What's your favourite house in George RR Martin's book series which is now a TV show?
Pray tell, why do you like them? ^.^

Other : House Martell.

Dorne is really cool; it's very different from the rest of Westeros in terms of traditions and viewpoints.
Sadly, we'll have to wait till season 3 to see how they''re shown in the TV series though.

Ah, so you remade the thread. Well I REALLY need to read the books :*(

However going by the TV show I'll say Stark because they aren't massive pricks..

I have only seen the TV series (and read summaries of the books online) so I follow the Stark. Their action is justify and they all look like tough people to fight against.

Barathorn, but only for Stannis not Robert or Renly.

Starks may be friendlier but I wouldn't want to associate myself with people with their luck.

I wonder what people's least favorite house is. I can't decide between the Boltons and the Freys.

Sure, the Starks are the most likeable but:

I'm not too fond of choosing the losing horse

Ultimately, I had to choose the 'Other' option and make it a toss up between the Martells or, ironically, the Brotherhood Without Banners. The former house is one of the most unique of all of them and has a legitimate claim to the Iron Throne. The latter group consists of a bunch of badasses riding around and pissing off the Lannisters.

Lannister. One reason: Tyrion. I can cast aside all other flaws of that house purely for him (I'm on Clash of Kings at the moment, but I'm guessing he's going to die at some point. Possibly raped as well, like nearly all other characters).

House Stark.

They're the only house in the series that actually seem to set much stock by existing laws and traditions as being higher than any individual person, even the king.

If we were allowed to choose minor houses, then I have a major liking for House Reed as well.

I was tempted to answer Targaryen simply because of Daenerys. She's simply that awesome of a character. Generations of oppressive rule, madness, and incest dissuaded me.

Toss up between Stark and the Brotherhood Without Banners.

Stark care about the people but put far too much stock in 'doing the honorable thing' which more often than not seems to get people killed but the Brotherhood are the only ones who seem to give a damn about all the poor fuckers who have to grit their teeth and deal with it whilst the nobles squabble.

Daenerys doesn't seem too bad either but I have a very bad feeling about the people behind her.

Im about 2/3 through 'A Storm of Swords' if anyone wants to know.

Daenerys has dragons, so I follow the dragons, obviously.
...I'm not exactly a hard sell there.

Barring that, I'm a sellsword of Bravos. Name your price and my skills are yours.

Baratheon, because Stannis seems to be the only sane one.
A great evil coming from beyond the wall and he seems to be the only one who thinks it would be a good idea to stop it before everyone dies. (Well apart from the Nights watch)
Maybe Lannister if Tyrion was in charge.

Stark.

Mainly cuz I'm sure the whole thing ends with everybody dead and Arya picking the good stuff out of the body's pockets.
Also, Winter is Coming.

Personally, I'm rooting for Daenerys Targaryen. I've really enjoyed her storyline. I need to read the books, though.

Stark is the obvious choice. They're pretty much the least dickish of the bunch, other than the Martells. The Targaryens were also awesome, when their crazy inbred leaders weren't, you know, roasting people alive for teh lulz.

Also the Night's Watch for being generally the baddest dudes around. I'd join up if it weren't for the hellish conditions, and the whole "no marriage" deal.

Targaryen.
Robert Baratheon was an asshole who killed thousands, committed treason, and killed babies because his betrothed was in love with Rhaegar. They are the true royal house of Westeros.

Also, Daenerys has dragons and a slave army.
Plus, in A Dance With Dragons ***SPOILERS*** Aegon VI has a whole friggin mercenary army.

Among the ideals represented in the series, I'm most fond of the Stark/Baratheon alliance of Robert's rebellion
I think that if Robert had wound up with Lyanna for a wife and Eddard for a Hand right off the bat, the Seven Kingdoms would have prospered under his rule. Most of the downfall of the Kingdom can be blamed on Tywin Lannister, really (especially if you fault him for Cersei's actions after he essentially forced her to become the queen).
...as things stand at the end of A Dance With Dragons I identify most closely with the Brotherhood Without Banners; what's leftovers of Beric Dondarrion's outlaw band.
So (no spoilers;DR version), House Dondarrion. Lightning banner for me.
