Love fighting games. I haven't played any seriously in a while (though I do definitely plan to pick up the "new" SF4 when it's released), but when I was playing them pretty much daily I would have classed myself as well above average (but well below the level of anyone who could win tournies heh).

Favourite games:
SFA3 - Near perfection. The only thing that could make it better was a tad better balance and better graphics
Tekken - Tag was my favourite, but 5 is really good as well. Haven't played 6 yet
CvS2 - amazing multi player, but the beyond cheap boss characters made single player a waste of time
MvC1 - ait was just crazy enough to be fun without going overboard into MvC2 territory

Good but not favourites:
VF4 - Very technical and a good variety of characters, but the juggling just never feels right to me
SF3 - Great games but I just couldn't get into most of the new cast

I love fighting games, actually. They're one of my favorite genres (alongside RPGs and rhythm). I'm not totally experienced with them (I've never played the Dead or Alive or Killer Instinct games, or any Mortal Kombat after 3), but I've gotten a few titles under my belt.

These days, though, it's mostly Arcana Heart, Melty Blood, Smash Brothers, Fate/Unlimited Codes, Tekken 5: DR, and Capcom vs. SNK 2. I don't own a Guilty Gear title, myself, and none of the arcade I know of have one...

Huge fighting game fanatic here!

Games to look out for:

- Capcom Vs SNK 2 (EO)
- Marvel VS Capcom 2 (fun but a bit spammy!)
- Soul Calibur 2, (all the other ones don't seem as good)
- Dead Or Alive Ultimate, (i.e DOA 1 and 2 set)
- Street Fighter 3 (Anniversary is also good as you get SF2 animated movie and the stupidly hard Hyper Street Fighter 2 as well!)
- Street Fighter Alpha series (the best ones for me were 2 and 3, but 3 has way more characters!)
- Street Fighter 4 (So great!)
- Tekken 3/Tekken Tag Tournament (both are the best in my opinion, but 6 is decent, and I heard 5 was pretty good too. 4 although not bad just isn't worthy in comparisson)
- JoJo's Bizarre adventure (the oddest fighting game of all time in my opinion! good though :D)
- Darkstalkers (Street fighter on acid!)
- Blazblue (haven't played it, but I hear good things about it!)

For the real elitists (i.e. people who have OCD when it comes to this kinda thing! XD):

- Virtua Fighter 4 (3 is good as well, but nobody really plays it)
- King Of Fighters series (take ya pick! XD)
- Guilty Gear (damn hard!)
- MUGEN (its not stricly a game, but you look on youtube and see what the fights on there can be like! :0)

But there are alot more fighter out there on the arcades and consoles that have good cult followings, such as Rival Schools, and Tobal No.1.
You bring up MUGEN and not Melty Blood? Heretic!

Must finish that review...

I play some, but not because it is a famous series. I play it if I think it is good. Just because it is famous doesn't make it good. Street Fighter and Smash Bros come to mind as famous and horrible.

I stick to Guilty Gear / BlazBlu and Soul Caliber with some DOA sprinkled in there. (All famous yes, but I don't care about that. They are just good games).

I don't tend to play them online due to crazy good Japanese people. But I have a good time in Arcade Mode in most games.

BlazBlue is my favorite fighting game ever.

I enjoy the Smash Series, Tekken 6, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, and the upcoming Tatsunoko vs Capcom.

So yes I enjoy many fighting games.

When I was a kid and played street fighter 2, I instantly became a fighting game fanatic, Everything from side scroller beatem ups(double dragon), to 1v1 fighting games. Now, I just don't feel like playing them a lot, I still go back to them, but that's only when I get hit by a beam of radioactivity.

Oh playable of course. it's just i hit combos and extra abilities faster by throwing the controller at the ground than actually attempting to reverse engineer my button mash tech or practice those careful combos.

Also when they code the book exmple being soul caliber 4...that just annoys me.

Go on ebay
Don't forget the 360 version is not region free, so we do have to wait for a euro release.

The PS3 version however, is region free!
(shame I won't be able to use mine, as big bro is taking it away to uni! :()

I likes me dems fighting games. There's plenty of great fighters out there, with Tekken, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter and Guilty Gear taking my top spots as awesome games, while the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi games are also pretty solid.

Yup, fighting games are pretty good, I'd say.

I have a love hate relationship with fighting games, but I'll be damned if they aren't fun. Personally, they are by far the BEST and truly most social video games ever. There is nothing more fun than 2 people playing a friendly or even competitive (if both aren't gonna whine) fighting game side by side or even online. It's just such a fun and personal experience, and sitting on the couch with a friend and playing results in hours of face breaking fun.

I have my select few that I enjoy, mainly Soul Calibur (2 and Broken Destiny), Killer instinct, Guilty Gear, Dissidia, and sometimes DoA. I want to try Blazblue, but I lack a console so I'll just have to wait for the PSP version; I'll probably like it seeing as it's a lot like Guilty Gear. I'm willing to try other fighters, but don't know of any ones that I'd be willing to invest my money on, though Fate Unlimited Codes looks up my alley.

I never cared for Tekken, Street Fighter, or Mortal Kombat though. I don't like Tekkens overindulgent combat structure and absurd juggling and bounding mechanics. Street Fighter has always felt too generic for me, but I'm willing to try SF4 if I get the chance. And MK is pure trash, with boring and stiff combat, and rather uninspired characters and stupid clones.

Go get Guilty Gear dammit!! Guilty Gear xx A core plus (latest and most definitive version) is for the PSP, Wii, and PS3. It's great and i'm sure you could find it for any one of those platforms.

Love Street Fighter because is ins't as hectic as games like Guilty Gear, where you see videos of character attacking while floating up int he air. Ugh can't stand that, I was born a Street Fighter guy, will always like it.

You need to add a "depends on the series" option. The 3rd option doesn't quite cut it. I don't play games because they're hyped up, I play them if I personally like them.

Admittedly the series I like are quite well known, but that's purely coincidental.
