Now, now, let's not try to focus too much of our hate on the machine that is Gamestop, but when it comes to employees in general, it's either a hit or a miss.

I've met some very nice employees in my time, others primarily consisting of social rejects and dishonest fucktards. One in my particular zip code lied to me on a particular day about a trade-in offer. "You can't have the deal without Pro Membership man.", his exact words, verbatim.

Here's the issue, he's assistant and he has been trying for a long time to push his way up the ladder supposedly. Even then, this isn't grounds to cheat your customers. I read every in the fucking ToS and ToA, no fucking word of having to own a membership in order to get the complete offer. Now, I have a 16.99 membership that only grants me access to certain lackluster deals and an extra 1-2 dollars for my trade-ins for a store that I hardly visit more than five times a year.

But let's turn away from the negativity for a graceful moment. I knew a particular employee for at least five years, which use to be formally located as my previously local Gamestop, back in the early 2000s. Nice guy, he even managed to get us Prototype, which happened to be the only reserved copy let which rightfully and originally belonged to him. Sadly, his location was moved and could no longer work there as of a year or two back. Since then, I've had to visit the other store from time to time with that shady assistant manager.

But enough about me, your experience(s)?

every time I went there there's always someone there I can strike up a game conversation that isn't COD or Halo only happen to have a not so great experience when I walked into a gamestop with my little brother and the employees kept looking at us like we were going to steal something (because you know they keep games in their cases out in the open)

I've had two roommates who've worked for Gamestop, and I have a friendly conversation with a worker at just about every one I go to. I know it's a shitty job, but most of the ones I've seen have managed to do their job well and be nice to the customer.

People take way too much out on workers there, especially when it's about stuff related to company policy. They have no control over that.

Never had a problem. I'm there enough that most of the employees know what I have and are/aren't interested in so I never really get hassled into anything I don't already want. Plus a couple of long standing friends work at the one I frequent.

i like most gamestop employees but i find an unsettling trend started to take place that im seeing more and more of with other businesses. the stores are being taken over by "cute" girls that know nothing about the company they work for. i would have no problem with girls working at a gamestop but when the girls know nothing about upcoming game releases or ANY of the acronyms for genres (RTS, MMO, RPG...) then i have to call bullshit

all of the male gamestop employees i get along with great. some only play certain genres and i am fine with that but when a female employee tries to talk about facebook games as if i would be interested really annoys me. i have the basic principle that if you work for a store you should be knowledgeable about whatever you are selling

if i go to bestbuy and go into the computer department i expect a computer geek to show up to help me and not some guy that doesnt know what RAM does for a computer. if i go to a butcher i expect him to know the difference between a new york steak and prime rib. if i go to a gamestop i expect the employee to know the different consoles and there basic equipment

Why don't you have a "meh" option?

I don't really have anything against them, cause I've never had any "bad" experience with them, maybe because I mostly avoid GameStop, but anyway.
I haven't really got a reason to like them either, for once again, I avoid GameStop. but whatever interaction I've had with them have (other than highway-robbery-ish) been okay.

I love them. At my local shop (Store 420), they are always helpful.

One even baked muffins for the midnight launch of DA:II that I went to. They were great!

So yeh, I do like what they do.

Well, Lets See genrally I have met people who were normal, Didn't talk to them much however last time I went to preorder skyrim I got in a conversation with the person alllowing me to. Me and him talked about the features and such, He was a nice guy and seemed to know about the up-coming games. So Genrally I like their service.

The people at my gamestops in town are pretty knowledgeable and pleasantly laid back. Most of them have facial hair, as well(barring the women, of course). It's well-kept, but seems to be very commonplace. I'm relatively satisfied with the situation.

The gamestop employees in my area are all pretty cool people, especially the gamestop I usually frequent. They've messed up a couple of times with my preorders and stuff like that, but they've always more than made it up to me.

Also, one time when I was waiting in line for the cashier one of their employees made a coffee run for me across the street. Now THAT'S commitment to customer service.

While I haven't had that many bad experiences and get along with most employees I do recall several incidents I've had.

A few months ago I pre-ordered and fully payed off Radiant Historia a week or two before it was released. On the launch date I called asking if they had it in yet, and the answer was no. The employee then offered to check if any other stores in the area had it in. I then informed him that I had it reserved at that particular store so after looking in the back he said they did indeed have it. People who reserved it got a bonus soundtrack.

Anyways I drive up to the store and go up to an employee asking for it. He says in a stern voice "No". Puzzled, I just told him I called 10 minutes ago. The other more competent employee piped in and went to the back to grab the game.

The original employee rung it up and told me the full price total. I then said I had it reserved. So to make a long story short this guy was about to sell a reserved product to someone who he thought didn't reserve it.

This is probably the same reason I've heard friends tell me they reserved a game for them to say they are out of it. Isn't that the whole point of reserving a game?

I like my Gamestop employees.

Basically because I'm excellent at making friends in good places. I couldn't count the amount of times I've gotten pre-order benefits without actually pre-ordering the game.

I actually rather like the local EB Games employees. And the company itself seems to be alright.

Better than pre-ordering from my only other option...

Most of the employees are just regular Joes so I really can't be hatin on that, but Gamestop forces them to be dickish pestering salesmen that I would gladly punch in the face, but that is their job requirement and presumably that is also the reason to their absent minded interactions.

So I despise gamestop, the employees are just another brick in the wall.

Funny you should mention that...

I worked at Gamestop. There was a store (not ours) that was notorious for asking for full-body pictures of girls in their resumé, and the staff, well... except for the seedy manager, it was all full-hot girls. This trend had started to spread to other stores by the time I left.

Other than that, what can I say? We're gamers, just like you, and speaking for myself and my colleagues at the store I worked on (well, all but one, but she was a dick, anyway) we'd give you honest opinions on games, and never try to dupe you. I've worked retail enough, and it's not often you get lucky enough to have a customer base you can relate to.

I don't mind them except for when they start bothering me to preorder stuff or get the whatever card, which is not very often at all, but still.

Unfortunately those honest and generally pleasant employees are often punished for it. If you don?t push numbers, if you don?t shove promotions down customer?s throats it?s your ass, out the door. The GameStop machine does not perpetuate good customer service. Every store is different because of the people who work there and whether or not they have given in to the number beast.
