if the point is to get from A to B as quick as possible why would you want the added journey in the middle with flying when you could just teleport there

You want to know why teleporting would suck, well, how would you like the idea of insta-killing yourself just so you can be cloned somewhere, and your clone can run about claiming to be you....ever watch the movie The Illusionist?
There would be no difference between you and the copy though. You are your memories. That's what makes you, you. Simply because you would be broken down then reassembled doesn't mean that you aren't you. No one would technically have died. I don't believe in a soul or anything else so what differentiates the teleportee the teleported?
No!

A copy is still nothing more than a copy, you would be dead and someone(thing) else would be running around with your memories, whether we're talking about a soul or not. Your consciousness would cease to be!

In the end, all that will remain of you is a pile of ash or vaporized molocoules while your clone runs around pretending to be you.

Teleporting if we're going by "Jumper" rules. You have to pay for that!
No I don't!

Flying would probably be a lot more fun, but I have to go with teleportation because of it being way more efficient.

Flying would be awesome, but teleporting allows for instant arrivals without being seen coming & makes for unseen getaways.

Been out drinking with your bowling buddies all night? Teleport in to the shower, then teleport somewhere hot & windy to dry off, then teleport right in to bed beside your sleeping wife...

The perfect cover up to a full night of responsible partying. :p

Not that I ever dreamed of that or anything.

Imagine grocery shopping? How easy would that be?

Teleportation. if it was like you imagine exactly where you want to be and you're there, that way you wont get stuck in a wall and all that stuff.

With flight, there's no risk of insta-kill massive hemorrhaging, and a prominent idea for teleportation is basically killing you, then instantly reconstructing you somewhere else, which is creepy no matter how you approach it. So I'd say flight; it's much more fun anyway.
Yeah I never liked that idea. I mean, are you still you? Don't you die and then another copy of you is created. I mean, that person isn't you, it is someone who is for all intents and purposes you, but you died, from his perspective there is a continual line of memory from you to him but it wouldn't be you with the memory of being you. It's all rather disturbing if you ask me and things like that are some of those few things that really get under my skin.

OT: Flying sounds sweet as. I mean, if I could teleport without the death-cloning, then I guess you might be be able to teleport high into sky and just before you hit the ground teleport back up but use weird portal mechanics to change the momentum to make you fly sideways then just keep teleporting to correct your path of momentum but if you did that you would only be able to accalerate sideways at the speed of gravity whereas if i can fly I'd just be '*poof* awaa[small]aaaaa[/small][sub]aaaaaaaaay[/sub].

So yeah, for fear of death I'd stick with flight.

Gotta stick with flight. Teleportation has the initial shock value of "oh, you're over there now." but flying is always cool if you want to show off, with or without wings.

By your defining then if someone was able to have their thoughts and memories implanted into a fake body then it wouldn't be them. I disagree. As I said that particular amount of cells would cease to exist. But what makes you, you would have an identical body. your consciousness would be in annother body. The only thing that defines who you are is your mind. If that is in a living body then you are alive. Also for the sake of this topic teleportation wouldn't have to be the breaking down and rearranging of particles. It could be opening a pocket dimension and slipping through it and reopening the dimension at the destination.

I still completely disagree with what you say though.
Well if we're talking about implantation here, that's difference, I might go with that.

What I'm talking about is replication, that's why I keep using the word clone.

What defines me is my consciousness, not my memories, and even if it can be replicated, we're still talking about destroying the original.

It's like if I was to commit murder, but escape charges just because I just so happen to be a scientist that can clone that person just before I decided to stick a double barrel shotgun in his mouth, and pull the trigger.

Would I be undoing the crime I just committed? Food for thought.

Anyways, back to the whole soul thing. I don't exactly believe in a soul either, but I still wouldn't allow my conviction to end up being my undoing, especially in a matter like this...lol

If I fly the way Superman flies, then I definitely choose flight. If it's giant wings I'd also fly so long as I could fold them up.

Teleporting. The only problem would be restricting myself to only using my power for good.

Your argument seems to be based on the fact that memories = conciousness. Just because a copy of you has the same memories as you doesn't mean you're the same person. Imagine if you created a copy of yourself with all the same memories as you, but you didn't destroy the original. Do you think you would live two lives in one conciousness? Or would it just be two people sharing the same memories?

Of course, if you could just teleport by creating wormholes like you said, that'd be perfectly okay. I'll assume that's the case and vote teleporting.

Flight. Too much room for error on teleportation. Would hate to end up partially inside a wall, and partially not.
Teleport out of it.

ever watch the movie The Illusionist?
Never seen that. But that happens in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prestige_(film).
