Sports games, specifically racing games. When I went over to a friend's house, we played Project Gotham Racing 3. We both embarassed ourselves horribly. Me, because I'm a horrible driver, and her because she thought she had top screen. Whoops!

Also horizontal scrolling shmups. I can think in 2D space vertically, but if it's sideways, I don't have a prayer. Which is a shame because one of my most favorite vertical scrollers has a bonus pattern where bullets come in from the sides. I can't wrap my brain around it. I could figure out the complete mindfuck that was the rest of the boss fight, but once it got to Tele-Mesmerism, my brain oozed out of my ears.

I don't play sport games because I'm not interested in sports, and I don't buy fighting games for my home console because I don't feel they have any replay value.

shooters, rts, jrpg, Sports (with some exceptions made to fighting sports given interesting enough characters), and pretty much anything in first person due to headaches.

I don't play First-Person Shooters. I've only played 3 or 4 games from the first person perspective that I enjoyed overall.

Age of Empires 2 is the only RTS I ever liked.

I don't play horror games period. I just can't handle them (seriously, Dead Rising scared me).

Other than that, I think I play most genres...

Sport games. The only things under that category I would and do play are the N64 Mario Golf/Tennis games, and certain racing games (Mario Kart Series and some of the Burnout Series). I also don't play many Simulation Games.

MMORPGs, but like many genres before it, I believe its more of a case of having not yet found the game that will convert me, I'm thinking of trying Eve Online next.

I never play music games, never saw the appeal. That and beat em up games like Street Fighter.

I tend to like most games...though I'm not a big fan of Fighting games...they are just a bit boring and overly complex in the combos in ways that are not fun for me.

You don't have shooters in your poll. That is a big one. I hate shooters, specially FPS's.
Sorry, only had 8 options, so everything else had to go under other!
You could have made action and adventure one genre and put shooters down. Shooters are a lot bigger than a/a.

Anyway, sports. I never play sports games. If I don't like a game in real life I don't see why I'd want to play a game about it, especially when that game is the same one released every year. As a rule I also don't play any racers, unless it's Mario Kart. Simulation games are fairly broad, but I don't play many "core" sim games, I guess.

Sports games, because I don't like sports to begin with, so why would I want to play a game about them?

Also, most racing games I don't play, last one I played was Burnout 3, which I enjoyed because it rewarded me for what I most want to do in a racing game, running all those other bastards off the track.

I refuse to play sports games and RTS'. But that's just my style. Oh, and the only racing games I play are Mario Kart style racing games. You know, the only ones that work as a game.

Because they don't interest me: racing, sports, a good chunk of FPS (Half Life 2 being an example of an exception), most online games (kinda overlaps with FPS).

Because I suck at them: RTS, fighting games. The former overlaps with "not interested" as I have a bit of a chess-mentality with strategy games (basically, I like the more thoughtful pace of turn-based battle), though I could see things that would work better in real-time (like hardcore military simulation).

I've actually found there is a game from each genre I enjoy, at least for a while so there isn't any I outright avoid. However, there are some genres that I don't play many games from.
Yes.
I was tempted to say I didn't play sports games, but then I remembered TECHMO BOWL and NHL Hockey '93. Those were a lot of good times. I'd like to say I avoid RPGs, but every once in a while I try them again, and get bored. Then I wanted to say I avoided racing games, but I did rather enjoy the early versions of the Need 4 Speed series - before it turned into crap. So it turns out that there is probably one exception to every genre that I "don't like."

Except JRPG. I can't stands them. I even had to stop playing KotoR because it felt like a JRPG. I gained my force powers in a cutscene... that took all the fun out of it.

I haven't done much RTS, which is ironic considering how many of my favorite games are turn based strategy. I think the reason is that I haven't been playing PC games very long. Other than that, yeah I play all of them.

Probably only racing games. Only racing game I really enjoyed was Lego Racers (well, haven't really played many since then), but I can seem to get that to run on Windows 7 (if someone knows how, please tell me). Besides that, MMO's.

I have more action games than I can count (ranging from Doom to Bulletstorm and Homefront), adventure (Uncharted 2), RPGs (tons of Final Fantasy's, Divinity II, The Witcher), some music games (Guitar Hero 1/2, Audiosurf, Beat Hazard), RTS (Age of Empires, World in Conflict), fighting (both Dissidia's, Super Smash Bros Melee [need to buy original again since I got another N64]), and even some (14) sport games (Tony Hawk 2x - Proving Ground, Skate 1/2/3/It, Shaun White Skateboarding).

So, yeah... I play pretty much everything.
