth. And that's part of the reason that an adult having sex with a child is wrong; she is in a position of authority over him and he is not old enough to realistically protect himself. Two 14-year-olds having sex is a different situation because there isn't such a power differential between them; it's far less likely that one of them could easily exploit the other. C'mon, that kid isn't even old enough to drive yet, but people are trying to pretend he's a mature adult who is wholly responsible for his actions, and who would feel comfortable telling an adult babysitter (who his parents told him to obey, presumably!) not to have sex with him? That's putting a lot on the shoulders of someone whose voice just started to change. :p

And no, it's not enough for him to say he wanted it because one thing about kids is they can be easily influenced by adults to say things they don't actually agree with. You could probably find a 5-year-old who swears up and down they liked being molested too; doesn't mean it's defensible. In a case of statutory rape the victim is legally unable to consent, even if they never said "no" to the rapist, because part of what our legal system does is protect children and teenagers from predatory adults like this woman, who could otherwise weasel a "yes" out of any child they please.

If it was a guy he would go to jail. So if anyone wants to pretend there's any degree of gender equality in the world they'll say "send her to jail" as well.

As far as the law's concerned you cannot consent to sex if you're 14. She should know this. Hell they should both know this. She's either a complete idiot or she had sex with him knowing it was illegal and she could be prosecutred for it.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. If she didn't think jail time was worth the risk then she shouldn't have done it plain and simple, regardless of whether or not the boy actually wanted it.

Clear-cut case of statutory. And no, "rehab" is a load of bullshit--I sincerely hope the jury tells the judge to tell the attorney/the chick to stuff it.

My reaction to the whole relationship can be summed up in one word...

ALRIGHT FINE! I'll be an adult and admit that the age difference and him being 14 is not right. But let's admit it gentlemen, when we were all fourteen we were all fantasizing about women that were even older than her.

I feel statutory rape is the stupidest law of all. Sure, it's wrong if kids are TOO young, but 14 and up, those kids are already in that phase, they're most likely gonna fuck anyway, and as long as they use protection, why the hell not?

ok i admit im no expert on gay fourrteen year old males but as a straight male with friends and a big family the same i can say that straight males always want sex with good looking woman somtimes from age 13 and it woud be impossible for a girl that hot to rape straight fourteen year old male as HE WOULD LOVE IT!!!
You do realize that that sounds incredibly arrogant and douchy, right? As in "Because I and most of my buddies would have done it, EVERYONE would have done it and MY WORD IS ABSOLUTE!"

No offense, but there are plenty of 14-year-old boys who wouldn't have wanted that. Straight, ordinary boys. You might think that it's abnormal or something, but there are plenty who really won't actually want sex at that age. Might not have been the case here, but claiming every straight human male of age 14 desires sex with a hot woman and wouldn't oppose such, stat, is incredibly stupid.

And on topic, that's pedophilia, which is a crime, which gets you jail in most places. Don't really see the problem here.
so you are saying that a good looking girl going up to you and saying lets have sex (im asuming you are straight) would get a no? even if seeing gave you a hard on?? i think not
It may shock you troll boy, but some men have this thing called "self control" that allows them to decide which urges to listen to at any given moment. This allows them to do things like: Keeping girlfriends; Respecting others; Not being jailed for rape/murder/arson/incest etc; Say things online that don't invite ridicule; Not make blanket statements based on the impeccable logic of teenaged boys; Make friends with educated people; Earn more than $8/h by the time they're 30, and many many other perks. The down side of this is every now and again someone calls you a fag or questions your manliness, but the kicker is: Once you've learned to control your junk and your heart, you don't care so much what those less socially evolved among us think...
did you jus ignore the question? i think you did you have yet to reply so again giry asks for sexs she is hot and wants you your reply is "i can mak mor than $8/h if i say no???? yes or no dude its that simple make a choice
You're really not going to last long around here sunshine... How's the answer of "I have a girlfriend and a child and don't think a quick shag with a random girl is even vaguely worth my time, and when you consider that I'm in an open relationship that's really saying something" grab you? Or would "Don't bother demanding simple answers to complex questions, it demeans us both" strike you for an answer? How about "I lived the kind of life you claim to aspire to, and found it empty, shallow and ultimately boring"?

In other news, those that live on the lowest socioeconomic rungs of society (I'm assuming that's you with your spelling, punctuation and attitude towards ever earning more than $8 an hour) have a tendency to breed early, as do other mammals living in stressful conditions. This is primarily an evolutionary response to threats. I feel for you if you're there to be frank, as chances are your life will be short, brutish, oversimplified, and ultimatly boring to any other than your own peer group. But hey, at least you got the clap every time the opportunity arose...
if anyone ever took the chance to miss the point at every turn it is you sir i have heard the argument you just made TWICE in this thread already as replys to what i have said and my anwser remains the same, most men bow to social presure like this:

1:HAVING MORE SEX MAKES YOU COOLER

2: HAVING SEX WITH MULTIPLE PARTNERS MAKES YOU COOLER

3:AS A MAN YOUR EXPECTED TO JUMP AT GOOD LOOKING GIRLS

to name but a few, if you are a parent that would explain your atatude to this whole thing as studies show parents are among the most represed people in the world. in general if a woman goes up to a man and offers sex and she looks good he says yes and marriage does nothing to stop this as the number of men having cheating on their partners is just going up, all facts show that, most MALES LOVE SEX, if none of this applys to you you will find i have included in my other posts to poeople who said the same kind of thing you said that MOST males not ALL of course there is going to be some that dont bow to social presure and say no to sex but thats not you, well it is now BUT BY YOUR OWN ADMISSION you have lived the life of somone who says yes to random sex, telling me that if at fourteen a really hot girl had said she wanted to sleep with you you would have said yes.
and btw i am in university and will be making 66k a year as of next june
