I've said it here before, and I'll say it again. Fox News is biased, and obviously so. If you do not think so, I can almost guarantee that you vote Republican (or that you're not American). The fact is that the audience proves the bias.

It's also worthy of note that, say, by comparing The Daily Show with Jon Stewart with The O'Reilly Factor, more conservatives watch Stewart than liberals watch O'Reilly. And this pattern is not surprising for analysts of Viacom, the owner of the Comedy Channel, and Fox respectively. It also suggests clearly that Viacom is more centrist than left-wing. It's just that Fox is far to the right of centre, so anyone with a right perspective thinks that Viacom is left. (I can provide the statistics on this, if anyone is interested and requests. It'd be easy to retrieve.)

It's a directional problem, bias. You look at someone to the left of you, and you think that they are "left". But of course, objectively if you are both standing on a scale, that may not be true. They might be in the centre, with you on the right of that centre. The same can reply in the reverse, of course, but the thing is that there are further left sources than Viacom, whereas you'd have to march into the publications that call themselves - proudly - "conservative" to find ones that contain more of the quality than the Fox Channel.

Sadly this is true. My Journalism major has been teaching me this for three years now :p

The industry's future is a bleak one.
Despite my Media Studies major almost being complete, I'm not so worried about this, since people will still want news from somewhere, and television doesn't fill that space enough. News writing will survive in all its forms, I'd say - it's just likely to shrink as a business.

I do suspect that microtransaction-based web news will fail magnificently, though. And a good thing, too. It's a stupid business idea.
Yeah, being a Journalism major I hear about this topic far too often. We really just need someone to come along and create a business model that makes news gathering/reporting a profitable business with future technology. Easier said than done I know :p
This is a little off topic but what news are you going to report in?

I was watching Iron Man 2 and it came to the bit where Bill O'Rilly makes his cameo and out of no where someone shouts "Fuck you Bill O'Reilly!"

It took a few moments before I realized that person was me.

That about sums up my opinion of Fox News.

See what I'm getting at?
Yeah which is why I am neither. why can't we have a non Biased network?
Because humans beings by very definition are biased. That's why.

However, as to the topic.. Fox "News" is about as news as a War is Hippy Peace Time. Full of bullshit, and nothing more.
By very definition? No.

Existance makes us biased, a definition introduces bias of its own and is created by humans. Tut tut. :p
Except that "by definition" can also mean "because of their definition". So it's not as simple as you think. Wink, wink.

Its not just Fox. All broadcast news is bullshit. All they care about is ratings. Read a newspaper if you want half-way decent reporting.
This, every station pans to its crowd, fox to republicans and MSNBC to liberals, honestly, i have to read a story from at least 3 different sites before making up my mind on it.

Fox News gets away with a lot of crap because it's not officially a news network, but so many people see it that way that it's completely irresponsible. It would be like half the nation thinking that the Onion is a real news network.
I will not lie, if you look between the lines, comedy stuff like the onion and the Colbert Report gives us the most important news commentary if you look between the lines, just watch the regular stuff first so the message isn't lost nyoro~!

Yes, and with the factions of the intelligent having torn each other to shreds, the people who are too stupid to lie would become leaders.

Not exactly as ideal as one would like.
Since when was a politician smart? I see some flub more with mere sentences than I do trying to get a girl to drop trow...((and I"m terrible, by the way.)) Oh wait, that leads back to the whole "Intelligence cannot be measured by one's ability to speak" discussion offered up years and years ago. Alright let me say this: If all they do is argue, then does anything ever actually get done in a timely manner in order to rectify situations? No, which then leads me back to my politician murdering each other scheme... No more arguements, something happens, and if it fails we'll just try again, with a different approach hopefully(another thing politicians do, the repeat past mistakes...)

Politicians are gonna fight eachother, it's like war, but with less dramatic results, ya know? If every arguement in the House or Parliment ended with one side dressing in the entrails of their fallen enemy, wouldn't things get done quicker? Less paperwork too.

I was under the impression that CNN was left-center? I walked in on CNN tracing how assosiations with random people made obama a communist and therefore evil .. I walked right out, laughing the whole way! (what is the big deal about communism? I'm pretty sure the Cold War ended a while ago nyoro~?)
I think you mean "right-center" in this post.
no, I'm pretty sure its left.. but as of late im not so sure nyoro~

Biased news. No such thing. News is "A man was eaten by a bear," or "There is debate on a new health care bill." If you hear "A new health care bill is being debated that would almost certainly ruin the lives of the elderly while filling the pockets of the socialists up on capital hill," then that's not news. News is the facts and if you hear something other than simple fact or, worst of all, something about what will happen in the future, then you're hearing opinion, plain and simple. Thats why I get my news from the cold, unemotional, one-sentence "In the news" section of Wikipedia.

I watched it once.

I laughed. A lot.

Mostly because the thought of people taking them seriously made me want to cry.

Have I told you that I love you nyoro~? this is the problem with the 'news' media, its not like what it used to be, with no biases, now its just crap. http://sendables.jibjab.com/originals/what_we_call_the_news pretty much covers my view on the matter (links are allowed right?)

I love when Jon Stewart takes statements from Glenn Beck out of context, because it spares me his show's horrible skits and embarrassing "interviews". Because getting to hear Louis Black is a treat, even if all he does is ream on out of context statements from Mr. Beck.

Stewart doesn't care about the content of what Beck is saying, only making fun of how Beck delievers it.
