It's not that I never come back. I dropped Ass-Creed 2 when on the PS3 for reasons I forget but I'm back in it on the 360. I dropped Saint's Row 2 after beating the story mode but by then I had done just about everything (racing be damned I say!)

For the most part though, I'll stop playing a game because of another new game I'm more interested in or, another old game I feel bad about no longer playing. Sometimes it's life that gets in the way though. Like work. Not that that's a current problem but it was at one point.

I've never played an oldschool JRPG all the way through. Even Chrono Trigger, my favorite RPG of all time (and that's weird considering how much I despise JRPGs in general), I wasn't able to finish due to getting stuck without any idea of what to do or where to go. I was gonna use a manual, but then I sold my DS and its 14 games, and bought a ps3. Heres hoping Chrono Trigger ends up there soon.

Otherwise I complete my games at least once each.

I tend to do this with most games I have, though I always go back and replay them anyway and usually power through what I already did to get to the end stages. I have a stack of PSP games taunting me into restarting them, but I just haven't had time between work and such.

...And then it never fails where I'll go back and replay Lunar. That game has a special place in my heart.

My biggest ones would have to be Disgaea 2 and Persona 1; I can't bring myself to finish either, one because of grinding, the other due to just playing other games.

There are a huge amount, actually. Well, in truth, I haven't finished many of the games I own. I come back to a lot of them, but the one that comes to mind is Wind Waker. I really enjoyed the game itself, and I got to the last temple (before Ganon's tower) but I just didn't feel the motivation to actually finish it.

I have replayed the beginning a lot, though.

Well since I am an achievement whore I don't think I ever "drop" games. I just put them aside while i play the next ones while i vow to go back to them. I swear I will.

this does happen quite a bit actually, ff9 happened because of college, that game takes a bit more chunks of dedicated time than i could offer so i will have to open it up and figure out what the fuck was going on again before i can continue in it, i loved it but man it was sucking some time up.

i enjoy zelda games alot, but i will admit, any time it comes to that last "dungeon" i always always always drop it, in that exact "motivation" as you put it

Final Fantasy IV DS. I lost to Ogopogo a few times and I just... let it go.

Don't you judge me! ... :/

I have tried to play Final Fantasy 8 three times. The first two times I think I got to the third disc but was distracted by other games. That was a VERY long time ago. I decided last October/Novemberish to give it another shake.

I got to the second disc this time and I stopped because of the rampant stupidity of the story. Not even using the Squall's Dead theory about the game made it enjoyable enough for me to continue. So even though it starts out being entertaining and having high hopes it's just...ehhhh.

This happened to me with Minecraft not too long ago.

Flashback to about two months ago, and I played Minecraft every day for hours almost religiously. Then for whatever reason I got bored and stopped playing as much as I once did. Fast forward back to the present day, and I officially haven't touched that game in almost a month.

Black Ops: Spawn system was totally fucked at the beginning, and it turned me off of the game entirely. Sniping was also completely and utterly ruined in this game, and sniping is why I play Call of Duty.

Fallout 3: It's alright, but I finally couldn't stand the slow pace anymore. I have no idea why everyone slobbers all over this game's dick. It's soooooo slooooooooooooooow.
That depends on what quest you're doing. The most memorable one consisted of you vs. three floors of supermutant armies. Not exactly slow paced.

OT: Most of the pokémon games, because I had a habit of choosing whichever pokémon I thought were cool, and then discovering that the elite four could kick my ass because my team wasn't actually that great. In that situation, the only response is to grind or start over, and neither is very appealing.

Adding Zelda: Oracle of Seasons to my list. I bought the game and a used gameboy color and got about two hours into it. I forgot how ridiculously annoying it is to play a game without a backlight. >.<

Plus it just wasn't doing it for me...

I chose, "It's not as good as I thought". I won't actually drop a game permanently, often times these days games are released and they just need some work. One example, "Final Fantasy XIV". Another example, for me, "Brink", this one is debatable where the former really is not, but I have my reasons and I am entitled to them. :p
