Already said, but saw is what comes to mind. What are they on now six or seven?

Those movies started getting crappy after 2.

Twilight. Should've ended the second the first letter was typed.

Also Pokemon. The show not the games. I heard they're still making episodes now. Who even watches it any more?

None of the ones you mentioned have been 'done to death' I feel. Mario - now that's done to death but when it comes to tv I guess Big Brother is a bit past its sell by date. Movies? Well I've always loved James Bond and I still watch the old ones so I'm happy for more, I like Twilight as it's just pretty men running around and being pretty and Harry Potter and Star Wars are pretty much finished as franchises go. They're not ridiculously in your face.

Whilst I see peoples points that Twilight hasn't gone on too long because there's 4 books, I think that the series shouldn't have even reached 4 books. IMO, the books are dragged out mostly by Bella's whining.
Plus it's just annoying all the attention Twilight gets x.x

Also, I think Mario, Sonic, Shrek...and anime-wise Naruto and Bleach, have gone on far too long.

These days it seems like everything is a sequel. I will say this though, certain franchises need to die, but others that never should have started, need to be finished properly. It's like building a car without the engine block. What's the point of starting if you're not gonna finish? At least make a halfassed attempt at making something decent...

Series that need to Finish what they started would include Star Wars (Did you know there are actually three "Films" that should have been made that take place after the Original series?), Harry Potter (I will be pissed if the mess up the end battle. It was one of the greatest literary fights I've ever read outside of a dogfight between a WWII PBY Flying Boat and a WWI Albatross...), And... Twilight. Yea, Twilight.

One thing I feel they should do though, is fix the stuff that was "broken", if you will, in the books if they're adaptations. Trying to have an open mind, I read that Twilight crap for my girlfriend. They were actually well written to a degree and original. The End of the final book, was the most infuriating thing I have ever read.

**SPOILER** It sets up for an epic Monster on Monster on Human on superpowered freak of nature battle and you know what happens? NOTHING! They basically say, "Oh, sorry. We got it wrong. See you around the supermarket. We should have a cookout next week." and proceed to walk away. What. The. F&%$? **SPOILER END**

That is something that should be "fixed" in the movie. Have the bloody battle that you set up for. Something like that had so much potential and Meyer pissed it away.

The Bond movies, well, they arguably need to die, but they're ALL remakes and book adaptations that have been done well except for the original Casino Royale which inadvertently turned into a Parody. A Bad one. Like Rocky Horror Picture Show, Star Wars Christmas Special bad.

Every Horror Film series ever needs to die. Scream, Friday the 13th, Freddy Krueger, Jason Vorhees, Alien, Predator, Saw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hostel... They need to go the way of the Dodo and be forgotten.

Video game franchises that need to die? Final Fantasy. Mario. Arguably Zelda. Each Zelda game is essentially the same, but each does it differently enough that it's still enjoyable... I think what many of the better and bigger fantasy style franchises, like Final Fantasy, Zelda and a few others need is either a bullet to the head or a complete re-invigoration.

What do I mean by Re-invigoration? For example. Link. From the Legend of Zelda Series. Have Hyrule develop into a modern culture. Give him a magic Shotgun instead of "The Great Fairy's Bow". A Motorcycle instead of Epona. A Flashlight and batteries instead of a Lantern with oil. Scuba Gear instead of the Zora Tunic. Grenades and C4 instead of Bombs.... Keep some things the way they were. The master sword, the hat, the shield... Those are Icons. Have him be an average Joe working at a Museum or something or visiting one maybe and have him acquire the original tools of the hero there. Maybe he's an artifact thief and steals them only to find that they should have been his all along? See what I'm going for here? They don't really need to die.... They just need to be reborn...

Although I don't like Twighlight at least it's almost over so that's not a big deal. I voted other because I'm tired of Nintendo. Star Wars may be milking the cash cow too but at least the plot is changed; it may not always be good but it's at least semi-original. Almost every Zelda/Mario game begins with the kidnapping/endangerment of the princess. This may just be personal bias since I like Star Wars and don't really care for Nintendo but I stand by my point.

There are no such franchises.
Why would you want a franchise dead if by its continuation it is implied that at least some people enjoy it.
No one's forcing you to play/watch/read new installments.

Also, Finaly fantasy needs to at least start giving its games different names, I mean did they run out of creativity in the naming deparpment? it just feels kinda... lame...
It was to be Hironobu Sakaguchi's final work, since his other stuff failed miserably apparantly. However Final Fantasy (exactly what it was to him), was a hit. So it's continued now into 13 games (1-13), 2 sequels (10-2 and FF4: The After Years), a movie or two, and several spin-offs (more centred on FF7). As well as that FF14 and 15 are in the works.

@topic: Sonic and Mario. Let them die. Not that they have any dignity left.
It was actually the companies last work as well as they were going bankrupt. Also even though I am a fan Final Fantasy needs to be put to rest or rejuvenated and taken in a new direction story wise as the stories are essentially the same at this point.

Well yes. The same in what way? Though they're all 'beat the bad guy, save the world', they are different. Haven't played 13 but if the characters really are bland like I've read, I can see how that's similar, since 12's characters were bland.

StarCraft, WarCraft, modern day shooters, Diablo II clones...

I mean, you don't have to be Superman to have some imagination, right?

Gameplay is different and characters are fairly different from game to game but the general premise of the story is the same. Yes they are about people beat bad guy save the world but so many are Evil Corp or Empire Rules world they are bad you are part of Resistance/Renegade group and you should probably stop them even though someone in it or related to it or pulling the strings has some completely different ulterior motive completely off the plot origanally set forth by the respective game.

I certainly see your point. I tend to over-look it myself, likely the illusion given by the FF worlds not being linked (except the two direct sequels).
Once I've played 13 (and 14+15 when they're released) I'll decide whether I think they should stop making FF. I thoroughly enjoyed 12 (minus the shit characters) and it's new combat style, but not sure what more they can add to make it any better.

It's not that I don't think the premise is bad in the series just overused. They always do go about it at different angles which is good but a new fresh story would be good as all the different atmospheres created in each world are a bti ruined by it in my eyes. I would like Random battles back with the edition of Encounter None ability. Best thing ever. I got to run through bits when I need and grind when I want to. which I think is a good edition or option as the fleeing in FFXII was awful never worked. I do like that they are changing the combat though and encounters as it is nice to try new things.

I picked anime just cause of Dragonball, Bleach, Naruto,Inuyasha and all that other stuff.
Out of those, I'd say Naruto though :/
