As a Female in her 20's, I just have to say.... ew.
14 is WAY too young. But then again, I prefer Men older than me so..

Idk what to think of this really. If she was in a consenting relationship, it is very different to sexual assault. However, it is still ew.. and illegal.

There should be no double standards here. If a Man her age was to date a girl at 14, he wouldn't get such leniency.

EDIT: Reading many posts, it is clear that many guys have the view of "this is what every young boy dreams of, who wouldn't want that at 14" and to that I can't help but then think that she was being VERY manipulative. She is taking advantage. I can't believe no one has actually noticed that. Probably because they are wrapped up in a fantasy lol.

I don't think I agree with jail though, because I don't think just putting her behind bars for a few years would do any good. She needs help.

Look at it like this.

What if it was a 20 year old male babysitter who got a 14 year old girl drunk and slept with her?

That's right people would be screaming for blood.

But seriously why is this even up for debate?

Providing alcohol to a minor
Sexual assault
Sexual assault of a minor
This! Seriosly always when I hear about a guy that has a relationship with a older girl its "WOOHOO you go boy!" and when it is the other way around it is "Oh my God he must have forced her!".

So yeah I say put her in jail, because sadly that´s the law.

One could argue the legalities around this. That is to say, one could argue whether some of this being felonies is reasonable or not.

While it *is*, I find the law should be applied evenly regardless of gender, for starters. If the genders were reversed, this would not be up for debate. I say apply the law according to intention and letter as one can best do. That probably means jail time for the babysitter.

Not going to talk about the law here as this is most definatly against it.
However I think the law is wrong. I don't think it works properly when put a single number is the difference between legal and illegal.

Of course an adult attracted to children has problems, but teenage is where it gets grey. I've known 18 year olds who look 14 and 14 year olds who look 18. People hit puberty at different ages, and so the age they are ready to have sex is at different ages.

Also when I was 15 I had sex with a 17 year old girl, which would be statutory rape on her part (UK i 16). I knew what I was doing and I was mature enough to make that choice.

This is kinda rambling but morality wise there are just so many variables, so very many shades of grey.

Do you have any evidence? Besides why should that matter?

As an adult that girl should of had the commonsense not to sleep with the kid she was supposed to be taking care of.
Nope, it matters because men are generally more likely to initiate things like that. He would have known that he was in the wrong, it's like when kids watch things that are too cool for them like south park or play games that are rated above their age. They know it's wrong but will do it a lot of the time anyway, he was probably a giant douche.

Best reasoning I have EVER heard.
