My vote goes to Alexander Hamilton, for he was killed in a gun duel with Aaron Burr, and thats badass.
Since when is losing a duel and dying "badass"? :/
It isn't him dying thats badass...well actually it kinda is.

It badass because he died for what he believed in, in a honorable and masculine way.
No, he said he was strongly AGAINST the practice of duelling... and what did he do? OH, thats right. He died duelling! It is stated that not only was Hamilton provoking Burr BUT he also picked the same pistol that shot a button from Burrs coat 5 years earlier during a duel... Oh and Hamilton was documented to have wild mood swings charateristic to that of a manic-depressive. His reasons for duelling could have been simply because of phsychological delusions.

Hamilton was being an absolute d*ck, he was the reason Jefferson got elected and Burr became Vice President rather than President and he was the reason he didnt get elected for the governship of New York in 1804.

It seems like Burr was being the "d*ick".
When he saw Hamilton shoot up instead of at himself, but Burr didn't care. Burr chose to shoot him.

That makes me glad that he didn't become president or governor.
And I don't see Aaron Burr on any U.S. money...mabey its a sign.

Alexander the Great? I mean, he had the Great in his name, he was probably doing something right.

Ok fine he's not the coolest guy that ever lived, but he was a smart man and got results.

No... I think Jefferson still tops him. Julius Caesar never bought half a continent from the French for the price of a footlong sub.

I don't know why, but I always identified with James Madison. I can't even recall what he believes in or stands for, but I just remember nodding along with him whenever I read a piece of his work from the history books.

You are saying that he is a d*ck based soley on a split second decision made during a duel that Burr had to make rather than what led to the duel AND Hamiltons contradictory points, I cant say thats a strong decision.

There are only so many bills to put faces upon... and if you get killed in a duel you are more likely to get put on a note than the person who killed you. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything other than Hamilton achieved what he wanted to by slandering Burr.

George Washington. I follow Cracked's line of reasoning here. Even if the whole cherry tree tale isn't really true, it demonstrates an important truism about our first president; he could easily destroy things, but simply chose not to.

The tree was a British sympathizer.

Hey it was Burrs idea to duel...you said it your self "he was strongly AGAINST the practice of duelling". And Hamilton was't really slandering Burr, he was just criticizing his ideas to make sure that it was the best decision which was essential in a new-born nation.

They all face eternal damnation for questioning His Majesty the King. Long live Great Britannia!

And for those of you not offended, I always had a liking for Hancock, just because he gave us that delightful little term. Oh and also, for the Americans who perist on making the error, we actually have a Queen (scary how many don't know that) though she is getting on in years. Just pray we don't end up with King Charles...he WILL cause trouble.

On topic... George the Great. The man grew mary jane on his estate; now try to imagine him talking like Cheech Marin.

Either Jefferson for writing the constitution and making several great quotes, or Benjamin Franklin for inventing a bunch of stuff and also making several great quotes.
Jefferson was not at the constitutional convention. He had nothing to do with it. He wasn't even in America at the time.

I'm going to have to choose Richard Henry Lee, the man who actually put forth the proposal that America break free from England. Thomas Jefferson just wrote an F-U letter to Britain two days later. (We celebrate Independence Day two days late, did you guys know that?)

Either that or John Hancock, who made his fortune smuggling illegal items with Latin America.

Actually it was not professional criticism, Hamilton had serious personal problems with BUrr. He started the anymosity between the two with such personal attacks. Burr, needing to defend his name from such attacks challange Hamilton... IF Hamilton was SO against duelling then he wouldnt have accpeted on those grounds, but he did proving his hypocrisy.

Hamilton did slander Burr though, he called him an unprincipled rogue. He stop Burr from being re-elected in 1804 and his governorship, Hamilton was being an absolute asshole.

Even Hamilton admitted that Burr was right to request a duel. He knew he had been ruining Burrs life... and in the end Burr died a broken man anyway.

You are arguing for someone who couldnt say he was right, but also wouldnt apologise. Instead he threw his shot away and died.
