Gosh... That's a lot to choose from. I would go with Painkiller, but I had lost interest by the end.
I'll go with the first Call of Duty maybe.

Borderlands (I count it as it has basically the same layout as bioshock).
Wait... What?
Think about it, strip away the mad max aesthetic and it's basically bioshock with every room in rapture stretched 5 miles minus plasmids.
No. No it's not. Not even close.

Story, atmosphere, controls, weapons, enemies are all different. And Borderlands has levels, vehicle sections, different characters to chose from, different graphics.

They are incredibly different. Your statement does not make sense to me.

OT: Because I've had so much fun with it, I'm going with Time Splitters.

Got to go with the only game I've been playing continuously for YEARS. TF2.

Timesplitters gets my vote. Timesplitters: Future Perfect (a.k.a. TS3) was easily my favorite shooter of the GCN/XBOX/PS2 generation. It featured a solid single player campaign with a decent (if not goofy) story present through well-animated, hilariously-writter, and well-voiced cutscenes. However, the multiplayer is where the game truly hit gold. With dozens of characters, lots of leves, plenty of game modes, TONS of unlockables, and multiplayer bots, the split-screen multiplayer section of the game provided my friends and me with well over a hundred hours of excellent fun.

Look, I'm just connecting it to bioshock like the source games, sorry if i caused any offense.

You'd be right if Prototype was made by the same developer as GTA as well as same engine, same gameplay style, same controls...
Tons of games use the unreal engine, it's nothing special (Either way, they use different versions). Bioshock was made by Irrational Games and Borderlands was made by Gearbox. The controls and gameplay are pretty standard to the modern FPS.

Halo. Love it or hate it (i love it.) you can't deny how it affected the FPS genre. Ever since it came out back in 01', dozens upon dozens of FPS' have tried to copy its game play formula, trying to cash in on its mind-blowing success. It changed the way developers make first person shooters. It might not have been as revolutionary for the genre as say Goldeneye was, but it still has made its mark (a damn big one too) and sealed its place in video gaming history.

Which doesn't make much sense. I mean, I understand the Source-games, but you can't put System Shock in a category, then put in Bioshock because it's a "spiritual successor" to System Shock, and then put in Borderlands because it has the same developer as Bioshock. Then Borderlands has absolutely nothing to do with System Shock, therefore nothing to do with the Shock-series.

That would be like if I said.

"OK, one category for best Stealth Game is the MGS series, but I also add the Splinter Cell series to the mix, because it has a protagonist in spandex, just like MGS! And because Tom Clancy had his finger in making Splinter Cell, I will also add H.A.W.X."

Oh... My god... If you strip away the speed, Sonic the Hedgehog is basically Super Mario with every level coloured in and with a power up that wreathes you in stars instead of making you bigger!

Yeah, Borderlands and Bioshock were very different. Still, it's Halo 2, so this discussion is moot.

Far Cry I. I remember my fresh new computer in 2004. Far Cry was the first game I bought, because it wast the prettiest. Then it turned out it's actually a very hard and challening (and thus - very enjoyable for me, when you had to outsmart all those guards in a jungle fight) game. I loved any single second of it... And those graphics...

Crysis didn't manage to make such a big reaction on me as FC despite being even prettier, Half-Life 2 bored me completely each of 10 times I tried to finally beat it, Call of Duty stopped being fun for me after CoD II, never played Halo.

Instead of 'other', I voted for Painkiller though, because it's really damn good shooter + I'm going to aid my fellow countrymen who made this game as a loyal Pole :)

Goldeneye is the best FPS of every decade.
I have to disagree and go with Perfect Dark here ;)

Also, I voted for Halo because there has been no other shooter out this decade that I've had so much fun with. I also think that it set the standards for console shooters so much higher than they had been; we probably wouldn't have Modern Warfare if not for success of Halo.
