Starcraft2. Really wanted to like it. I do enjoy watching shoutcasts though, weird.

Yeah never really got into Dragon Age.. Kind of felt like Mass Effect and Fire Emblem had a retarded baby.

Half life 2 episode 1. I LOVE Half Life 2 and episode 2, great design philosophy and story ect. But episode one was just more shooting, the same old puzzles again and a lack of story progression. If you think about it the part near the start where you board a train, then crash is the point where the real padding starts. If the train just kept going and left the city without crashing then it would have ended just the same way, but you are just shoved out of the train, run about for an hour of two more, and then get on another train and leave. See what I mean? Same end, more complicated means. On top of that most of the combine you kill would have died anyway due to the massive explosion.

Heavenly sword, all my friends were like "this game is amazing" "you have to play this" In my opinion it was rubbish.

I'd go along with that. Same goes for God of War - it's pretty, but it's bascially just an upgrade of Golden Axe's "walk along, hit some buttons to kill, walk along a bit more" gameplay.

KoTOR - The gameplay didn't appeal to me after playing RPGs such as Mass Effect and Fallout 3.

All the Grand Theft Auto games; actually, pretty much anything by Rockstar.

Mass Effect was for me a truly underwhelming game as well. The only thing I liked about it was, in comparison to other Bioware games, the good combat. The way people go on about Garrus would make you think he's the anointed one.

GTA 4 - Red Dead Revolver - inFamous

The whole free form open world games where everything is grey and drab is getting old for me.

Just Cause 2 was great I thought. Wasn't like looking at a roll of duct tape. lol

Halo 3. ooookay allow me to explain. when i was at school when the game first came out i had people constently asking me "have you got Halo 3 yet?" i normally reply "no" then i get asked "do you have an xbox360" again i replied "no" then all they say is "get an xbox360 and halo 3" or "you have no life" at that time i was just happy with my laptop and wii. when i finally did get an xbox360 and halo 3 i put the disc in to be a game that would blast my balls off in awesomeness, it was just a crap FPS.

Tl;dr : Halo 3 cuz it was crap

Oh hi! I didn't see you there. Well now that you are here sit down and listen.

I bought Mass Effect a few months ago (due to both a friends recommendations and the MASSeffectIVE fan base it seems to have on here), got home, sat down and turned on my 360 and stuck the disc in. I was prepared for the greatest gaming experience of my life. And then... well then nothing.

I got about an hour into it and was just not having any fun. My whole experience involved me creating a character and giving him a backstory (which was pretty much relayed back to me in the first 5mins of play), then landing on some unknown planet where I proceeded to wander around this plant lost, cold and confused. I met a girl, got lost again and then my attention span evaporated and I gave up. I have tried to go back and give it another go but it just doesn't work for me.

So Escapists, has this happened to you? What game have you played, that everyone said was great but just couldn't get into?
i had that same experience the first time, i plugged it in and was bored after an hour of running around with my head cut off from bad menu design to shitty inventory to not knowing where the fuck to go.

then i chugged through a bit more, and had the time of my life. so its all what you make of it i suppose, mass effect is a bit hard to get into though i will definitly agree to that.

OT: probably bioshock, everything just seems so clunky and boring, i have no drive what so ever to do anything in that game, if anything i would've just bombed the shit out of the whole place then looted the remains.

I didn't Mass Effect at all... same with Red Dead Redemption, and GTA 4, and Killzone 2, Bioshock, and Call of Duty 4, and Jade Empire, and Uncharted 2.

Super/Street Fighter 4.

Yeah, I said it. I could list a whole plethora of reasons why I don't like the game (I don't hate it mind you), but I know most people have the attention span of a dead mosquito, so I won't bother. Just know that I'm one of the few that thinks Capcom dropped the ball so hard so hard on this it actually went through the Earth into the planet's core.

Oblivion, Mass Effect 2.

Maybe I should just stop buying sequels, since they all seem to be shit. Oh wait, 99% of all games are sequels. Oh, and STALKER, which just keeps getting better, while every other game seems to get worse.

Oblivion.

I still played it a decent amount, but I got half way through the story before I said "screw it". Not as amazing as how my friend you convince'd me to buy it said.

Also, Bioshock. Partly because I accidently played Bioshock 2 first, and I can't stomach Bioshock 1's combat anymore.

I don't think Mass Effect is the gem some people make it out to be, I did enjoy it though, probably won't play it again mind.

Grand Theft Auto 4, really loved Vice City, and I liked San Andreas to a certain extent. However, I just couldn't get into 4. The city was largely empty, the characters weren't massively appealing, and the visuals weren't anything to write home about. Fortunately I found Red Dead Redemption to be a much more enjoyable experience.

Call of Duty, Battlefield, Medal of honor, any of the shooters based around realistic warfare. I just don't like them at all. Admittedly at least CoD 4 seemed like it could be good if you liked that sort of thing, however the others just seemed like clones to me.

God of War, Heavenly Sword, and Bayonetta. Now, I really enjoyed the Devil may cry games, however, I just could never get into any of these. They all seemed mindless hack and slashers. Not to mention I just can't take Bayonetta seriously at all. The demo I played made me cringe with the scenes it had.

I voted Yup. I think there's something wrong with you.

But to be honest I didn't like ME2 as much as ME. I played through ME a few times just for kicks and awesomeness but I can't seem to want to play ME2 again at all.

I hated Farcry 2, DMC, Half-Life 2, GTA, etc.. it happens, but I'm cool with it, so there's nothing wrong with me. :)
