I was pretty sure my friends would laugh at me if they found out I played Oblivion, but then I found out we were all closet Oblivion fans! We still deny all knowledge of the game in public however.

What? Oblivion is one of the 'cool' games around here, along with Halo 3 >.>

And, of course, for me it's Neotokyo, which is attributed to be a campfest among the 'casual' gaming sort.

Also, Sonic Adventure 2's Chao Garden. I spend most of my time petting Chao and making them race. I have no excuse.

You were laughed at for being in the Chao Garden?! But that's like the best part!

I was laughed at for playing Animal Crossing. I then made my friends play and laughed when they got addicted to it two weeks later.

My friend saw me playing the origional Fallout and laughed. He said that the graphics were so bad, and bad graphics mean a bad game... Idiot

Oh god, I have such a pet peeve for people who do that, eh, this graphics fetish is going to ruin gaming, soon increased costs are going to bankrupt us gamers.

The main reason I get laughed at is because, in modern gaming terms, I'm a dinosaur. I still play a...a...a text-based game!

I'm a long-time player on the Discworld MUD, based on the Terry Pratchett series. Its a hell of a lot of fun (not to mention having been under constant development and tweaking since 1992, so it has a lot to offer), and whenever I describe it to people they can't wait to try it. Unfortunately, when I mention the text-based nature of the game, people seem unable to wrap their heads around the concept. A game with no pictures? Thats unpossible!

We still average decent numbers, considering the game is in direct competition with the likes of WoW, but telling people you play an online, text RPG based on fantasy novels is a sure-fire way to earn yourself mockery and scorn.

Hexic, possibly the most fun game I own, and I'm always slandered for it =(

A friend came over and watched me play Hexic 3D for a couple of minutes, and then kindly informed me that it was the most boring piece of shit he'd ever seen. He later said the same thing about Civilization:Revolution, so fuck him anyway.

I have a sense of self-preservation. I hide my embarrassing games.

...Seriously, though, I kicked the crap out of Disney's Hercules game!

Probably the worst gaming-related decision I have ever made; as a child, taking my birthday money to PC World, and having a choice between Disney's Hercules, and C&C: Red Alert. I bought Hercules, and have never lived down the shame.

I was playing the first 'Commando' games and got laughed at because they are so old(but still awesome).

Loved those games, up until Commandos 3. I swear, that game is the ultimate equaliser. It doesn't care whether you are black, white, fat, skinny, male or female, it just really fucking hates you and wants you to die! Every mission is a slow, slow crawl punctuated by frequent death, capture, and quickloads. And yet it somehow manages to be fun. The kind of weird, painful fun you get from pulling out your own teeth - it hurts like hell, but its damn satisfying when you manage it!

The only games I've played out in public that I'd get laughed at for would be Pokemon, but I was smart enough to only play that in band class. It's kind of hard to make fun of someone for playing that when there's a game of Yu-Gi-Oh going on in the background.

...I actually had people asking to play it. It was right after Pearl had come out, so I was hot stuff with the (other) nerds.

I got laughed at for playing Twisted Metal 2. The concept just fascinated me too much to stop playing - despite the shitty level-design/character models. I had to know what happened to the characters.

*That, and Pokemon: Fire Red. I bought it for the advance and just wanted to play it in my spare hours. I couldn't help being laid-off, alright?
