Anyone who plays this game are either cynical about Mists of Pandaria or you're too new to the game to form an opinion. In a completely biased stand point i believe that this should not come to pass, Blizzard has not finished cashing out of Cataclysm to even announce another tumor to its failing expansion series. they've failed to immerse the player in the game anymore and as a result are loosing subscribers by the boatload.
If your a lore Fanatic like myself you will be questioning why they are continuing the series when all the major bad ass mutha's have been toppled already and some twice. now we are going after a power no one has ever heard of in a desperate ploy to continue WoW's story.
Now what first triggered my disgust in this new expansion would have been the Pet battles in which you can have pets and companions fight... now, i don't know about you but that is a terrible idea, WoW is no longer about Skill, game play, story and fun it is now about references and spamming the same key until something falls over in failed simulated agony.
I know that MoP is still in beta and many things are still to change, just the concept is something that should not be attempted in my personal opinion. we don't need more classes and playable races we need more effort put into questing, dungeons and adventure-able areas, also a decrease in cost wouldn't hurt either, but now I'm off topic.
Now, i want your opinions on Mist of Pandaria and the current state of WoW, more people with different states of mind might be able to put more into perspective.

I used to be, or at least I was heading there. Then the Burning Crusade happened and I cut my ties to Warcraft. I've been out of the loop since exactly a week after the Draenei were announced. What is so bad with Mists of Pandaria?

Oh and didn't Blizzard start a yearly schedule for expansions? It's something I heard a bit back, I don't know how true it is.

I'm not sure but it might have something to do with this...

There are those who just play World of Warcraft for just straight fun. Speaking as a former WoW player (stopped playing early this year since joining in Vanilla), I believe Blizzard will do what they always do to ensure player loyalty and continued subscriptions. I enjoy the lore of Warcraft as well, but I'm not going to argue with how Blizzard writes it because, well, it's theirs and they can do what they want with it.

Mists of Pandaria looks like fun, but I won't be joining Azeroth again. The game has lost the appeal it once had for me in my younger days. However, I wish Blizzard and those who still do play the best of luck.

Speaking as a former assistant raid leader for a top-10 raiding guild on my realm, I think it's a bad idea, both in terms of lore/atmosphere and in terms of actual gameplay.

But then, my opinion really doesn't matter anymore, as it's been months since Blizzard got any money from my WoW account.

Frankly, the last time I had actual fun with WoW was Burning Crusade. I had fun in WoW during Wrath and Cata, but it was because I liked the people I played the game with - not because I particularly liked the game. By the time Wrath and Cata came around, everything about the game had become so... routine. Stale.

And now they're going to improve things by... further simplifying them and adding in a race and environments that make the game look like even more of a children's cartoon than it already did? Meh. No thanks.

I mostly play WoW so I don't fool myself into getting things like TOR or that stupid elder scrolls MMO.

Seriously, why do they keep turning my favourite franchises into MMOs? I hate that.

I, personally, have very few issues with WoW and the direction it's going (my main issue being the complete lack of challenge in solo play after Cata), it just got stale and boring for me, so I quit. I'm sure that if I started playing for the first time today, I would enjoy it just as much, or almost as much, as I did back when I did play WoW.

I do, however, have a serious issue with the MMO industry in general, and that's most developer's absolute refusal to completely drop the current MMO model. Most new MMOs really only change one aspect of the formula, when it really needs a complete overhaul. Sure, there can be some traditional MMOs, but MMOs don't all need to use the traditional formula.

WoW is in decline, and Mists will continue the slide into... not so much death - it has years of life to it yet - but irrelevance. My impression is that the devs have an absolute idea of how the game should be played and are redesigning the game to force everyone to play that way and no other. Rather than broadening the scope of the game over the years they've reduced it to rushing players to the endgame as quickly as possible. Ghostcrawler's posts usually leave me with the impression that he doesn't give a damn about anything that happens before lvl cap.

Mists won't help. The pandas are a ridiculous idea and - prior obscure references in WC3 notwithstanding - they're completely irrelevant to the world, and after MoP has run its course they'll return to obscurity - kind of like the Draenei did after TBC, or Death Knights did after Wrath.

I daresay MoP will generate a brief population spike as people return to burn through the new content, but that'll last a month or two at best. Then it's back onto the raid treadmill and Blizzard don't even seem to be able to do that very well anymore - which is why people have been doing the Hour of Twilight raids since last November.

WoW's too big to die overnight of course, probably over years, but personally I'd predict it'll continue to slide, losing another couple of million over the course of MoP before going fully F2P by the next expansion in 2014... most likely around when 'Titan' is ramping up to take its place.

They had to start making new lore at some point
Also if they are losing people by the boat load, they would still have to sink a couple of titanic sized boatloads for it to make a difference and that's if they aren't picking up subscribers just as fast
The pet battles are terrible but it's more of a casual thing so it might make sense for them to add random crap that has nothing to do with leveling, questing or raiding.

Overall the Chinese theme might be interesting and even mixing up how people play their class but it will still be another bland experience in an increasingly bland game. MMOs need a Renaissance and the worst possible thing for mmos would be for wow to survive to become increasingly more expensive.

I was about as pessimistic as possible when they announced Pandaland, but after playing the beta for a while I really think it will be fine. I mean, it couldn't be worse than Catafail, could it? Obviously WoW's best years are behind us, but I think Pandaland will be at least as fun as Cataclysm. That's not saying a lot, but whatever.

I play a goat and love it, I agree they got the shaft lore-wise, but BC was my favorite expansion, hated WoLK and thought Cata was OK. I'm not looking forward to some of the changes in MoP, but WoW is still a fun time-sink.

Ahaha.
Haha.

Whilst I know your next line said you were biased, I'm going to disregard it. I'm in the beta, and it's pretty damn cool so far.
Also, been playing since the damn thing all started.

G-G-G-Guild Wars 2 is on the horizon. Goodbye WoW, and the days of the media basing all their assumptions of gaming off you guys.
